These shoes are great for 4:30-5:30 minute Kms. I find them a bit heavy for running 4 minute splits but I use Fast R nitro elite for speedy days. I also use liberate nitro for 100 meter strides and velocity nitro 2 for extra slow recovery or long runs. I love puma gear.
Literally just bought the Ciele Athletics collab version, because i really wanted to try puma running shoes for once, that seemed like the perfect opportunity, even though it was a bit more expensive. And i’ve been loving it, the foam feels a bit squishyer in the forefoot (like a NB rc elite 2 squish) with a much more relaxed plate that magicly only starts to kick in once you pick up the pace. You can definitely feel the foam difference in the heel. Been using it for almost anything up to 15k. The Puma Grip is SICK. Continental rubber just got dethroned imho.
I bought the wide version last year as I needed a bit more room. I’ve loved the shoe since day one. Ran my marathon and 5k pb in it earlier this year 👍
Got this beauty today for 109$! Thank you for your videos Kofuzi! I also got Adidas SL and preparing for my first start in Honolulu this december. Good luck in your running carrier.
Best daily trainer ever. Period. Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 comes close for me. Just picked up a new pair in this yellow colour-way for £85. It's a steal.
Thanks for the review and heads up on the sale @kofuzi . I've been waiting for a year for these to go on sale in Canada... And this weekend they are 🎉. Picked up the deviate nitro 2 and deviate elite for 5 and 10k races and training. I'm excited to run these on dirt and gravel fines too. Finally!
How do you like them so far? I'm especially curious about the grip in slippery conditions and stability, since I'm a bit of a overpronator. I suppose the Elite will be less stable, right?
@@lukaszpowalowski8342 the grip is stellar, even in rain. The heel and forefoot have a lot of sole flare and some sidewalls, so those areas are stable, but the midfoot around the arch is very narrow, which I imagine could be improved upon. So far I prefer them for easier and aerobic paces as the plate and rubber sole can feel a bit harsh when putting a lot of power through the shoe.
I bought a Deviate Nitro 2 after your preliminary review and wow, no downsides! As you presented, after running for 165 miles my shoes are impeccable! For me, the best of this shoe is that it fits as a standard shoe without plate, but once you start running, you can feel the extra responsiveness with a good durability and they are really comfortable for all kinds of trainings. Puma Deviate Nitro 2 was my first plated running shoe and I can guarantee that if you are looking to buy your first plated shoe, you are not going to regret about them. Thanks for your reviews, your videos are always awesome! Congrats and keep running! 🏃
Just a very great shoe. 260km in it within the past 8 months, and the outsole looks still almost like new. Super grip even in wet conditions, grip on light gravel stuff, great to do interval workouts in…. Totally underrated
Picked them up at great discount in France and they are fantastic! Almost too fast for me as a casual runner I cannot stop myself to picking up speed. Combined them with Novablast 3 for easier runs and love that pairing. I’ll be wearing them in my next half marathon
I have 405 miles on my pair and they still feel amazing. I almost never have shoes last more than 300 miles, and things like Hokas are dead after ~200. Sensational shoes all around. Best daily trainer on the market.
Another happy runner with this shoe. I would go as far as to say, this outsole is magical. It seriously reminds me of my merrell moab 3 which I wear as daily shoe using the vibram outsole for serious outdoor demands. The traction is just that good. In some other runing shoes I find that I need to keep a slight watch of my form espeically on slippery surfaces. It's sort of like a backend process of windows that eats up a bit of your memory for mostly nothing. And causing extra strain for my leg muscles. With this shoe there is not a single moment of such worry so my lower body and leg muscles are extremely loose and relax and it helped me to run way more efficient. The grip is that good. As for the shoe itself I'd say this is about as close we can get to the benchmamrk ES3. It is about the same soft and bouncy, natural, but effortless ride. Maybe even slightly more cushioned and more plush than ES3. Basically everything you feel with ES3 is present here. The difference is obviously this is not as light and nimble,. But in a trade off this has a much better upper in my opinion. On typical ES3 you don't feel anything special. But this upper really hug tight like a good sock while not being painfully tight. For nomal person you'd be happy to use this everyday. For me I'm happy that I don't have to keep stocking up ES3 after I retire one pair coz there are just as many good alternatives out there.
Saw the video yesterday. Order it today 😂 Needed a fast shoe for tempo and racing. Was a contender with Endorphin Speed 3. Had tested that one this summer for an 5k event. Lets something new 😅 Thanks Ko
I have the Deviate Nitro Elite 1, Worst thing about them is putting them on ! I have to go sockless, once on they feel nice and snug and about right, Used for Park Run for first time and they felt fantastic, So light but cushioned, Now a Puma fan.
I love the Deviate nitro 2, onto my second pair. Unfortunately I wear my shoes quicker than normal on the outside of the heels but these have lasted reasonably well as I reach for them a lot
Kofusi, I just bought one to try it. I’ve been running with Hoka over the last four years and love it, but I wanted to try it on this Puma. I hope to see you around here in Lincoln Park. We are neighbors here.
This is a great video! How would you compare to the speed 3 as I tested both today and I felt like a boss in the puma, but I'm worried about it compared to speed 3 for half distance. Again, one of if not the best video reviewers on UA-cam. If I see you in Crystal Lake at all HOPTOPUS are on me.🤜
My journey with Puma started with their Faas series back in 2015. Wore out that shoe and had to move to Adidas because puma dropped the ball on running shoes for a few years. Now this nitro foam is amazing. Been running in their velocity nitro shoe for the last 1 year and loving it. And buying deviate nitro 2 as a daily trainer
I am slow so don't buy fast shoes or super shoes because I am not there yet in terms of seeing performance gains, so I appreciate the mention of this being an option for race day. I'm trying to calibrate what type of runner would this be a race day pick for. In your opinion, could this be a race shoe for a slow half-marathoner? Say two hour type of half marathon on road?
This is perfect for that pace. It's comfortable and stable enough at slower paces but you can pick up the pace in them if needed. I ran my first half in these and they were great.
These would absolutely work for that pace. I used them for my first and only (so far) half marathon and they were great. I did 1:35 in that race, but when doing my general runs I certainly do plenty that are at 5 minutes or under. These cruise along nicely at that pace. The DN2 are very good for holding a steady pace and are cushioned enough to plod in too. My wife's friend is just getting into running and she picked up a pair. She just did a 14km race in them yesterday and did really well, I think at about 5:20 per km pace. She loves them and I'd say she rarely runs above 5 minutes per km pace.
That's a good pace, imo. I consider myself a slow runner as well. I just ordered these for my long runs. I have been running in pegasus turbo from pegasus 39 and been looking to purchase a better cushioned and plated shoe. I ran my last half in 1:43 but felt like I needed more cushion
I just bought the Puma x Ciele version and OMG they are beautiful! I paid full price for these ones because they are so special but I already love them, so next year when I retire on of my shoes, I will be a discounted pair (here in the UK, they are always on sale)
Interesting you mention the issue with the tongue tilting towards your lateral side - I have exactly the same problem. Otherwise, love this shoe. Puma are on a winner with their range at the moment.
Hey man, I bought this shoe when I started running a couple of months ago thanks to your video. While I know that I'm still a beginner (8ish mins/km easy pace), I think I'm ready to expand my rotation. What else would you recommend to pair with this aside from the Asics and On shoes? Specifically from New Balance, Nike, and Adidas (since they're the most common brands where I'm from).
I feel like I get the most out of these (in terms of cushioning and energy return) if I'm landing mid-foot if not a little heel first... have to adjust my gait/landing slightly to manage this. 70kg, 20min 5km runner
Hi Kofuzi from the UK, great video….I have just purchased the WTR version for the winter while they were on offer on the PUMA website. Do you think they will perform the same?
@@owenlewis9258interesting 🤔 So the non WTR version feels faster, right? I'm standing before the choice of getting either the normal or the WTR version. I want to buy a pair especially for the wet autumn/winter miles.
Hi, may I ask if you're satisfied with the WTR version? I'm considering to get either these or the non WTR version for the autumn/winter period, exclusively for running in wet conditions.
@@lukaszpowalowski8342 I think they are ideal for puddles and light trails in autumn/winter, the outsole is great. For wet conditions get the WTR as a fast trainer 👍
Comparing this shoe with Boston 12 would make much more sense than Adizero SL considering the price point of these shoes. Nitro foam more suitable for daily purposes than any other foam that I've ever experienced. I was also using the elite version for my training days to benefit from less weight.
Adidas has trained me to pretty much ignore the Boston since the 9. I do have a pair of the 12 coming in soon, so I will be able to test it for myself. I don't particularly want to, but it seems like a lot of runners are insisting that it isn't the confusing mess that versions 10 and 11 were. so long answer short: I cannot offer a comparison to a shoe I have not tested.
@@kofuzi I think you will like it. It's not that different from deviate nitro 2 and maybe even better at speed works. Thanks for explanation. Looking forward to your review.
I just got hold of a brand new pair for £44! I have been steering towards non-plated shoes for daily training recently, but at this price, I just couldn't resist 😅
I liked the idea behind this shoe so much. I even got a pink pair in size 47 EU and was actually loving the color. But they don't fit. Unfortunately PUMA does something weird with the sizing. They just sell you a size 14 US telling you that it is a 48 and a 48,5 EU. So no I have the option between a very tight fit or a loos fit. Now I am looking at ASICS to find an alternative to this whole mess.
Just picked up the 🔥 colourway from a local Puma outlet for £50. Looking forward them to use them on wet tarmac. My Speed 3 feel a little bit dangerous going at pace on the roads.
This shoe is the real deal guys, maybe not so much for speedwork but for daily miles and Long Steady Efforts I don't want to run in anything else... period!
Is there any chance you could film the intro of the shoes when they're clean before you run in them? Would love to see what the shoes look like when they're brand new.
Having the same issue with the tongues sitting off to the sides, so I don't think it's your gait, it's the shoe. No issues with them otherwise though, an excellent mix of cushion and propulsion.

Since you say this is your favorite Puma shoe, I assume that you prefer it over the Deviate Nitro 2 Elite that you've also reviewed? Also, perhaps you can also do a separate video about it if you think the subject warrants it, but what are your thoughts about this "super trainer" sub-category that's being thrown around? I guess the DN2 can be categorized as such along with various other new trainers with high stack and a plate of some sort but, personally, I don't really care how high or low the stack is and what is (or not) in the midsole as long as it provides the kind of ride that suits my personal preferences for daily training purposes.

These shoes are great for 4:30-5:30 minute Kms. I find them a bit heavy for running 4 minute splits but I use Fast R nitro elite for speedy days. I also use liberate nitro for 100 meter strides and velocity nitro 2 for extra slow recovery or long runs. I love puma gear.
thanks for the feedback!
This Kofuzi review gets an A. The fish shot was neat and I liked the quick edits at the beginning.
I bought the wide version last year as I needed a bit more room. I’ve loved the shoe since day one. Ran my marathon and 5k pb in it earlier this year 👍
Now that’s versatility
Absolutely loving the Deviate Nitro 2! Already clocked 700km and still going strong.
Nice
How much do you expect it to last for you ?
Can i ask? Is it worth it when i got this pair of dn2 with in ongoing 300km+?
Got this beauty today for 109$! Thank you for your videos Kofuzi! I also got Adidas SL and preparing for my first start in Honolulu this december. Good luck in your running carrier.
Great price!
Best daily trainer ever. Period. Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 comes close for me. Just picked up a new pair in this yellow colour-way for £85. It's a steal.
I'm already preparing for the upcoming wet months, and will definitely be picking up the weatherized version of the DN2!
Just picked these up too, puma running a 40% off sale on their site through tomorrow!
That first song just took me back 10 years to my EDC days 😵😵
@@teamgeist3328 edm ain’t for everyone, to each their own preferences 👏🏾 have a great day ☺️
Thanks for the review and heads up on the sale @kofuzi . I've been waiting for a year for these to go on sale in Canada... And this weekend they are 🎉. Picked up the deviate nitro 2 and deviate elite for 5 and 10k races and training. I'm excited to run these on dirt and gravel fines too. Finally!
glad to hear they've gone on sale up there!
@@keitheager6023 appreciate the feedback!! Hmm i was reading there's apparently a wider version around, will try to test that!
So happy to hear you’re enjoying it. Thanks for letting us know how it’s been going for you!
Just ordered a pair for $80+shipping on Ciele. Excited to get them in hand. Thanks for the review!
Happy running!
Love the intro edit 🙌 thanks for the review
Thank you 🙏
I loved these shoes so much that immediately after the first run I said I'll be buying more of this one 👌
nice
Just a very great shoe. 260km in it within the past 8 months, and the outsole looks still almost like new. Super grip even in wet conditions, grip on light gravel stuff, great to do interval workouts in…. Totally underrated
Can I do my first marathon on it?
Picked them up at great discount in France and they are fantastic! Almost too fast for me as a casual runner I cannot stop myself to picking up speed. Combined them with Novablast 3 for easier runs and love that pairing. I’ll be wearing them in my next half marathon
great combo!
Just got mine yesterday, took them out for a half marathon this morning and loved them!
It doesn't need a break in period?
So, he's talking about the elite. Look, the shoe says elite. This is so confusing.😮 0:14
I've never owned Puma shoes but now I want to. I will definitely have to give these a try. Thanks for the review, Mike!
This is a great place to start
Love that running footage! This is an interesting shoe that wasn’t on my radar. Will have to check it out.
I was pleasantly surprised by it
Just ordered my pair, I'm really excited to try them on my usual 10km runs.
Recently picked up the Superblast… at a discounted price (rewards cash) so I’m so tempted to pick these up too! $110 is a steal.
I have 405 miles on my pair and they still feel amazing. I almost never have shoes last more than 300 miles, and things like Hokas are dead after ~200. Sensational shoes all around. Best daily trainer on the market.
Thanks for the update!
That intro is fire
Just bought these shoes on discount. Looking forward to running in them
Fully agreed, very nice shoes and has been enjoying it so much. One best thing was the great discount!
So nice that it’s on sale!
I have the Deviate Nitro Elite 1, Worst thing about them is putting them on ! I have to go sockless, once on they feel nice and snug and about right, Used for Park Run for first time and they felt fantastic, So light but cushioned, Now a Puma fan.
the elite uses PUMAGRIP LT which isn't so great as regular pumagrip or pumagrip ATR used in the deviate 2
Just managed to snag a pair of these in the new year sales on Puma’s site for £83.00, can’t wait to run in them!
Nice
I love the Deviate nitro 2, onto my second pair. Unfortunately I wear my shoes quicker than normal on the outside of the heels but these have lasted reasonably well as I reach for them a lot
have the same issue.
Have you tried boston 12? tossing up these 2?
Kofusi, I just bought one to try it. I’ve been running with Hoka over the last four years and love it, but I wanted to try it on this Puma. I hope to see you around here in Lincoln Park. We are neighbors here.
sorry to inform you that my family moved out to the suburbs about a year ago
This is a great video! How would you compare to the speed 3 as I tested both today and I felt like a boss in the puma, but I'm worried about it compared to speed 3 for half distance. Again, one of if not the best video reviewers on UA-cam. If I see you in Crystal Lake at all HOPTOPUS are on me.🤜
I go half size up in this shoe and fits much better. This is really fun to run with. Must have!
Glad to hear it!
Just ordered the water repellent version for winter training... can't wait to try them!
happy running!
I literally just ordered mine. I’ll try them out since the Superblast gives me a blister
I’m gonna buy this shoe. So excited.
Have fun!
Thank you for the idea.
Just snagged these for $89. Loved the Deviate Elite, so far liking them after 1 run.
Glad to hear it!
I've been a big fan of the deviate nitros the last couple years
I've done over 1000 kms in these shoes! Just brilliant
Nice!
Ohhhh well you’ve convinced me, and for well under €90 here in France , definitely worth giving it a go!!!
hope you enjoy!
Got this shoes, and it is my all around training shoes right now, can do both speedworks and easy runs
My current rotation is: Puma Deviate Nitro 2 / NB SC Trainer / NB Elite v3 ⚡⚡⚡ Looking for a Takumi rn 😅
Most underrated and talked about shoe of 2023. Truly flying under the radar. It just get's the job done.....every day. I LOVE mine.
I just did 21km yesterday with this. Superb shoe
Nice
Just bought my deviate nitro 2 for 100$>, super excited to try it out after watching this video.
Nice
now that the price has come down, this become interesting... but the new Adidas Boston 12 looks like a very good versatile option too 🤔
I am slow so don't buy fast shoes or super shoes because I am not there yet in terms of seeing performance gains, so I appreciate the mention of this being an option for race day.
Thank you@@fiatlux8828 , I have been eyeing the puma x Ciele collab on this shoe
I just took them on a half marathon and liked them.
Just found and bought for 40$ small discoloring so we’re sent to Ross! Inspected and I think are clear so gonna go for it!
They had the devi8, Magnify and Fast R at my local Ross. Went for the Devi8 and have been absolutely loving them.
Interesting you mention the issue with the tongue tilting towards your lateral side - I have exactly the same problem. Otherwise, love this shoe. Puma are on a winner with their range at the moment.
I heard that they will release Deviate Nitro 3 this October, would love to see you try and review them specifically
Hi ko! Novablast 3 and deviate nitro 2 which one is better ?
very, very good review.. make a strong case for this shoe
I bought it with 50% off 😍 and the green color it looks spectacular.
very nice work
Just got it for 107 euro on the Puma site. Can't wait to try out.
happy running!
Hi Kofuzi from the UK, great video….I have just purchased the WTR version for the winter while they were on offer on the PUMA website. Do you think they will perform the same?
I'm not familiar with Puma WTR versions
I have both and would question whether the foam in the heel is the same. To me the foam in the WTR heel feels less squishy and deader 🤔
@@owenlewis9258interesting 🤔
So the non WTR version feels faster, right?
Where did you source it if you don't mind sharing, please?
Link pls?
@@solefreak2 it was on ebay
Just snagged a pair for $112. Sorta can’t miss at that price, even if it gets used mostly in shit weather because of the goat outsole.
THANK YOU
Just picked up the 🔥 colourway from a local Puma outlet for £50. Looking forward them to use them on wet tarmac. My Speed 3 feel a little bit dangerous going at pace on the roads.
love these for post-rain hill reps
Nice
This shoe is the real deal guys, maybe not so much for speedwork but for daily miles and Long Steady Efforts I don't want to run in anything else... period!
Is there any chance you could film the intro of the shoes when they're clean before you run in them? Would love to see what the shoes look like when they're brand new.
Yup. See video linked in description.
Having the same issue with the tongues sitting off to the sides, so I don't think it's your gait, it's the shoe. No issues with them otherwise though, an excellent mix of cushion and propulsion.
just bought it. reallly cool
Glad you enjoy it!
@@kofuzi thanks for your videos. really helpful. i bought both puma deviate nitro 2 and new balance more v4 after watching your "after 100 miles" video. ❤❤
got this shoe on 70% sale online for only $95 im excited to run with this..
Happy running!
Nice review and exactly my sentiments about this great all-round running shoe. I have two pairs with about 100 miles each (one in black for the rainy days and road-to-mild-trails excursions) and they are still going strong.
Not just one, buy 2!
