I’ve always loved silk scarves, which I learned about from my elegant French colleagues in the early 80s. I wear them a lot with cashmere or merino sweaters, which however high quality, always make sensitive neck skin irritated. But, I also love the femininity, softness, color and pattern they add to simple outfits.
I think it’s one of the best stories ever that an Hermes’ designer talked Jane Birkin out of her basket by designing a bag in her name. Of course, she squished it and roughed it up, and there’s a big gap between a rattan basket and Hermes, but I’m still glad that when I lived in Paris to do grad school at UP VII, I never once saw a rattan basket, anywhere near Germain or the Tuileries or in Montparnasse. A lot of Longchamp and agnes b, which was a great influence on me as well as beautiful. The rattan basket was all over London in the summers. Still is. Interesting.

Loved the inspo. Have most of these already. Except straw bag and beret. I have a woollen beret for winter
