As an American who has seen countless rebuilds in every sport where teams let go of aging players on high wages for promising, yet unproven, young prospects, it still baffles me that football people are just now realizing what Chelsea's strategy was.
I’ve been saying this all along it’s both gratifying and infuriating that people are now realising it! It’s always been clear with Boehly coming from a baseball ownership background that he wanted to sign every young star possible to long contracts in the beginning in order to save keep having to buy multiple players each transfer window after. Either they’re buying young talent to add to the team or simply buying young talent to sell in future for profit. Plus the lower wages leaning towards incentive-based increases is another thing Boehly has brought over from the US style too which also can’t be forgotten about.
I couldn’t agree more! I haven’t got an interest in much US sports, and I just knew that Boehly was doing good work with the dodgers. But the second they came in, it was SO obvious that this was their plan!! I’ve been almost pulling my hair out at some of the things the media and my friends were saying about Chelsea. This has always been their vision!! And the whole bomb squad stuff over the past summer was so flipping stupid- these players aren’t good!! Just look at Sterling now! Credit to Boehly and Blueco- this is how you rebuild a club 🙌🏼

Liverpool, Arsenal and even Man City have the experience of closing in and taking the pressure. Young Chelsea side still haven,t faced this pressure. Hopefully they,ll play CAREFREE and not even think about it.Maresca is trying to take the pressure off.One game at a time.
The manager referred to the late goals against the Spurs and Bees. And he’s right, you can’t do that. New coach new system and players. A top 4 finish will be great. Anything beyond that is gravy
To be fair, other than City and Liverpool, Chelsea do have a pedigree of winning it in recent years with Conte and Mourinho. For all of Arsenal's good work over the last 5 five seasons, its still been 20 years since they've last won it. Sure this is a new Chelsea hierarchy without that foundation, however, Maresca's Championship-winning season and tutelage under Pep in City's best ever season should not be sneered at. That experience is invaluable to a budding tactician in Pep's ilk. He knows how long the gruelling struggle and slug the campaign is hence his commitment to two squads, which is another feather in our cap, our squad depth. Maresca's job now is keeping everyone focused and hungry. We just need to show that nuance and savvy to consistently compete with established top 4 contenders and beat the rest.
Maresca is just being honest. Here I’ll break it down for you like this. Chelsea are sitting 2nd on 34 pts, 37 GF, and 19 GA. Now go look at Spurs, they have 36 GF and 19 GA, literally almost identical, but sit in 10th place with 23 points. Maresca knows this is how far the margins are and where this Chelsea side could be if a few results didn’t go their way
Reminds me of that 13/14 Mourinho team where he refused to entertain title talks, and kept saying it was a two horse race with Chelsea being a little horse. I agree, with Fofana out we don’t have another really good option in defense. The Monaca twins have a tendency to just stop playing well and Tosin is not just up to WC level imo, tho i do believe hes a great player. Sanchez is imo a bit of a self-handicap that we have; his decision-making and passing is just so incredibly suspect. On his day, such a good shot stopper but his lapse in concentration is just too frequent for a top level GK
I get Maresca's point and that is that their title aspirations mainly rely on other teams i.e Liverpool , with how things are going there are 2 likely scenarios for Chelsea either they lose the league as 2nd place by a 10 + point gap or they win it by edging out Liverpool by a point or two , in this case yeah i would also be focusing on getting the 3 points cause outside Chelsea and Liverpool no other team looks even remotely close to " Premier League Winner" material
After being called "billion pound bottlejobs" and rivals telling me that our players arent good, "poch wasnt the problem and that sacking him wont do anything" This is our revenge. you all doubted this squad and our players. Everyone said our squad wasnt ready for the title and that our players are trash so we gonna run with the we are not in a title sentiment. This is the most united and most chill this club has been in years. UTC
I hate when they say they spend billions, come on guys they also sold tons of players, and its not like other teams don't spend billion the difference is chelsea drew out their plan and executed it swiftly;enough of this billions that billions sh****t😡
New keeper and sorting out our starting centre back partnership and we are good to go. Also, everyone is very forgetful. We were very good at the end of last season.
They've spent 10 seasons worth of Manchester City since Boehly took over, so the only surprise is that it took them two, almost three seasons to show something for it.
I feel like this video threw some unnecessary shade at Poch. He did a lot to get the squad to where it is now and to say players that weren’t performing under him have found form under Maresca is a bit disingenuous (especially in the case of Caicedo, Cucurella and Jackson who are all carrying their form from the end of last season into this one). Anyone who watched Chelsea the second half of last season could see this was coming. Maresca has elevated the team tho, to his credit, but that should not be a slate on Poch.
We’re just a chill team that enjoys playing a bit of footie during the weekend. Grateful for 3 points every now and again in order to avoid relegation 🙏
Of course we are in the title race, coming a bit early but it is what it is. All the hatred for us signing young talent on long contracts is hilarious, not looking so bad now.
How have I done that? I report on what's happening, so as realities change, the reporting follows it. Not sure why this is so hard for people to understand. Chelsea were burning through managers and signing players in 2022 that are already gone (only two survivors from that first window), and even their fans were constantly calling for Boehly and Clearlake to leave in that first season. They've made positive changes since 2023 that have lead to them being in a great position, and so that's what I'm reporting on. A lot has changed since the summer of 2023 when I last made a video on them.
Akhi just 3 months ago you said we’re a team that could challenge for cups at best, why would we be anything more than that today. Leave us to struggle for a top 4 place in peace
Respectfully, I think you have it all wrong regarding the "clarity" and "cohesion" of the squad planning. The plan was always a full clearout and a full rebuild from the squad they inherited. Following the initial summer 22 window of Boehly as interim sporting director, the signings have always followed a clear vision of exciting, dynamic young players to grow together as a squad. We were never meant to compete in 22/23 and understood 23/24 would be a building year, so we treated it as such. They knew guys like Ziyech, Mount, Havertz, Sterling etc. weren't part of the team's future and they treated them as such to focus on bringing in the new singings they actually wanted. The whole "40 man squad" thing was never an actual issue as we knew who the core of the team was and had planned departures. They speedran the rebuild process, which had some ugly side effects, but was the right decision. Wouldn't be surprised to see Man United try the same thing soon. What's really made the difference for Chelsea this year is: 1) Maresca is a much better manager tactically than poch 2) We aren't plagued by an injury crisis anymore 3) The squad of young players has now had an extra year to grow together and build a true team. You bring up a good point about finding a team identity. It was never an issue of poor squad building or mismanagement from BlueCo. The talent was always there, it just needed time and the right manager.
Is it not crazy how Enzo philosophy as spread to chelsea fans? I am not gonna lie I was agaisnt him but he definitely proud many fans wrong. Now we are all following his mentality.
The signings largely weren’t scattergun. It’s the Brighton money ball strategy on steroids (especially when it comes to signing South American talent). These guys are playing chess while the rest are playing chequers . Winstanley and Stewart have actually done a madness
I assume people are commenting after having only watched the intro. :) I explain this further, as 2022 was scattergun, with only 2 signings sticking around (and I also show how they got better with their signings in the following windows).

The manager referred to the late goals against the Spurs and Bees. And he’s right, you can’t do that. New coach new system and players. A top 4 finish will be great. Anything beyond that is gravy
The surprising fact is that we are being this good without Reece James. Feels like he needs to fight for his place now also
We are not in the title race, it's that simple...no one rated us at the beginning of the season, so everyone should maintain their initial narrative
Maresca knows this is how far the margins are and where this Chelsea side could be if a few results didn’t go their way
One of the craziest things is Jackson actually finishing chances
As a Chelsea fan, we are not in the title race we just want to get our 3 points to avoid relegation.
Maresca is the embodiment of life gives you lemon, you make lemonade
We're not ready.
I also believe worse case scenario. We finish top 4.
UTC
How Maresca booting Sterling is coming across as a power move is beyond me. He's awful it was literally the only logical decision
they are still young and need to grow, please dont make the young squad overwhelmed by the preasure
4:47 Fabrizio : sad here we -used-to go *noises 😢
I hate when they say they spend billions, come on guys they also sold tons of players, and its not like other teams don't spend billion the difference is chelsea drew out their plan and executed it swiftly;enough of this billions that billions sh****t😡
New keeper and sorting out our starting centre back partnership and we are good to go. Also, everyone is very forgetful. We were very good at the end of last season.
They've spent 10 seasons worth of Manchester City since Boehly took over, so the only surprise is that it took them two, almost three seasons to show something for it.
Please do a video on Forest bro, IM BEGGING YOUUUU
I feel like this video threw some unnecessary shade at Poch. He did a lot to get the squad to where it is now and to say players that weren’t performing under him have found form under Maresca is a bit disingenuous (especially in the case of Caicedo, Cucurella and Jackson who are all carrying their form from the end of last season into this one). Anyone who watched Chelsea the second half of last season could see this was coming. Maresca has elevated the team tho, to his credit, but that should not be a slate on Poch.
I’m just so glad my club is back 🥹
We’re just a chill team that enjoys playing a bit of footie during the weekend. Grateful for 3 points every now and again in order to avoid relegation 🙏
Of course we are in the title race, coming a bit early but it is what it is.
All the hatred for us signing young talent on long contracts is hilarious, not looking so bad now.
As a Chelsea fan we just chill guys try take small steps until we are ready
When Bohley built Chelsea Class '23 likes United Class '92. This Squad is preparing for a next decade
this guy swings from one extreme to another
How have I done that?
What's really made the difference for Chelsea this year is:
1) Maresca is a much better manager tactically than poch
2) We aren't plagued by an injury crisis anymore
3) The squad of young players has now had an extra year to grow together and build a true team.
Suggestion:- Can you please zoom out your camera a little bit , its odd to see your face so close up....
Happy holidays everyone 🫶🏾
I started watching your channel after the Enzo saga
Play Guiu in PL,I like his spirit and Determination
The ficklest of them all. News is always old, because it’s never about action, but telling stories as outsiders. Outsiders will never understand.
As a Chelsea fan we know our goal this season is just to avoid relegation
Did that guy really say they are almost safe at the 40pt mark 😂😂😂 Liverpool fan but respect Chelsea this season young bucks playing hard
Road to 40 points, just great full to he in the league.
We are not Arsenal. We stay grounded, not deluded. If we gloat about things we have not achieved, it'll only make us look stupid if it doesn't happen.
We need 1 o 2 folks in defence. We also need for jackson to score more or to get someone better than Jackson.
