*Genshin is where it struggles.* Also, the battery drain and heating is high too, especially while playing Genshin on that big screen. I was expecting better thermals considering the wide size but they've jam packed all stuff under those black borders it seems. *Btw, you look like John Wick* 😅
Lol, you made me laugh when you clarified that 100 degrees wasn't overly hot. I had to assume you were referring to F, when in NZ here we use C and when I first heard you say it was 100 degrees, I was like WTF - hehe. Thank you for the continued great content.
Was so close to pulling the trigger and ordering one. I really liked my Fold 4 (besides the crunching noises) but the battery life and performance of my S23 Ultra are way too good to give up just because I'm a pixel fan
The camera bar, while useful for keeping it from rocking while closed, also makes it harder to attach a tablet cooler the way I could on the Surface Duo 2. It's still doable but I have to attach it horizontally and be careful not to hit the power button.
@@shanecraigtech that issue, possibly better battery life, smaller bezels, and the screen being unfolded flat instead of being at an awkward 178 degree angle.
Thanks for the video Shane! I wonder what the fps is (and how stable) with 30fps and 60 fps cap turned off in the game settings. I noticed it in fortnite, I'm sure genshin and cod had a cap on as well. Either way, seems plenty fine for a quick time kill here and there. Hardcore gamers will have a switch, steam deck, ally etc id imagine
Im more of a console or PC gamer personally (including the Switch and the Steam Deck). The Picel Fold is a productivity and media device for me, little real interest in using it to gane.
My biggest problem with foldables is how much you give up to be able to fold it does not correspond to the increase in cost. My S23 Ultra did way better with games than my Fold 4 and cost considerably less. I would think if Pixel is wanting to up the ante in the foldable market, they would have a lower price on their foldable.
That's sort of the thing. For some people, being able to open it up into a tablet makes it worth the downgrades and price. For others, a normal phone is the better buy.
@@shanecraigtech for me, I can see paying a little more and getting a little less in some areas, but it just seems like too much right now. If the Pixel Fold was starting at like $1300-$1500 with good trade-in deals, it would blow Samsung out of the water.

What about general multitasking? I don’t game on my phones all that much, but I do like to multitask, mainly work apps, with some UA-cam in the background… how’s it handle that kind of load?
Another quick comment: I think Google messed up not releasing this device with the T3 chip. The T2 is fine, but it’s not as good as Apple’s chips, it’s power hungry and it’s old. At this price point Google should have done the right thing and made it the best they could. The rush to launch it before Samsung’s ZF5 release led them to this decision I’m sure
T3 won't compete with apples chips either. Google is just not trying to be the raw power champion. I feel like people buying the pixel fold are doing it for other reasons.
I occasionally play mobile games (think rocket league sideswipe and xbox game pass) did this exact same thing on my galaxy S10. Also did so in battery saver mode, the G2 in the pixel is more powerful than the snapdragon thats in the S10 so im not at all worried about it

I ask cause from my understanding it plays games like COD, Apex legends, stand off 2, WIld rift as good as any other device with same performace. I do, I just haven't done it lol. The only reason I did here is because I know people were asking. No one cared on the Z Fold. Personally, I don't care about either. They're both fine 🤷
genshin is not as optimized for tensor chips yet. The chips haven't been on the market as long as others and is only avilable for Pixels. It does that as well as, if not better than the Z Fold. I need a good camera and it has a great one. If you're a big gamer, this isn't the foldable for you. Like saying a MacBook sucks because it can't game like a cheaper Windows PC. Depends on the consumer. Buy what makes sense to you.
No one should ever buy a Pixel device for gaming. That has always been the case. If you're a casual gamer, you will be fine. Mobile games are garbage anyway. Buy a switch if u wanna play games on the go.
Okay, here's what I need. I need you to explain how this phone is going to get detectably slower in 2 months and why the Pixel 7 Pro, which runs the exact same chipset, has been immune to this. In fact, let's go a step further. I have a Pixel 2 XL. Why is it just as fast today as it was when I got it, but the Pixel Fold is going to suddenly become significantly slower after only 2 months? Maybe you can clear that up.
@@shanecraigtech The pixel 7 pro is not immune to this, I own 4 pixel 7's 3 of which are pro, and 2-pixel pros are overheating exactly after 2 months time. Something with thermal isn't right.
