Yup, but the league has changed so much over the past 20 years, and is now so perimeter oriented. Still, Edey will unquestionably get drafted, and can have a career in the league.
He's already a giant at 7'4" and 300 lbs. He can bully most guys in the NBA in the paint with that kind of size. Definitely has potential to be more than a rotation player.
@@RichieCampano Yes, and size is the only thing remotely similar. Who cares if they are the same size, they aren't the same player. How many points did Tacko average for his career in college? There are going to be justifiable questions about Edey's ability to defend in space which is a crucial skill in the NBA today for big men, but to compare him to Fall because they are of similar build and size is arbitrary. Edey is much better today than Fall ever was, and his ceiling is a lot higher, they are in no way similar prospects, Edey is much more fluid than Fall, and that is an independent quality of size.
Teams will take him out of the paint defensively, defending in the perimeter and in space will be the crucial thing he needs to be able to do to get a big role and have an imapct in the NBA. No one cares about an efficient 15ppg from a center anymore if they are a minus defensively. I have no doubt he'll have a role as a bench player regardless, but that will be the key for him to become a starter or potential star.
Yes. He reminds me of Yao Ming also. I can't believe how many people are negative on him. He's better than Donovan Clingan and is most def worth being taken in the upper part of the first round. He will surprise in the NBA.

It's easy to just ramble away with your comments, if you don't look anything up. But then you don't have a clue what your talking about either. You're the casual who says Wilt played versus 6'6 guys as well.
@@penkima4923 I don’t know how tall those guys were. But I’ll tell you this. They did have other jobs ie plumbers, didn’t train everyday and we’re definitely not 7’1
This guy can dominate possessions in the NBA, specially during regular season where most players don't want to mess too much against such a dominating body with skills. But in the play-offs, it's going to be difficult to play him for a moment, every weakness is exploited and even as a drop big guy you have to catch up on fast breaks and cover lot of ground in set offenses. I wish him well in the pros tough, I always loved profiles like this, maybe he would get more chances to express his talents in the Euroleague rather than the NBA.
Seems like Edey might want to slim down more because he looks and plays exactly like Yao did so he's probably also prone to the same overuse injuries from having an unnaturally large frame. He will also need to defend centers out to the perimeter and being lighter should increase mobility. Yao never had to leave the paint.
Basketball fans today want a 7'4, 300 lb man move and shoot like a guard 🤦. Zach's strength is his size and post play so he should use them to his advantage. His success in the nba will depend on how his team utilize his strength.
Especially if the NBA lets him bowl over people with that massive shoulder and elbow and doesn't start calling offensive fouls on it. But even then, he actually has really good footwork too, and good footwork usually convinces refs to swallow the whistles on O fouls.
Because it's the nba not college he can't shoot are gaurd the 5s in the nba stop it.. watch the players and not ESPN are watch the 5s in the nba AL horford will give him 40 off pulling him out driving by him😂😂😂
Edey will be very difficult to slow down if Johnson guards him 1-1 as he outweighs him by a good 70 pounds. I expect Utah St to play a box around him and dare Purdue's guards to shoot. We'll see. Now if Johnson can shot the 3 like he did against TCU it poses a serious matchup problem for Purdue. Painter doesn't want Edey coming out to defend as it would open up lanes for Utah St to drive so he'd have to put a smaller player (Kaufman Renn) on Johnson. Purdue doesn't have many individual defenders and we rely on help/traps on dynamic guards.
Stop it Zach will never be moving like wemby or these other small lengthy centers But he can stop them from the inside most likely and that's what he needs to get good at playing inside defense anyone coming near post he should be able to send that sh without fouling that's what big dudes like him should be able to do.
