WM here who dated a fair number of BW before getting married to a BW (married 30 years now). As you note, we WM face a threshold question about whether a particular BW might be interested in a WM at all. We get rejected just for being white. It happens. In addition, however, there is also a worry that she will think we were just a thrill-seeker trying to satisfy a "brown sugar" fetish, as opposed to a man interested in a human woman who is black. So we go overboard in simply showing human, friend-like interest to make it clear that we are really interested.
This is why it's so difficult for WM and BW to connect.Most WM don't think that BW are interested so they do not approach us which is understandable.. But I know that as a BW we also don't think WM are interested in us so no one makes a move!! I can't tell you how many times I have been out and there are WM staring at me (Im a pretty BW) but making no moves so WM sits there staring at me all night..I understand that the normal assumption would be we all prefer BM but I actually don't but it's so hard to meet WM and I don't feel comfortable marching up to a WM and starting a. conversation . . .

I initially thought he was uncomfortable, considering “where the restaurant was located”. Until he eventually walked over and told me I was the prettiest woman he had ever seen. How sweet!

Black women have always been attracted to me. I have an idea why. First because I don't treat them any different than any other women, which is charming, funny (dark sense of humor), and I get to the point. Also I won the NY Golden Gloves and never lost a street fight despite growing up in a mixed race neighborhood, and black girls tend to like guys who can handle themselves. Lastly, being handsome doesn't hurt either.
Hi Amanda. Thanks for explaining this. As someone who’s dated white men, I’ve noticed this. There’s a guy I know for 10 years. I couldn’t remember exactly how we met. In the last 2 years we’ve been in touch more often since he’s moved to the city I live. Since the end of lockdown and everything opening up again we’ve caught up in person in social gatherings and Christian assemblies. At these events he’s always come to find where I’m seated and chat during breaks. We happened to go out to dinner recently with another group of people last weekend and that’s the most time I spent in his company. We went home together. He so proudly tells people how he met me. He’s such a character and I can be my true self around him.

I've always been attracted to and have dated white men, white boys when I was younger. I prefer the approach of white men. Their approach is usually gentlemen like. I don't like aggressive males.
You never liked the “gentleman” approach when black men approached you I bet. Some things work differently depending on race. White men have an easier time picking up women of color when putting up the gentlemen aura but men of color must be assertive when approaching other women of color. We can’t afford to slip up either.
As a BW I find that when I do pay attention to a WM and our eyes meet I always look away first because I think he won't be interested in me as a Black Woman and nobody likes to feel silly about maybe a chance at talking...

Hi Amanda I met my partner at our place of work we joked and chatted and eventually became friends. She had arrived here in England from East Africa with her husband. They had three children together. Her husband abandoned her and the children never to be seen again. The poor woman was in a desperate state working as many jobs as she could to support her young family. I offered to do repairs and redecorate her home. She was so relieved to have a friend. Over time we became close and now I have a beautiful African Queen who I love dearly as a bonus l have three young people that l love very much and in return they love me. I've seen her boys grow from small boys grow into tall young men and her girl into a beautiful princess. I'm a happy man.
A European (White) Man who wants to have an actual relationship with a woman of African descent often chooses a woman that is quite beautiful (at least to that European/White Man she is!). He will first seek to interact with her verbally, talking to her…being what she considers as “nice”. He’s presenting himself to her but women of African descent do not presume niceness to mean “relational/emotional interest”. He will listen to her to learn her preferences, character traits, intellect, etc. She thinks he’s wonderfully understanding and compassionate. (LOL!) If he has financial security….Once he has determined that he truly wants her to be “his” and his alone…..He will DO THINGS FOR HER. He will show her his ‘life’…..He will privately bring her into his personal space….his home….his office/company, etc. He will follow her habits to know what she is likely to be doing and when she will be doing it. A European (White) man with financial resources will simply make use of those resources for her benefit. He is NOT showing off….He is doing what European (White) men with wealth do….because accessing their resources is their “normal” when (and only when) they have determined that a Woman of African descent is a Woman he ‘wants’ and ‘needs’. That;s what those resources are for….to be used for something important or satisfying to that man. She becomes his ‘center’….and he is very sensitive to her emotional state….He’s not faking it….He truly is that uncomfortable if she becomes angry with him. Women of African descent make it clear when a man has messed up! Her slightest criticism will cut him like a knife. European men (White men) are not accustomed to the emotional directness that often comes with a Woman of African descent….and they love it…..dread it…..and will do anything possible to avoid it!!! As a white man, I find black women extremely sensual and sexy. But what holds me back is that I have this mindset that they aren't going to be attracted to me because I am white...well technically native american but light skinned. For instance, there's a girl that I see every morning and she just takes my breath away every time I see her. But I'm hesitant because I have no idea how to approach her or even if she would be willing to go out. The weird thing is, is that I have no problem approaching white women, and getting them to date me. Maybe it's because I don't find them as intimidating because the attraction isn't as strong. This may be a silly question but are the Lakota people of the N/S Dakotas? I'm always curious to learn more about indigenous/native tribes. And your fears/insecurities are VERY common. Truly, I hear this from at least one commenter on each video haha. Hopefully some of my content can help to relax those fears and as I always say, you really never know when you approach any woman what the outcome will be regardless of race/ethnicity and just because a black woman may turn you down that doesn't even necessarily mean it's because of your race/ethnicity. The difference in bm/wm approach is true. The subtleness is true...i started working at a restaurant as a hostess. Immediately, one of the chef assistants, a black man, came out to me as im standing at the podium, diners in the restaurant and everything, and asked if he could take me out lol.... meanwhile, a server, a white guy, has been super thoughtful and subtle that I have to double-back and think...why is he so apologetic, thoughtful and considerate towards me....and it seems like me only? Does he like me?? And his thoughtfulness actually made me realize he's very handsome too. So now I'm crushing on him lol
Yeah, it can be a very different approach depending on the men involved and I don't think neither is any better or worse. The positive of a direct approach is there is no lack of clarity. INME, it's very subtle. They may offer to carry your grocery bag, or something else you may have in your hands. They will speak above a whisper so that you close in while in a public space. They may approach you with their head tilted down with a schoolboyish grin. They may ask for your random opinion about something in a vinyl shop. Because black women aren't used to this kind of display of masculinity, we tend to think nothing is happening. If he's into you, he will smile at you. They aren't going to straight up ask for your number until they get the green light to do so.

As a white man I love black women because I have felt more nurtured by black women growing up than by white women, excluding my mom-she is amazing. As a black woman from Africa living currently in Sweden, I used to find white men here strange. It is making a little bit sense now after watching this video because I was most of the time pissed of by the attitude of some of them. They would stare at you and some time you feel like they are following, them being around you almost all the time. If you make eye contact, they sometimes look elsewhere. I found it creepy actually because I'm used to the black men ways. They are usually direct and to me, that reduces the risks of misunderstanding. But now I know that they mean no harm, in the contrary. But still it feels weird to me!

I've seen BW date a certain type of BM, get hurt, switch to a different race, and date the same type of man and get the same results. When you get around my age (assuming you aren't already there) you'll start noticing that the people you meet have past from which they've experienced emotionally trauma from a past relationship. Certain types of people handle it differently than others. Both my current wife and my ex Gf (who was a BW) both experienced trauma in their past relationship but they are night and day compared to how that trauma manifested itself and how they dealt with it. All I can say is one of them worked on improving herself and the other one didn't. I married the one who became the better woman.
I went through the same situation in highschool with my best friend who was a white guy . Me and him use to make fun of each other and used humor a lot. He later admitted to me he had liked me 7 years later. because we had lost contact with each other. I told him I never knew or what have guessed. I admitted I liked him too. I never noticed how subtle white men are when it comes to their approach. That’s so attractive to me.

Certainly my realisation that I was attracted to Black women was at first me thinking that it was unlikely that I would be able to find a Black woman who would want a relationship with me, a white man. Before I met my wife I pursue a black woman for 6 months who told me she is only interested in white men. She told me for her to change her mind I need to make $200k/year, have a house, drive a BMW, and pay 100% of her bills. Oh man, I think the anxiety is there for men of other color when it comes to approaching black women. I'm a mix hispanic/white man who has always adored black women, but have been a little intimidated by how strong they can come off as. Not to mention also being of a heavier set adding to the anxiety lol.
I've been with my black girlfriend for 8 years, and I think she appreciates the fact that I love her not because she's black, I love her for who she is. We did have the conversation early on in our relationship over whether or not I was dating her as a novelty just because of her colour (we live in Western Australia, which has to be one of the whitest places on the planet). I think my confused reaction probably said all she needed to know, but I just told her I was dating her because I thought she was hot. As a result of that conversation, even today her nickname is Hot Stuff. Yes, I love the fact that she's black, but it's an incidental part of why I find her attractive. I play the guitar and sing in a band, so I've never had an issue with confidence, but I do find it odd that white men would be intimidated by the thought of approaching black women. Any woman, regardless of colour, is going to smell that fear/hesitancy from a mile off, and she's likely to be put off by it. So any white man who displays such behaviour when approaching a black woman is just setting himself up for failure.

Anyways, you basically described my approach to a certain black woman I’ve had a crush on for months. Even though she was the one who approached me and she’s definitely flirted with me a lot and made what I thought were advances. But we’ve maintained a friendship for months. She’s not been direct with me and it’s made me afraid to make a move even though I think she wants me to. Anyways now my main concern is that she’s no longer interested in me because I was so afraid to make a move when in hindsight, it was obvious she was wanting me to make a move on many occasions.
You should go for it. How old are you exactly? I'm almost 24 and I'm always mistaken for 14-15. It's a bit annoying but once I get in my late 20s early 30s I don't think I'll care as much.
You are so spot on! We (I) start out as friends but then get scared of compromising the friendship later. It’s also a way of ensuring you do nothing that is insincere. Touch, hugs, compliments can help build up that confidence to something more-what’s the woman’s responses to those things-men’s fear will melt away if the response matches the effort.

I don't know. I work closely with a lovely white man and i did try to show interest but i have enjoyed getting to know him as a friend. I noticed he seems to put space between us. In example I tried to initiate hanging out sometime and he agrees, but he always says he has other plans. I think he likes me more as a friend, which is fine. Im not trying to make something thats not comfortable. So now i just focus on myself and still be a good friend.

As a Black American Man, I encourage our counterparts to go for it or whoever they like. We as Black men have been doing it for along time. Explore your options; we do. Not all Caucasian guys prefer Asian & Latino women as pushed by media, society etc. Same for us Black men; so many folks think we run after Caucasian women. That's far from the truth, heck all my friends are married to different types of Asian women. In our FB groups we have quite a few Asian men that are in relationships with Black women. Ladies go for it. Just want to encourage Black Men & Women Not to put down each other. That narrative is Very destructive.
I will say, 98% of my interracial(I'm a white male/dating black females) relationships have come from online dating. But the "feeling like a creep," comment is def true and I hate to say the "metoo," movement has had an effect as well. Men in general and especially white men have to be more careful, especially when meeting a female in a work, social, or school environment. So we end up being very passive-aggressive, being friends first or where if we get rejected it's not a hard no, and we can take a small step back.
I'm sure the Me Too Movement did make many men take a step back from approaching women and if that is the price that we as a society have to pay to bring light to sexual harassment and discrimination then even though it sucks, it's worth it until we can find a better solution. I have found that most of the men who worry about being "creeps" aren't creeps and that when you do start off on that friendship footing you will have such a higher chance of having a successful relationship because you've been able to learn one another without the pressure that sometimes comes with romance. Its also 50% of something is better than nothing, that we rather be friends than be nothing. Where I think some other ethnicities of men it all or nothing is taught of how they should relate with women. I've also dated black trans women and you have to be even more passive-aggressive as they have been fetishized and sexualized by many cis men.

When I was in school I was super nervous. But the more I explored my attraction, the more natural it felt. Years later, when I first flirted with a black woman the difference was palpable. I winked at her in a slow and natural way. It made her face melt.

But I think the media doesn’t focus on what we have in common. Which is a lot. I had women of other races hit hard on me and I was too stupid to know.
At an early age, back in school, I usually had crushes on black girls but thought they wouldn't like me. And I didn't get along with most white girls. It felt like we came from different worlds. But by the time i got to high school and came out of my shell, i realized i had more of a chance with the girls i liked than i thought.

I think same race relationships will always be the "norm" but there are definitely many people out there willing to step outside the box. Just remember that at the end of the day people are people and men are men. The same standards you would apply to one group make sure you apply to all groups. The reality is that my girl is black but I never really think of her like that. When are together its so peaceful and that romantic connection in our environment feels restored.

You made a great point with being open to befriending white women, you’re exposing yourself to culture outside of your own. I’ve made friends with white girls and then women from middle school into adulthood. My best friends are Asian. I can comfortably relate to white men because I’ve always been in their spaces and now on a consistent basis because I entered a sailing ⛵️ program and it’s a predominantly white space and I’m sometimes the only black person in the room and I never feel like an outsider or hope that a black person will accompany me. I very much enjoy outdoor activities like hiking, sailing, climbing etc. I consider myself a granola girl and those qualities of me always bring me into white or other cultural spaces and it’s an entire joy. Another great thing about these spaces is everyone is in their practical gear and sharing an activity, you can’t really hide or be fake in those scenarios so it’s a great way to find genuine connections. With sports and outdoor activities you also discover who the jerks are (male and female) that never help if someone is struggling, or refuse to be team players - genuinely competent, kind, fun and considerate people stand out.
Great content Amanda, finally starting my journey towards interacial dating with other non black men, as point of refrence can you do a video about " What type of Questions to ask about Race" when it comes to a potential date/partner. Its great if black girls get to understand and vet men who can be secretly racist , who might not like black women and potentially try to fetishize us.
A black woman like Amanda can get any white man if she wants. It's impossible for a white man who is still blond to be able to handle a black woman like Amanda. I'm white and blonde so I'm weaker. I wouldn't have the physique to support such a strong physique. A white man Blonde doesn't have the slightest chance with a black woman. Serena Williams must control herself so as not to hurt her white husband. Imagine if Serena puts pressure on him?

As a White male who has dated a dozen or more Black women I can tell you this: you have to have confidence and swag. If they turn you down, just move on to the next one. I have dated 3 Black women who didn't even like White men but they dated me because I had Swag. Good luck, hope this helps.
Personally, and "personally" really is key here, I could care less if my partner has "swag" (which I don't think he does lol). I care far more about the character of a man and if they are good-natured and reliable. "Swag" is like a cherry on top!

Pretty spot on video the only things I would "nitpick" is for me its not that I or we don't believe BW would be interested in me/us its more us feeling out if you are a girl who doesn't have a problem with ID. Other than that pretty good insights over all.
Glad you thought this was spot on. And that's a worthy point to nitpick. I only mentioned it because in the emails and comments I receive from many men, they often mention their hesitation to approach black women because they have this preconceived notion we are uninterested in white men. I think a big part of it is the backlash from the Me2 movement. It seems like most anything a man would do comes off as creepy, even just saying "Hello." There's also the subtle cues that men may not pick up on that a woman is interested in them. Or maybe the women aren't sending THOSE signals but just the "friend" signals.
That's understandable. As someone who has been a victim of harassment personally and professionally I am a major fan of the MeToo Movement for bringing light to the harm many women deal with in the workplace and in their own lives. Of course. There’s no “all” or “everyone” to anything I discuss. I try to always make the disclaimer that I’m speaking from my own experience and that if I do generalize it’s for the sake of making a 10-12 minute video versus a 2-3 hour video where I try to break down all the nuance and even if I tried that would be impossible because we are all so nuanced and individuals vary significantly.
Full transparency… Twice married to a BM. The first cheated. Second (current) takes me for granted and hurts me out of his childhood hurt. OVER IT. Makes me wonder if I would have had a better relationship with someone outside of my race. My family is multiracial, but I identify as Black to keep it simple. I’ve found that some BM are intimidated by me. Some have told me so! I simply don’t know why. I’m a nice person. I’m a loving companion, faithful, intelligent, straightforward and generally a happy person. I don’t know why I’ve had “bad luck” with BM. Honestly, I don’t know if this marriage will last. (I’m truly trying) But if it’s not meant to be, I’d be open to dating a WM. I just wish to be loved and appreciated. Thank you for your video. It was illuminating.

I lived in a black neighborhood for over 40 years and you would be hard pressed to catch a BW being with a white man unless they were arguing in the street. Just about every BW I encountered in that time period often expressed how much they hated WM and their reasons were always very petty. Only after I moved out of that black neighborhood & bought a house in a quiet & peaceful neighborhood, only then did I find friendly & down to earth BW. They still won't date white guys, but at least they are a tad bit more friendly as they aren't influenced or pressured by other jealous POC to stay away from WM. A lot of the time, the thing that keeps BW away from WM and visa-versa is usually the pressure from other people of the same race who insist that you stay with your own kind and dictate your happiness for you. Sometimes WW do it to WM as well.
From an older generation, but I recall being pretty direct with black women I liked romantically. Yes, I tried to be friends first, but I didn't wait months or years to make my interest clear.

This is an eye opening video. I feel like I’m in a twilight zone. Back in 2021, I was living in a neighborhood that I moved out of in the fall of that year. Yet prior to that, there was a man who was white and very very tall that stopped me on the street to tell me I looked lovely or beautiful. I never really got a good look at his face I guess. I forgot all about it and moved into the current neighborhood I’m living in now. I happened to go to a grocery store in the old neighborhood this past Saturday night. I wasn’t going to go as it was a little late and as I walked into the supermarket, I got to an aisle and I saw this really tall guy, he just stood out to me for some reason. I glanced at him briefly and he looked my way so I decided to go into another aisle to pick up the things I needed. He actually came into the aisle and waved at me because I had my AirPods in. I took them out and he said to me “I just wanted to say you look lovely and I’m sure you hair if often.” I kind of didn’t know what to say but I said thank you and then he went about his way. I actually stared at his face and he had some beautiful green eyes and a super long beard. Then it came back to me that he’s the same guy who approached me a few years ago. It was eerie to me. Who would’ve thought that he would be in the same place I was in at the same time? I really don’t know why he keeps stopping to tell me this, but I just figure he’s giving me a compliment and I leave it at that. I guess I’m trying not to read into it, although some of my friends say that it’s a common way that white men flirt (he didn’t ask me for my number) 😂

🙋 greetings, as what maybe perceived as a white male. Half white half native. Been dating black women since 1969. The stories I could tell you. The good, the bad and the ugly of my experiences. My last and final woman of 18yrs of marriage. We were only friends for 24yrs. Because she's not only 10yrs younger but also we really didn't have the opportunity to connect because of me frequently in other relationships. Have had MANY white males ask me to teach them about approaching a black female. The majority fell out with, "I'm afraid of what my family and friends would think" cop out. THAT'S their main issue
You say half native. I'm curious what tribe you identify with if that's what you're referring to. And yes, the harsh reality is that a) many people simply aren't attracted to people outside of their race or b) those who are are not afraid of the social ramifications that can occur when dating someone outside of their race. I can sit here all day and encourage people to think beyond race but I can't alter reality lol. I do hope though that as the world continues to change and grow more people look at people as simply people and that we all begin to look towards heart and character over simply race. I was in a supermarket having trouble w the self checkout system. This whyt guy was very attractive next to me and offered to assist me in scanning my items….it never crossed my mind that it was flirting 🤦🏾♀️ . it didn’t hit me until once I got back to my car and we were both long gone 😒

I am not someone who wants to be on dating sites and I’ve been working on smiling in general public when I see attractive white men. At the gym, there’s one guy who is from a different country and he comes over to say ‘hi’ and ask about my business venture I’m working on. I’ve also been doing a speed dating service and twice this year was picked by white men for a 1 on 1 date. So I’m trying to figure out how to get around them more so I can really get in the dating scene.

WM here who dated a fair number of BW before getting married to a BW (married 30 years now). As you note, we WM face a threshold question about whether a particular BW might be interested in a WM at all. We get rejected just for being white. It happens. In addition, however, there is also a worry that she will think we were just a thrill-seeker trying to satisfy a "brown sugar" fetish, as opposed to a man interested in a human woman who is black. So we go overboard in simply showing human, friend-like interest to make it clear that we are really interested.

This is why it's so difficult for WM and BW to connect.Most WM don't think that BW are interested so they do not approach us which is understandable.. But I know that as a BW we also don't think WM are interested in us so no one makes a move!! I can't tell you how many times I have been out and there are WM staring at me (Im a pretty BW) but making no moves so WM sits there staring at me all night..I understand that the normal assumption would be we all prefer BM but I actually don't but it's so hard to meet WM and I don't feel comfortable marching up to a WM and starting a. conversation .

As a BW who does date out of my race, I first learned this in my twenties. A WM was continuously staring at me in a restaurant. I initially thought he was uncomfortable, considering “where the restaurant was located”. Until he eventually walked over and told me I was the prettiest woman he had ever seen. How sweet!

Black women have always been attracted to me. I have an idea why. First because I don't treat them any different than any other women, which is charming, funny (dark sense of humor), and I get to the point. Also I won the NY Golden Gloves and never lost a street fight despite growing up in a mixed race neighborhood, and black girls tend to like guys who can handle themselves. Lastly, being handsome doesn't hurt either.

Hi Amanda. Thanks for explaining this. As someone who’s dated white men, I’ve noticed this. There’s a guy I know for 10 years. I couldn’t remember exactly how we met. In the last 2 years we’ve been in touch more often since he’s moved to the city I live. Since the end of lockdown and everything opening up again we’ve caught up in person in social gatherings and Christian assemblies. At these events he’s always come to find where I’m seated and chat during breaks. We happened to go out to dinner recently with another group of people last weekend and that’s the most time I spent in his company. We went home together. He so proudly tells people how he met me. He’s such a character and I can be my true self around him.

I've always been attracted to and have dated white men, white boys when I was younger. I prefer the approach of white men. Their approach is usually gentlemen like. I don't like aggressive males.
You never liked the “gentleman” approach when black men approached you I bet. Some things work differently depending on race. White men have an easier time picking up women of color when putting up the gentlemen aura but men of color must be assertive when approaching other women of color. We can’t afford to slip up either.
As a BW I find that when I do pay attention to a WM and our eyes meet I always look away first because I think he won't be interested in me as a Black Woman and nobody likes to feel silly about maybe a chance at talking...

Hi Amanda I met my partner at our place of work we joked and chatted and eventually became friends. She had arrived here in England from East Africa with her husband. They had three children together. Her husband abandoned her and the children never to be seen again. The poor woman was in a desperate state working as many jobs as she could to support her young family. I offered to do repairs and redecorate her home. She was so relieved to have a friend. Over time we became close and now I have a beautiful African Queen who I love dearly as a bonus l have three young people that l love very much and in return they love me. I've seen her boys grow from small boys grow into tall young men and her girl into a beautiful princess. I'm a happy man.

A European (White) Man who wants to have an actual relationship with a woman of African descent often chooses a woman that is quite beautiful (at least to that European/White Man she is!). He will first seek to interact with her verbally, talking to her…being what she considers as “nice”. He’s presenting himself to her but women of African descent do not presume niceness to mean “relational/emotional interest”. He will listen to her to learn her preferences, character traits, intellect, etc. She thinks he’s wonderfully understanding and compassionate. (LOL!) If he has financial security….Once he has determined that he truly wants her to be “his” and his alone…..He will DO THINGS FOR HER. He will show her his ‘life’…..He will privately bring her into his personal space….his home….his office/company, etc. He will follow her habits to know what she is likely to be doing and when she will be doing it. A European (White) man with financial resources will simply make use of those resources for her benefit. He is NOT showing off….He is doing what European (White) men with wealth do….because accessing their resources is their “normal” when (and only when) they have determined that a Woman of African descent is a Woman he ‘wants’ and ‘needs’. That;s what those resources are for….to be used for something important or satisfying to that man. She becomes his ‘center’….and he is very sensitive to her emotional state….He’s not faking it….He truly is that uncomfortable if she becomes angry with him. Women of African descent make it clear when a man has messed up! Her slightest criticism will cut him like a knife. European men (White men) are not accustomed to the emotional directness that often comes with a Woman of African descent….and they love it…..dread it…..and will do anything possible to avoid it!!! In short - White men are careful but very deliberate when pursuing a Woman of African descent. He will enter “the unknown” of her social/professional/racial reality just to be with her. 🥰

As a white man, I find black women extremely sensual and sexy. But what holds me back is that I have this mindset that they aren't going to be attracted to me because I am white...well technically native american but light skinned. For instance, there's a girl that I see every morning and she just takes my breath away every time I see her. But I'm hesitant because I have no idea how to approach her or even if she would be willing to go out. The weird thing is, is that I have no problem approaching white women, and getting them to date me. Maybe it's because I don't find them as intimidating because the attraction isn't as strong.

This may be a silly question but are the Lakota people of the N/S Dakotas? I'm always curious to learn more about indigenous/native tribes. And your fears/insecurities are VERY common. Truly, I hear this from at least one commenter on each video haha. Hopefully some of my content can help to relax those fears and as I always say, you really never know when you approach any woman what the outcome will be regardless of race/ethnicity and just because a black woman may turn you down that doesn't even necessarily mean it's because of your race/ethnicity. The difference in bm/wm approach is true. The subtleness is true...i started working at a restaurant as a hostess. Immediately, one of the chef assistants, a black man, came out to me as im standing at the podium, diners in the restaurant and everything, and asked if he could take me out lol.... meanwhile, a server, a white guy, has been super thoughtful and subtle that I have to double-back and think...why is he so apologetic, thoughtful and considerate towards me....and it seems like me only? Does he like me?? And his thoughtfulness actually made me realize he's very handsome too. So now I'm crushing on him lol
Yeah, it can be a very different approach depending on the men involved and I don't think neither is any better or worse. The positive of a direct approach is there is no lack of clarity. INME, it's very subtle. They may offer to carry your grocery bag, or something else you may have in your hands. They will speak above a whisper so that you close in while in a public space. They may approach you with their head tilted down with a schoolboyish grin. They may ask for your random opinion about something in a vinyl shop. Because black women aren't used to this kind of display of masculinity, we tend to think nothing is happening. If he's into you, he will smile at you. They aren't going to straight up ask for your number until they get the green light to do so.

As a black woman from Africa living currently in Sweden, I used to find white men here strange. It is making a little bit sense now after watching this video because I was most of the time pissed of by the attitude of some of them. They would stare at you and some time you feel like they are following, them being around you almost all the time. If you make eye contact, they sometimes look elsewhere. I found it creepy actually because I'm used to the black men ways. They are usually direct and to me, that reduces the risks of misunderstanding. But now I know that they mean no harm, in the contrary. But still it feels weird to me!

But, I do agree, it's difficult find people who can easily trust. When you get around my age (assuming you aren't already there) you'll start noticing that the people you meet have past from which they've experienced emotionally trauma from a past relationship. Certain types of people handle it differently than others.
Both my current wife and my ex Gf (who was a BW) both experienced trauma in their past relationship but they are night and day compared to how that trauma manifested itself and how they dealt with it.
All I can say is one of them worked on improving herself and the other one didn't. I married the one who became the better woman.
I went through the same situation in highschool with my best friend who was a white guy . Me and him use to make fun of each other and used humor a lot. He later admitted to me he had liked me 7 years later. because we had lost contact with each other. I told him I never knew or what have guessed. I admitted I liked him too. I never noticed how subtle white men are when it comes to their approach. That’s so attractive to me.

Hi Amanda, I think the trope that "Black women are the least likely to date and marry outside of their race" is believed by a lot of white men. Certainly my realisation that I was attracted to Black women was at first me thinking that it was unlikely that I would be able to find a Black woman who would want a relationship with me, a white man.

Before I met my wife I pursue a black woman for 6 months who told me she is only interested in white men. She told me for her to change her mind I need to make $200k/year, have a house, drive a BMW, and pay 100% of her bills.

Oh man, I think the anxiety is there for men of other color when it comes to approaching black women. I'm a mix hispanic/white man who has always adored black women, but have been a little intimidated by how strong they can come off as. Not to mention also being of a heavier set adding to the anxiety lol.
I've been with my black girlfriend for 8 years, and I think she appreciates the fact that I love her not because she's black, I love her for who she is. We did have the conversation early on in our relationship over whether or not I was dating her as a novelty just because of her colour (we live in Western Australia, which has to be one of the whitest places on the planet). I think my confused reaction probably said all she needed to know, but I just told her I was dating her because I thought she was hot. As a result of that conversation, even today her nickname is Hot Stuff. Yes, I love the fact that she's black, but it's an incidental part of why I find her attractive. I play the guitar and sing in a band, so I've never had an issue with confidence, but I do find it odd that white men would be intimidated by the thought of approaching black women. Any woman, regardless of colour, is going to smell that fear/hesitancy from a mile off, and she's likely to be put off by it. So any white man who displays such behaviour when approaching a black woman is just setting himself up for failure.

You are so spot on! We (I) start out as friends but then get scared of compromising the friendship later. It’s also a way of ensuring you do nothing that is insincere. Touch, hugs, compliments can help build up that confidence to something more-what’s the woman’s responses to those things-men’s fear will melt away if the response matches the effort.

I don't know. I work closely with a lovely white man and i did try to show interest but i have enjoyed getting to know him as a friend. I noticed he seems to put space between us. In example I tried to initiate hanging out sometime and he agrees, but he always says he has other plans. I think he likes me more as a friend, which is fine. Im not trying to make something thats not comfortable. So now i just focus on myself and still be a good friend.

If you can sense he’s not interested in you, then it’s best to move on and focus on yourself. Sometimes you have to let a man initiate something.
As a Black American Man, I encourage our counterparts to go for it or whoever they like. We as Black men have been doing it for along time. Explore your options; we do. Not all Caucasian guys prefer Asian & Latino women as pushed by media, society etc. Same for us Black men; so many folks think we run after Caucasian women. That's far from the truth, heck all my friends are married to different types of Asian women. In our FB groups we have quite a few Asian men that are in relationships with Black women. Ladies go for it. Just want to encourage Black Men & Women Not to put down each other. That narrative is Very destructive.
I will say, 98% of my interracial(I'm a white male/dating black females) relationships have come from online dating. But the "feeling like a creep," comment is def true and I hate to say the "metoo," movement has had an effect as well. Men in general and especially white men have to be more careful, especially when meeting a female in a work, social, or school environment. So we end up being very passive-aggressive, being friends first or where if we get rejected it's not a hard no, and we can take a small step back.
I'm sure the Me Too Movement did make many men take a step back from approaching women and if that is the price that we as a society have to pay to bring light to sexual harassment and discrimination then even though it sucks, it's worth it until we can find a better solution. I have found that most of the men who worry about being "creeps" aren't creeps and that when you do start off on that friendship footing you will have such a higher chance of having a successful relationship because you've been able to learn one another without the pressure that sometimes comes with romance. When I was in school I was super nervous. But the more I explored my attraction, the more natural it felt. Years later, when I first flirted with a black woman the difference was palpable. I winked at her in a slow and natural way. It made her face melt.

But I think the media doesn’t focus on what we have in common. Which is a lot. I had women of other races hit hard on me and I was too stupid to know.
At an early age, back in school, I usually had crushes on black girls but thought they wouldn't like me. And I didn't get along with most white girls. It felt like we came from different worlds. But by the time i got to high school and came out of my shell, i realized i had more of a chance with the girls i liked than i thought.

I’ve made friends with white girls and then women from middle school into adulthood. My best friends are Asian.
I can comfortably relate to white men because I’ve always been in their spaces and now on a consistent basis because I entered a sailing ⛵️ program and it’s a predominantly white space and I’m sometimes the only black person in the room and I never feel like an outsider or hope that a black person will accompany me.
I very much enjoy outdoor activities like hiking, sailing, climbing etc. I consider myself a granola girl and those qualities of me always bring me into white or other cultural spaces and it’s an entire joy. Can’t wait to meet my special someone.

Another great thing about these spaces is everyone is in their practical gear and sharing an activity, you can’t really hide or be fake in those scenarios so it’s a great way to find genuine connections. With sports and outdoor activities you also discover who the jerks are (male and female) that never help if someone is struggling, or refuse to be team players - genuinely competent, kind, fun and considerate people stand out.

A black woman like Amanda can get any white man if she wants. It's impossible for a white man who is still blond to be able to handle a black woman like Amanda. I'm white and blonde so I'm weaker. I wouldn't have the physique to support such a strong physique. A white man Blonde doesn't have the slightest chance with a black woman. Serena Williams must control herself so as not to hurt her white husband. Imagine if Serena puts pressure on him?
I totally agree with these sentiments. I'd be hesitant to show my interest in a black lady too in fear of rejection or goofiness lol But yes, i think white men are attracted to black women simply because they look different and are of a different culture. It makes it interesting to have these mixtures lol

As a White male who has dated a dozen or more Black women I can tell you this: you have to have confidence and swag. If they turn you down, just move on to the next one. I have dated 3 Black women who didn't even like White men but they dated me because I had Swag. Good luck, hope this helps.
Personally, and "personally" really is key here, I could care less if my partner has "swag" (which I don't think he does lol). I care far more about the character of a man and if they are good-natured and reliable. "Swag" is like a cherry on top!
I wish i would have found this 3yrs or more ago when i was with ny exfiance it would have done ny relationship real justice. I was so use to being treated like a piece of meat by black men i didnt know what to exspect. We were together8yrs he treat ke and my son so well. Him and my son just began talking again. I was really happy he answered him on messaenger. I really miss him its veen 3yrs and i still love him even more so. 😢😢😢due to my alcoholism i failed my family. Pretty spot on video the only things I would "nitpick" is for me its not that I or we don't believe BW would be interested in me/us its more us feeling out if you are a girl who doesn't have a problem with ID. Other than that pretty good insights over all.
Glad you thought this was spot on. And that's a worthy point to nitpick. I only mentioned it because in the emails and comments I receive from many men, they often mention their hesitation to approach black women because they have this preconceived notion we are uninterested in white men. I think a big part of it is the backlash from the Me2 movement. It seems like most anything a man would do comes off as creepy, even just saying "Hello." There's also the subtle cues that men may not pick up on that a woman is interested in them. Or maybe the women aren't sending THOSE signals but just the "friend" signals.
That's understandable. As someone who has been a victim of harassment personally and professionally I am a major fan of the MeToo Movement for bringing light to the harm many women deal with in the workplace and in their own lives. Of course. There’s no “all” or “everyone” to anything I discuss. I try to always make the disclaimer that I’m speaking from my own experience and that if I do generalize it’s for the sake of making a 10-12 minute video versus a 2-3 hour video where I try to break down all the nuance and even if I tried that would be impossible because we are all so nuanced and individuals vary significantly.

I don’t know why I’ve had “bad luck” with BM.

I lived in a black neighborhood for over 40 years and you would be hard pressed
to catch a BW being with a white man unless they were arguing in the street.
Just about every BW I encountered in that time period often expressed how much
they hated WM and their reasons were always very petty.
Only after I moved out of that black neighborhood & bought a house in a quiet &
peaceful neighborhood, only then did I find friendly & down to earth BW. They still
won't date white guys, but at least they are a tad bit more friendly as they aren't
influenced or pressured by other jealous POC to stay away from WM.
A lot of the time, the thing that keeps BW away from WM and visa-versa is usually
the pressure from other people of the same race who insist that you stay with your
own kind and dictate your happiness for you. Sometimes WW do it to WM as well.
Yeah it's really unfortunate how we allow others to influence our personal decisions and potentially block ourselves from experiencing happiness.
From an older generation, but I recall being pretty direct with black women I liked romantically. Yes, I tried to be friends first, but I didn't wait months or years to make my interest clear.

I feel like I’m in a twilight zone. Back in 2021, I was living in a neighborhood that I moved out of in the fall of that year. Yet prior to that, there was a man who was white and very very tall that stopped me on the street to tell me I looked lovely or beautiful. I never really got a good look at his face I guess.
I forgot all about it and moved into the current neighborhood I’m living in now.
I happened to go to a grocery store in the old neighborhood this past Saturday night. I wasn’t going to go as it was a little late and as I walked into the supermarket, I got to an aisle and I saw this really tall guy, he just stood out to me for some reason. I glanced at him briefly and he looked my way so I decided to go into another aisle to pick up the things I needed. He actually came into the aisle and waved at me because I had my AirPods in. I took them out and he said to me “I just wanted to say you look lovely and I’m sure you hair if often.” I kind of didn’t know what to say but I said thank you and then he went about his way. I actually stared at his face and he had some beautiful green eyes and a super long beard.
Then it came back to me that he’s the same guy who approached me a few years ago. It was eerie to me. Who would’ve thought that he would be in the same place I was in at the same time?
I really don’t know why he keeps stopping to tell me this, but I just figure he’s giving me a compliment and I leave it at that. I guess I’m trying not to read into it, although some of my friends say that it’s a common way that white men flirt (he didn’t ask me for my number) 😂

This is so true. This is my experience too. Black men are so direct and that's what we are used to. so when a white man likes you. its hard to recognise their approach. I have friend-zoned so many of them and years later the penny dropped for me. Someone, please explain this to white men.

🙋 greetings, as what maybe perceived as a white male. Half white half native. Been dating black women since 1969. The stories I could tell you. The good, the bad and the ugly of my experiences. My last and final woman of 18yrs of marriage. We were only friends for 24yrs. Because she's not only 10yrs younger but also we really didn't have the opportunity to connect because of me frequently in other relationships. Have had MANY white males ask me to teach them about approaching a black female. The majority fell out with, "I'm afraid of what my family and friends would think" cop out. THAT'S their main issue
You say half native. I'm curious what tribe you identify with if that's what you're referring to. And yes, the harsh reality is that a) many people simply aren't attracted to people outside of their race or b) those who are are not afraid of the social ramifications that can occur when dating someone outside of their race. I can sit here all day and encourage people to think beyond race but I can't alter reality lol. I do hope though that as the world continues to change and grow more people look at people as simply people and that we all begin to look towards heart and character over simply race. Absolutely! I know many black women are on the fence about friendships with white women but as we are so diverse, so are they, and so are ALL women. And the reality is that if you enter into a relationship with a white man, you will likely encounter (white) women in his family who hold meaning to him and therefore you want to be able to make those connections. I was in a supermarket having trouble w the self checkout system. This whyt guy was very attractive next to me and offered to assist me in scanning my items….it never crossed my mind that it was flirting 🤦🏾♀️ . it didn’t hit me until once I got back to my car and we were both long gone 😒

I think what you’re saying as true. And from my experience as a white woman who has dated black men, I think white men in general are more subtle in approaching women overall than black men (generally speaking from my experience)
I am not someone who wants to be on dating sites and I’ve been working on smiling in general public when I see attractive white men.
At the gym, there’s one guy who is from a different country and he comes over to say ‘hi’ and ask about my business venture I’m working on.
I’ve also been doing a speed dating service and twice this year was picked by white men for a 1 on 1 date. So I’m trying to figure out how to get around them more so I can really get in the dating scene.
That’s amazing you’re being so active instead of passive. I’m definitely biased towards dating apps because that’s where I met my partner but I totally understand the reluctance and for someone like you who isn’t just sitting around and hoping someone will magically appear in their living room lol a dating app is likely unnecessary!
