The fact that he outruns the ship behind him reflects his childhood when he cant catch his toy ship. he couldn't keep up with his invention becaus of his body and now his invention helps him. it's just so beautiful...

Gosh, there is symbolism everywhere in Arcane. They thought of everything
I feel like many here got the wrong interpretation of the message of his arc. It's not your classic bs propaganda about pushing for success and thinking you're better than everyone. It's exactly the opposite. His ambition leads to innocent woman dying, to their technology being used as a weapon, to way more inequality and unrest. All because he and Jayce were way more focused on improving their tech rather than helping people as they originally wanted. As he says - "In the pursuit of great, we failed to do some good".

Inspiring aspiration twisted and crippled YET THEY STILL TRY TO FIX THINGS after facing this and realizing what they’ve become. They wanted to change the world and didn’t let the world change them at least at their core. Compare that to someone like jinx that’s been completely warped from the person she once was by the world. Neither jayce nor Viktor were ready to just accept this. It’s why jayce decided not to press Vi and why Viktor was willing to destroy the hex core. That’s my little take on it

I can't help but feel that "What could have been" is Viktors song, the monster created through the violent action of those he was trying to save 😓
He wasn't some child as in episode 3s "I was only trying to help!"
He was genuinely on the verge of being able to release his people from the oppression they felt, to be free to provide them with the technology that would improve their lives, to SAVE lives.. achieve everything he had wanted for them..
And it may be fiction, but I am an empath and DAMN, that hurts.
..Reading into the lore and seeing the TV adaption of the old narrative..

That does not suit the needed you more part tho. The final viktor form will of course be created by Jinx action but the song does not really fit for him as it fit for Jinx/Vi Piltover/Zaun

English isn't my native language but I would say, he sounds a bit Russian in my ears.

@@rekoxx346 I think, it's some generic east european accent, since the voice actor of Viktor (Harry Lloxd) is British. :) But I can hear there some Czech, German, Romanian influences. :D
@@sarusthelorevore523 I'm Russian, and for me his accent sounds like stereotipycal russian accent, as if the Russian language is emm rude in pronunciation. So when after our translation I heard Victor's voice in the original, it was unpleasant for me, because for me it sounds like just bad English :с

In act 1 you can see Viktor standing on his own without his cane, meaning he only needs it when he's walking
In act 2-3 you see him clutching on his crutch most of the time, even when he's sitting, which saddens me knowing that his condition was at the least bit manageable with a leg brace and a cane back then. Now he needs a back brace and a crutch to to even stand still.
It is a repeating theme, that I love
how every tribute/amv to Arcane and it's characters, seems to end on that final shot of the window~

I think that viktors final form will be more nuanced than its depicted in the game currently
i wonder what season 2 will bring for his character
I love how they didn't take the beaten path of 'assistant is jealous of partner's fame'. Jayce always treated him as his equal, as his friend and even tried to get him to get some limelight with him, but that wasn't what Viktor wanted.
Viktor wanted to to be his own man, to be known for something great, to improve the lives of millions. And once he realized that he forgot that last part in the pursuit of the first two with the death of his assistant, I was with him in his grief as you can't help but feel for him.
Like with everyone else, he's feels human. It's why I hope that he along with Jayce survived Jinx's attack, even if they focused on other areas of the world in season 2.
Viktor and Jayce are playable characters in League of Legends, they definely did survived.
Spoiler for the original game: we still have to see when Viktor become the Viktor in the game
And the next season will finish off this part of the world.

Sadly if we'd never pursue any science which could bring lives in danger, we'd still live like the Stone Age never happened. Even one of the first great science we humans created takes tons of lives to this day, but could we imagine living in a world where we never would've discovered how to create fire?
@@ruud9761 swing it the other way and it shows the hypocrisy of scientists too goodminded to see how their science can lead to destruction. Too idealistic to see how their work can (and will) be used. How its a statement many students and scientists would say fits their moral, even thought they naturally strive to do the opposite. Atombombs were also only made because someone found out how atoms worked (more or less at least) and that person surely didn't even see such destructive potential possible at that point.
The first phrase can be misused to get the powerful to do their will, as they change the world at will.

Another incredible character in the show. I feel like once he is given the time to grow in later seasons he could have as good as an arc as Isaac from castlevania.

I cry maybe 1 time a year, Arcane had me cry 1 time per episode. I genuinely think this is one of the greatest most well-crafted and thorough stories ever made.
Everyone is talking about Viktor's character being so complex, and I totally agree. But can we also appreciate how AMAZING this edit is?

This was so cinematic, it really captured the tragedy of Victor's arc, his raw desperation to succeed. Its really moving.
Viktor got so wrapped up in saving himself that he lost sight of helping others. The Hexcore sucked him in, practically begged to be created, and he succumbed to it.
When he said "I'm Viktor" to Jayce my jaw literally dropped and I started crying so bad just knowing where he ends up. Such a tragic story yet to come.

2:46 I love the parallels between the two scenes you chose! In this scene, Viktor said that they're scientists, not soldiers. But Jayce became one, and the consequences of his actions were evident. Really shows the bitter truth behind Viktor's words.
2:59 "There is always a choice". I really appreciate how you place Viktor's quotes next to the scenes of how it all played out! The councils made a choice to give independence to Zaun, the Undercity, and by doing so, they've shown that they might've been able to avoid war. But like Viktor said, although there's always a choice, sometimes the choice wasn't made soon enough, and now people are paying for the price of precious time wasted.
Thanks for making this amazing edit! The song choice really builds up the tension and pressure, especially at 3:04 when the music takes a turn and becomes more serious when the council voted for Zaun's independence.

Knowing what Viktor has become just makes his story even more sad
I have always admired Victor's character development. From the beginning, he was interesting, and humble. He started it all pure-hearted. Then his character underwent a dramatic transformation. The writing of his character was phenomenal and unpredictable, yet somehow felt natural.
Zurik, you made me realize that after a year away from video creation, I`ve felt that I had something missing. Hopefully, someday I will have that motivation to push myself like I used too... I just want to tell you: "Thank you"!

The part that really gets me is imagining how he must have felt when the core began to consume him and Sky rushes to help him only to watch helplessly as someone he knew since childhood was vaporized right in front of him screaming for help and knowing it was all his fault...
There's a reason why self sacrifice is considered a heroic virtue, nothing good ever comes from hiding from mortality. I really can't wait to see where they go from here with Viktor.
Viktor is just one of the best Characters i have ever seen in a Series like his person and what he says can teach you so many important things about life.

Your skills are Aracane-level worthy. Viktor is my favorite character, I immediately empathized with him because I know what is like to have great ideas flowing in your mind, but feeling the pain and anger of being limited by the body. If you don't strive for Excellence in this live, there is no way you can feel his pain.

People may have their favourites in Vi and Jinx, but I love Jayce and Viktor's characters as they show right intentions with terrible consequences.

A quick internet search of "In the pursuit of great, we failed to do good" only really returns results centered around Victor in Arcane. If the writers came up with that line, just for this show, that is just simply amazing. I can't imagine a saying that good, not being something already well documented in history. Its possible Arcane has drowned out a possible original source, but its good regardless.
I do know Victor and Jayce have an Oppenheimer moment when discussing the development of hex tec weapons. The lines mirror real history well, so it is possible that great/good was mirrored as well, but its all just so good.
Really good take on the story of viktor! I loved the way you've assembled everything and managed to put it a nice way to the viewers eye

Viktor is honestly my favourite Arcane character. He just feels like the most real person in the series, and I honestly relate to him so much. His journey through Arcane really draws some parallels to myself, and he just feels familiar to me in that way.
Edit: His EARLY development. I haven't inadvertently killed a love interest (yet).
The killed love interest was the weakest part of the writing of his arc imo

@@dj_koen1265feel as if you've missed the point friend. Love interest had basically nothing to do with that, that was for the audiences sake to highlight his growing obsession. The point was his pursuits killed an innocent, one of the big highlight of his entire character arc. Losing his own life or a limb would mean literally nothing but maybe annoyance to Victor. A worthless loss cause at that point Victor wouldn't care.

And it also gives you a hint of what could've been. If he only paid more attention to sky earlier, maybe they could've had a fulfilling relationship. Maybe sky would be there for him when he really needed it, keeping him from going too far. Maybe they could've cured Viktor together and had a promising future. But no, he didn't even get to know her and now she's dead and the promising future is gone in an instant. All because of this obsession, desperation and recklessness

Viktor is truly a tragic character. I fear that he will end up in a critical state due to Jinx's rocket and Jayce will be forced to use the hex core to save him. But in doing so Jayce will end up losing Viktor just like Silco lost Jinx due to the effects of Singed's treatment.
i remember instantly when he said his name was viktor i knew how sad and heartbreaking his journey and story would be i knew that his intentions would be pure and good and he would strive for greatness but not for himself but for the sake of others.......yet i also knew that in the end he would lose himself.....i knew that in his desperation and his ambition he would reach out blindly and grasp the first thing he found....and in that act he would change everything he would end the life of someone and alter his own in such a way that it would be irreversible........and that line is the perfect understanding for not only Viktors story and not only the Whole of the show and its characters but also for us and our goals and dreams
