    ABSTRACT:
Currently, electronic applications play an important role in our everyday lives. Apps are used by up to millions of users logging in, performing a variety of activities and then logging off. Developers take a keen interest in analyzing and developing an understanding of how their applications are being used, as this is strongly related to the customers' satisfaction and applications' market performance.
This talk will explore probabilistic models for user session behavior in non-contractual setting, i.e. when a user is not obliged to (un)subscribe and can simply never log in or use the application ever again. It will show how a combination of machine learning techniques and ideas from statistical developments in the marketing domain is applied to Wargaming games such as World of Tanks.
    ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Nishith Pathak has a PhD in computer science from the University of Minnesota and specializes in data mining and machine learning. As a Data Scientist for Wargaming, he analyzes data from games such as World of Tanks, in order to study players' behavior and motivation in order to optimize player acquisition, engagement, and monetization.
    ABOUT THE SEMINAR:
The seminar "Math problems of non-mathematicians" is a series of lectures given at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of the Charles University in Prague by invited speakers. The seminar's goal is to complement the theory-focused classes by showing various and trendy applications of mathematics. While the primary audience are the Faculty's students of mathematical majors, the lectures are open to and frequented by other students and public as well.
