Music is art in itself. Take one art form and let it speak through another. I do this daily. The music speaks and the paintbrush listens. It is truly magical when you sit back and let the music and paint sing.
I think this is one of my favorites of your prompts. I’ve come back to watch this a second time to prepare to try it. Will be interesting how abstract I stay with it since I do more figurative art most of the time. Also planning to do a whole painting not just a warm up. Wish me luck!
Being born into a musical family, and as a performer for many years, my secret is I cannot paint without music. Music is what drives my art and creates all of the movement in my art. 4/4 time always gives great results which is why I listen to R&B and Classic Rock! My pallet is driven by that rhythm. 😊 great lesson Chris!
@@SusannaRossoWolf I totally agree! As Shakespeare wrote in Twelfth Night, "If music be the food of love, play on..." I would probably adjust that from love to life, but both are true to me .
Yes they probably would say that, 😆😆. Mums house will hopefully be finished next week, she's looking forward to it, the unpacking of all her stuff will be quite daunting though. Thank you for your demo the painting really turned out quite beautiful. Cheers!
but, Yes it is a masterpiece. I love this painting Chris. Thank you for not disclosing the song - I could go on for years, seeing and hearing stories in this image.
Definitely one approach i have tried and it sort of worked for me. I always apprehend the moment you carve out your shapes and cover up the beautiful colours. But the final result is great, Chris😊😊😊
Its beautiful you know. Trees holding the earth up, that's what I saw when it was verticle, horizontally its a dew drop bending the grass. Well we could speculate as to what you were listening to whilst painting, we can only hope it was something more sophisticated than the funky chicken!😆😆
Thanks, Howling! Haha, it was a little more sophisticated than the funky chicken, however, I'm sure someone would say, "Ah, yes" if I said that was the song. 😂😂
I got a Green Day vibe;) I have a hard time understanding abstract art. Thanks for taking the time to make it approachable. I can always learn something from you.
Great guess with Green Day! You're not too far off. It's not a well know song but similar sound. I’ll keep the actual song under wraps for now. It’s wonderful to hear that you’re finding the tutorials useful-thanks for your support!
So happy you found the tutorial interesting, Gaynor! Music can really enhance the creative process. As for the song, I'll keep that a mystery for now! 😊 It's not a well known song.
Hey Syl, I just realized I never responded to you. This was what I was painting when I listened to reggae. I have to say it was quite calming for some reason. Well, I'm sure it was because I put my cluttered thoughts onto the sketchbook page and danced a little to the music.😊 Thanks for the suggestion! ua-cam.com/video/FsybIqb2it0/v-deo.html
@@chrisloudart thanks… I’ve been trying to use your acrylic lessons and convert to watercolor…. A bit of a challenge since they have different properties and applications. Most of my attempts turn out muddy. TY for sharing your talent !
I can totally see how switching from acrylic to watercolor would be a challenge-they do behave quite differently. Keep experimenting, and I’m sure you’ll find your flow soon!
Well not immediately but yes I'll have my workshop/studio back soon woo hoo! Delayed gratification is coming my way!😆😊 Nearly left without asking, are you ok? You sounded a bit flat in the video that's all, just incase, I'll send some funky chicken vibe your way, you can't help but laugh at it.😄
I'm sure you're excited to get back in your workshop! I recorded much later at night than I normally do, so I was a little tired when I recorded this time. Thanks for asking 😊 (and the funky chicken vibes😂)
@@chrisloudart ah well, that's good to hear that you're ok, and I'm glad you got the funky chicken vibes there's nothing like a good smile and giggle to put a bit vim in you're energy. And you're well appreciated we all like getting our Chris Loud painting demos, so look after yourself! Cheers!
It's not easy to overcome that's for sure. Try playing with some small practice pieces on paper with the whole intention of covering up the first layer-no matter what. Your goal is to see what you can create once you've covered all or most of the first layer. You got this!😊👍
You Stinker, Lol at least tell us what genre the song was from or year. Love the painting, esp. the squares. Curious what brand acrylics do you use. I think it makes a big difference.
Aren't I though? It isn't a very well known song from 2023 and the genre is indie rock/pop. I’ll leave the song details up to your imagination. I typically use Winsor & Newton Galeria and some Liquitex Basics. How about you?
I have Van Gogh's ear for music. Great inspiring video...yet again. Many thanks 👍
😂 Thanks so much DG!
Remaking this one on a canvas..wa la masterpiece 👌. Ann
Thanks so much, Ann!❤️

gorgeous
Thanks so much, Michele!
This is a really neat idea - I'll have a go with Mob Rules by Black Sabbath, so there won't be many bright, cheerful colours!
Thanks, Steven! I'd love to see what Mob Rules brings out! That album cover has a great color scheme.
Love this. Must try. Thank you for making this video ❤

Oh i would love to know the song and to then watch the video again whilst listening to the song. To get a deeper perspective.
Unfortunately, since I sped the video up I don't know if that would work very well. I tried that and it has a very different feel to it.
More videos like this. Do you work in watercolor? Please do.
