His execution was made more palatable for US movie audiences. The actual execution was done with the traditional method of being hung, drawn and quartered. He was dragged by horse naked through the streets to the site of the execution. Then he was hung, but not until death (as they showed). He was then castrated, disemboweled, his bowels burned, then beheaded and his body cut into four parts. 51:40 You are so right that the scene is like now when "authorities" be it the news, government, or education tell the people to hate someone and they do it without even knowing why. I am glad to see that perspective taken and not the opposite perspective of "how could people not have seen this happening at that time" without understanding how the same tactics are still being used now. Granted things in that area have amped up over the last few years, but it makes me helpful that people, eapecially young people can recognize and relate to it as it happens even to them now. History might not repeat itself because of that.
My family came from some where over there I think the big clan above us was Farquarson, several great gramps and Gran I think got of a ship in Maryland, then Tennessee, and we ended up in Texas, on my dad's side.
You mentioned how graphic the battle scene was. I saw this for the first time in the county's biggest theatre screen. I felt like I needed to dodge and duck. It was great.
Of all the inaccuracies of this movie, the biggest one might be a little girl just plucking the flower off a thistle. Those things are tough, spicy and difficult to cut. It might be why they are the symbol of Scotland.
I was working at the movie theatre when this came out. We had so many people faint and/or have medical emergencies b/c the movie is so emotionally intense and graphic.
Honestly Ms. Trixy Blue, this was one Blue outfit that you wore on this installment of Ms. Trixy Blue reacts. I'm from Dollar Scotland, one of the huge tragedies was during time when King James VI of England began the Highland Clearances that forced out the Highland Scots and the Western Islander Scots to make way for the introduction of sheep pastoralism to become the major force for rich English or Scot Protestants landowners and many of the Scots force off the land were Catholic. Once the Clearance period began those forced off the land lost complete ownership rights and this period of the Great Land Clearance lasted for 200-250 year and was a major factor in making Scots leave for lands in North America and other destinations later in places like Australia and New Zealand.
Without hesitation, I can say that this is one of the best movies ever made (if you can overlook the historical inaccuracies). The theme, the subject matter, the cinematography, the acting, the accents, the mustic--there is not a thing wrong with this movie. It is a constant roller coaster of emotion, and I always find myself wanting to go for the ride again. I basically know this movie by heart. Great reaction. And proper freedom is underrated these days--people have forgotten why so many peoples in the world fought so hard to achieve it.
Yet somehow she talked over half the dialogue, and therefore missed a good chunk of the plot. By the second half of this film she's yelling at the screen "Why?!? Why are they doing this? Who are those guys?". And I started yelling at MY screen "STFU ya stupid bint, and ya might figure it out!". Then I just gave up and found soething else to watch.
I am so sick of hearing about the inaccuracies. Why does everyone have to bring up the fact that Braveheart isnt 100% accurate. This is the only movie that takes this kind of s**t. And do you people really think that any movie about WW2 is 100% accurate?? That's 80 years old. The events of Braveheart took place 600 years ago
Didn't know you studied in Aberdeen, so glad you had such a happy time for so long in our country. I'll try to think of other Scottish set films you should watch Highlander and Rob Roy similar to this but it would be interesting to watch Trainspotting and Trainspotting 2 if you haven't seen, for a more contemporary look at Scotland. What are you studying now? Same as you were when here?
It's such a powerful, yet sad movie. The only thing that can lift your spirits while watching Braveheart... is a tiny sprawled out kitty, passed out on an R2D2 bean bag chair.
In the movie, it seemed most of the English soldiers were conscripts, meaning drafted men. Not well trained and recently taken from farms or the like. Not sure if that's historical to the battle but for the movie, that's probably the case. The Scots were passionate and inspired
Great movie. You should also react to his underrated great action movie Ransom. Also other great historical movies are Rob Roy 1995 and The Count of Monte Cristo 2002. It is funny you are not from the UK from the first time I saw your reaction I thought you are from the UK from your accent :)
I had to unlearn my own history after watching this as a kid and taking it as the truth. Everyone will tell you it's not accurate, but it does do a good job of reminding us why we have a chip on our shoulder 😀 Aww, can't believe you were studying in Aberdeen. Love ya even more now blue!
@WatchEuropaTheLastBattle WW2 was essentially televised with source documents and treaties from all sides widely available. Apples and orangutans. Though there are surely some public misconceptions and ignorances.

It is no wonder this movie would inspire you and touch something deep inside, your grandparents could probably relate to it even more strongly as people who lived through the tyranny and deprivation of Russian communism that oppressed Bulgaria for decades following the literal slavery you knew for centuries under the Ottoman Turks.
"... they won their freedom!" They won free of their chains, by fighting to the death, and claiming the freedom of Heaven. They are free of all the vicissitudes and chains of life and of their oppressors! The historical accuracy of the movie is, unfortunately, not great. It does, however, capture the spirit of the times. You could say it embodies the force of the spirit of the Olde Scots. Another *excellent* movie of the same type - but with somewhat more historical accuracy - is _"Rob Roy"_ ... it too will have you both crying and cheering! Just be aware that there's a scene about a third of the way (maybe a little more) through it that is _particularly_ brutal - not bloody and gory, but *definitely* brutal! Be aware that you may need to 'Pause' the movie at that point and 'collect yourself'. Really, an excellent reaction-review; glad you enjoyed this so much, too bad that the story didn't allow for the ending you wanted! As for his men not 'trying something' ... although it wasn't obvious, there were a ring of soldiers around both the platform and the wall surrounding the courtyard. And additionally, in a setting/situation like that, *everybody* coming in would've been *very* thoroughly searched, so they were without any weapons! They would have died (probably quickly, before they could even get onto the platform) if they had made any attempt to free him. So, all they could do was be witnesses to his torture and death, and use their eye-witness testimony to rally people to his Cause! I can't remember if you've seen Mel Gibson's _"The Patriot"_ but if you haven't, you should! I suspect that it'll also have you both crying and cheering!

28:00 i saw a making of, dont worry, those are mechanical horses in the impact shot.
Trixy binge-watching the greatest movies of all time lately and I am all on board.
"Bruce! Bruce is their only hope!" Oh, sweetie . . . sweetie. . . .
Happy Christmas 🎄🏴🎄 everyone 🎉
You mentioned how graphic the battle scene was. I saw this for the first time in the county's biggest theatre screen. I felt like I needed to dodge and duck. It was great.
Of all the inaccuracies of this movie, the biggest one might be a little girl just plucking the flower off a thistle. Those things are tough, spicy and difficult to cut. It might be why they are the symbol of Scotland.
Man, that cat looks hilarious sleeping on that bag.
In a medieval battle those horses would be your enemies. The horsemen are in a superior position in front of the warriors who are on the ground
Am i the only one who spent most of the video watching the cat in the background moving around while sleeping on R2-D2.
What do you guys think is better braveheart or the patriot?
That cat you got is something else!😆Just stretched out on that R2D2 ball. So funny!
51:25 - 51:57 perfectly describes our world today. Wish it weren't true, but it is. Loved your reaction to this great film.
It's such a powerful, yet sad movie. The only thing that can lift your spirits while watching Braveheart... is a tiny sprawled out kitty, passed out on an R2D2 bean bag chair.
I’d recommend outlaw king , it is a follow up of this of sorts , but has more historical accuracy 😊
The cat crashed out on the R2D2 head in the corner earns this video Epic Status.
There is no more debate needed.
In the movie, it seemed most of the English soldiers were conscripts, meaning drafted men. Not well trained and recently taken from farms or the like. Not sure if that's historical to the battle but for the movie, that's probably the case. The Scots were passionate and inspired
I really appreciate this from you! Fantastic reaction!
On it! I am from Aberdeen. Did you drink in Drummonds? I play in a band we play in Drummonds! Love the channel.
I cried the first time, I can't lie...FREEDOM! 💙🗡
I thought Culloden was why you had the chip on your shoulder?
Yeah you better only trust the history as written and vetted by your oppressors! ...🤔😉
@WatchEuropaTheLastBattle WW2 was essentially televised with source documents and treaties from all sides widely available.
Apples and orangutans.
Though there are surely some public misconceptions and ignorances.
@@readsomebooks666 Culloden wasn't Scotland vs England. The Jacobite period was a good example of why the working class should have a chip on their shoulder against the upper classes!
25:39 "But they'll never take...¡OUR FREEDOM!"
love your reactions blue, true feelings, keep up the good work, it makes my night watching them
Fantastic reaction. You are so genuine.
My heart turns blue for u💙
The cat in the back is the real star in this video
Entertaining and emotional review, glad you liked Scotland, welcome back anytime.
12:11 "Chivalry is dead...and women killed it." -Dave Chappelle
"... they won their freedom!" They won free of their chains, by fighting to the death, and claiming the freedom of Heaven.
