This is just terrific. There is shockingly little on UA-cam related to the physical location of this, the real, actual Tin Pan Alley. Thank you for posting this crucially important and shockingly neglected historical nerve center in its current state. Every single popular song, jazz tune, even hip-hop, contemporary “R&B”, Blues, Broadway show tunes... Music that continues to be deeply embedded in our culture and has had impact around the world… It was all literally born here and disseminated to the rest of the world from this one block, expanding of course when The Brill Building and so on were established. London certainly had a lively Tin Pan Alley of their own, but this is really the mother source, the true birthplace of popular music.
I'm so happy it's helpful. We have a lot more information on our website you should check out hdc.org/policy/a-brief-ish-history-of-tin-pan-alley-policy/

Great little intro to this cornerstone of American music. Nice background for my study on the history of music publishing. Much appreciated.
This is a tremendous help as I'm taking an American Music in American Life college course. Thank you!

Shouldn't there be a permanent public piano in Tin Pan Alley due to its musical historical importance?
As good as this video was, I just want to say I feel privileged to be the 69th like :)
