I kinda like the line where he says “I was finally going to be happy” after his wedding gets ruined. Demands to be explored a bit deeper. Also, kind of makes sense how, in line with the games, it implies he’s an orphan.
Eh doesn't really go well with the games- Movie Bowser clearly has a sad backstory, as he wasn't happy for his whole life apparently. Game Bowser may be an orphan, but he's definitely happy even without Peach or World Domination- he wants those because he's greedy, not because he's unhappy. He was spoiled rotten by Kamek and his minions since the day he was born, and they're extremely loyal and clearly love their king, so it doesn't really matter that he's an orphan when his whole army is basically his adoptive family. Movie Bowser clearly doesn't have that bond, since he literally put some of his minions in the cages to be burnt alive alongside the penguins and the Kongs.
There are a couple things I would like to bring up and that is that we actually DO know Bowser’s backstory in the games via the Yoshi games where he’s revealed to have been a rotten spoiled monster even when he was a baby and was raised by Kamek as a sorta father figure. Also, I wouldn’t call Bowser’s motivation in wooing Peach “adorable” as it honestly comes across more as a creepy stalker with an extremely lustful obsession and has no problem hurting or even killing his crush if she dares to not comply with everything he does. He’s the very definition of a toxic/abusive “lover” especially when his “love” for Peach is like I said a lustful obsession who wants to win over Peach showing that he views her more as an object to win rather than an actual person. Case in point, Bowser is a simp, but he’s a very toxic and dangerous simp.
I honestly hope they make Kamek the true villain to allow Kevin Michael Richardson to REALLY shine as a villain again. Bigger win if it's Yoshi's Island.
"serious fun", played seriously but with a comedic intent is a good way to describe his performance and why he was so good he had to be taken seriously, he was presented and treated as a very real threat by everyone at all times but he was funny because the situations they put him juxtaposed that with silliness
Call me crazy but Jack Black feels more authentic as Bowser than the original voice actor when voice acting in the cutscenes in Super Mario Sunshine ☀️
Not at all a crazy take. I don't know what guys like Arlo were talking about saying that this "is a good 'movie Bowser,' but not a good 'game Bowser.'" This is *better* than "game Bowser"!
@@PianistTanooki Uh no. Game Bowser is a far more developed, fleshed out and even funnier character with an even better personality than this Bowser lol. Movie Bowser is still great but Game Bowser is overall superior.

Jack Black is rocking with the role as Bowser that matches his intimidation and silliness, at least in the games like Super Mario RPG. Not only he's the King of the Koopa, he's also the Dragon Warrior... literally.
Honestly the movie made me say: "We need more games where bowser is the protagonist." Mario and Luigi: Bowser's inside story as odd as the game is.... it is still great game where we see bowser's antics on full display and playing as bowser made me feel real badass for some reason.
I loved Bowser in the movie. For some time, I’d seen the more silly side of Bowser. I’d forgotten just how menacing he could be. That red glare in his eyes, and the rage that burns everything to ashes, he was a real intimidating villian in this. You really thought he’d rip Luigi’s whole mustache off. I didn’t know just how well Black would be as Bowser. We don’t really hear many verbal lines from the Koopa King. But, he really got down that deep, gruff, gravely voice I imagined Bowser to have.
I kind of wished he was more similar to his games counterpart who was less cruel to his troops and his love for Peach was genuine(After She refused to marry him at the altar he tried to incenerate her NOT A GAME BOWSER THING.) But still; It was really good. Jack Black and Koopa King earned that 8/10.
@@jayfilms99 well at the end of Bowser Inside History he allow a group of traitors to stay in the army despite their previous betrayal towards him, showing that he can forgive; he also hate when his minions get brainwashed or something and i'm sure he don't burn them to the bone.
@@jayfilms99Not only are all Bowser's minions genuinely loyal to him out of respect and not out of fear, he gets furious when Fawful and Count Bleck put them in danger, in Legend of Seven Stars 2 of his minions left his army without his permission or knowledge, and when he finds out, instead of punishing them like any other dictator would, he tells them it's fine and even wishes them a good life. In the games he is always much less evil when he is either with his minions or his son- don't get me wrong, he doesn't mind hurting or insulting his minions.. a lot. He calls them worthless after his final fight with Mario in Mario 64, calls them idiots on many occasions, and in inside story, a few Bob-Ombs annoyed him and he breathe fire at them, only to then panic as they explode in his face lol. (Note, Bob-Ombs don't die when they explode.) But that is because he is short tempered, not because he doesn't care for his troops.

I would’ve given him like a 7 or 8 out of 10 in a 6 out of 10 movie.
I felt sorry for Bowser while watching the entire movie. Surely he has got some backstory about his life as a child and how his whole life was filled with sadness.
