    Nice updates, the only thing i've done so far is installing a full termignoni line and a gps holder. Also switched the topbox to the shad 58x. It's so nice to have an expandable box that you can fit 2 helmets in, but also are able to reduce when you don't have the need for so much space. And it's also waterproof as i've tested it many times in the rain :)

    Thanks for the tour... nice to see what others have done with their rides...
    2015 S here.... 18,000Km. Purchased new in May 2015. Three of four optional packages... passed up on the Sport package.
    Have added a few items... a carbon fiber low profile wind screen. Actually it's too small to have any wind deflecting effect... eye candy mainly. Installed a Navihalter GPS mount. Puchased a second set of seats and installed a custom cover. Have an AirHawk air seat pad... worth every penny!!! Purchased a Bursig lift/stand for DIY maintenance. Also swapped out the original air filter with a K&N...what a job that was. Have to pull half the bike apart to get at the air box... Ducati what were you thinking???
    Ride safe....

    Thanks for the vid, I have both a 1260s Multi and an 899 Pani, I’ve also got the Kreiga dry bags but actually use the Pani mounts on the Multi. Two bolted under the tail, and two to the reg plate mounts (switched to metal bolts) this is a much neater solution and you never have to take them on and off. I’ve done some of the same changes as you, went for the Puig screen with the additional deflector, bark busters on the handlebars and RG frame protectors rather than the SW Motech bars for the reason you mentioned. I’d like to have crash bars but to be honest I have never found any I really liked the look of. I’m two years into mine and simply love it. Hopefully next year there will be a V4 version to move to. 😀

    I've got a very similar set up on the rear of my 1200S. I have the Givi V46NNT top box mounted on an SW Motech Alu Rack (doesn't fit the 1260 much to the dismay of my mate with one!) I used the mounting straps from my Street Triple 765 for the Kriega US-20 under the pillion seat which work great. I went for the EvoTech radiator, oil cooler and header guard too. I don't use a dedicated satnav, so I've been using the SP Connect Top Clamp ram ball mount for my phone case which is ideal. That Denali Soundbomb sounds the Mutt's Nuts! What a difference. Got the full Termi titanium exhaust and upmap too, but otherwise, the only other performance mod I did, was the 'AwTheGearsAndDaftIdeas' Go Faster Sticker on the front of the windscreen!! 😂👍

    Rode my 2012 1200S from London to Andorra last August taking in Versailles, Limoges and Toulouse. Then played in the Pyrenees for a week before riding back to London via Donostia-San Sebastian, Bordeaux and Le Mans.
    Got a ferry crossing booked for August this year to land in Santander. The plan is to go west and explore the Picos and will then head back east to take in the Pyrenees.
    I have the original factory panniers (which are a bit crap) and a small Givi ST602B 4 litre tank bag which swallows up sunglasses, sun screen, bank cards, docs and the bike manual. The cards each have a clothes peg on them which makes them easier to pick up with gloved hands.
    I’ve also got a TomTom Rider 55O high mounted on a Navihalter.
    There is a lot of debate about the screen on the Multistrada setting them high or low. I’m 6’5” so until I buy a Gold Wing it does not make much difference. I just wear earplugs over 70mph and set the screen low which has the air hitting my chest rather than whistling around my helmet.
    Thanks again for the vid!

    Good review, I got a '13 MS GT. I added Cox Racing Radiator guards as the RG or OEM Duc guards remind me too much of a cheese grater, I also added the SW-Motech header guard and the Alt Rider WAPU cover. The GIVI panniers are water tight, I rode through torrential downpours in South Dakota and my stuff stayed dry. Keep the rubber clean and ensure they are closed properly and you should be good, the liners are nice to carry your stuff into the hotel/motel. I agree with the tire choice, the stock Pirelli stick like glue but are gone in under 10000 km for the rear. My Michelin PR4GT last about 13-14000 km, keep in mind I live in the Canadian Prairies - not too many curves. I think a 2021 1260 Enduro should be a nice replacement next year, as long as Ducati changes the colors.

    I've heard about those top boxes leaking but I've had two now (on a 1200 DVT and now on 1260) and put them to some fairly serious testing in both Spain and the Lake District and never (yet, at least) had a leak. You do need to be careful and make sure that none of your junk is over lapping the seal though (that's the inner lip on the lower part of the box).

    Great to see what you've done here. I've got a '19 1260S which I immediately took to Sicily from London, and back, 5000 miles all in. I made a few key changes for that trip and have improved a few things since too. Here's my set up:
    - Ducati pannier / top box - my experience totally weather proof, and holy sh*t did I ride through some weather (ice, snow, lots of rain, windy so much the bike was at 40 degrees on a highway in Sicily - a lorry drove behind us to shield us from other traffic as we were doing about 30!). I also bought the 3 x inner bags from Ducati though, mainly as the panniers get mucky and are pretty heavy. They are expensive though, and I haven't tested whether those are water-proof.
    - Awesome Sat-nav bracket from bikepenr.nl - sits on the handlebar in the centre, does not get in way of your view, really great looking set up
    - Puig Touring screen + Iconic Parts Screen Spacers - essential for long trips, looks like you've gone a similar route but I recommend the new screen as it's wider and taller too and really keeps the wind (and rain) off
    - NO protection fitted ... BUT I did drop my bike, when my foot slipped on gravel and the bike toppled going 1mph and landed on it's left pannier and bar. The bike was FINE. Only 2 things broke: the plastic handguard snapped cleanly and was fixed for the trip with tape; and the plastic hook for the left pannier inside the rear subframe. Cheap-is to repair, but with panniers on the engine guard would have not done anything. Bar ends are a GOOD IDEA though.
    - I use a Kriega 30 too and have a similar set up, but connected everything further back so you can just use the top box frame. Quite neat and zero effort.
    Other things I'd recommend for touring having done v long trips - the Ducati hands-free tank filler will be my next purchase as it would just make life easier; changing the standard seat to the higher setting is a little more comfy, but I also plan to get a new one.

    • @MouldyPIX
      @MouldyPIX  4 роки тому

      Richard Cooper that’s really great feedback, yes I agree with the need to protect the handle/indicator guards, that’s probably my next add on.

    Trevor, I appreciate your post. I have been trying to decide on crash protection for some time.
    I have also found the panniers to be waterproof.
    It looked like you have some level of case guard on the water pump side of the bike and a tail-tidy that you didn’t go over. Please let us know your choices.
    I have a 2018 1260S My additions:
    Evotech Italy clutch slider guard (my boots were scuffing the case)
    DucaBike handguard sliders
    Navihalter gps bracket(bought through my dealer, they gave me a Garmin Zumo 365)
    DucaBike Footpegs
    SWMotech tankbag(the smallest with a powered tank ring)
    SWMotech 30mm bar risers
    I have the Ducati aux lights. Do you think they will fit with the SWMotech crash bars?

    • @MouldyPIX
      @MouldyPIX  4 роки тому

      Throttle Therapy hi TT, thanks for your comment, yes I have the same problem as you with the scuffing of the clutch plate, also I don’t have sufficient protection for the water pump! So I think the next couple of add-ons will be to protect both sides, probably with the R&G Racing kits to keep the aesthetics consistent. No bar risers needed for me, I’m just over 6ft, so the position and reach is fine for me. Good question regarding the AUX lights!, to be honest I don’t know about the fit, I’m looking at the DENALI range of lights at the moment, so I’ll do some research and googling to see if I can find some else who has fitted the same crash bars plus or with existing AUX lights...I’ll let you know if I find anything. Keep in touch..👌👌👍

    Hi Trevor. A quick question please if you don’t mind. With the Palmer Products spacer kit and the accessory bar you’re using to fix your Garmin XT to, does it keep the sat nav nice and stable or do you get lots of vibrations? I’m looking to fit my new XT to my 1260s and really don’t know what will work best, though I like what you have done. Many thanks, Paul

    Hi thanks for the vid very informative. I was interested in your thoughts on the termi slip on exhaust you have. Was thinking of buying one. • @MouldyPIX
      @MouldyPIX  4 роки тому

      Steve B Hi Steve, thanks for your comments.. As you say the Termi - D193 - looks the dogs in my opinion!, but yes there is a better noise, but you mainly notice it on the over-run when downshifting and slowing down, lots of very audible pops and a few bangs if that’s your thing. The EVOTECH tail tidy was installed by my local motorcycle shop, TPS Motorcycles in Polegate, when I went to pick it up the mechanic just said “that was a bit of a bitch!” So read into that why you like!, I’m just glad that I didn’t do it myself.. 😂

      Aiman Aal hi Aiman, to be honest I haven’t had the chance to test or try the Corbin or Sargent, so I can’t really compare. I tried a comfort seat at a Ducati showroom and didn’t feel much different to the standard seat, but again I didn’t ride it! The Touratech is considerably better, in my opinion, to the stock/standard seat. It may appear to be hard or firm at first, but after a while you see why Touratech have designed it this way.

      Trevor Mould Thanks Trevor for your inputs. I got the comfort seat a couple of days ago. My work commute is around 100 miles per day so will see how that goes. If that does not work, I will either go the Touratech route or spend a little bit extra and get a Russel seat. These are known to be the most comfortable touring seats but at a relatively high price point here in California

    Hi Trevor. Thanks for the video. Can I ask you a few questions about the Evotech Tail Tidy? 1) The small light block for the registration plate sits quite high and proud in front of the brake light. Does it look ok from all angles and in your opinion does it not get in the way with the brake light? 2) Does the Evotech tail provide the same clearance as OEM tail in terms of pannier removal? 3) Lastly the reg plate sits quite deep and tucked away when you have the top box and panniers on. Have you ever had issues with police or anyone saying to is not visible enough? Can it be seen from above? If you can provide some more picture from different angles that would be awesome! Thanks.

    • @MouldyPIX
      @MouldyPIX  Рік тому

      Hi Joe…good questions! First the easy bits!, no problem with the panniers or pannier removal and looks good from all angles and doesn’t interfere with the brake light. However there is one issue and that relates to the number plate and the rear mud-guard/hugger. I’ve had to replace the number plate with a slightly smaller (2-3 inches all round) plate, which is “officially” illegal. I found that the standard number plate size hit the top of the rear hugger on occasions when the rear suspension fully compressed. Although this doesn’t happen too often, but when it does it damages the rear part of the hugger and eventually it will snap off. I went through two replacement rear huggers before I realised what was causing it! Hope that helps.

      Well I’m not sure which models you’ve tried but the brakes on my MultiStrada - Brembo M50 - are the best in class and I have absolutely no complaints. Ok, so you have a point regarding the rear brake, which is not overall responsive or useful, except at low speeds, but overall the braking and stopping power is awesome as is the overall feel which allows you to trail brake with confidence.

This makes the system getting some air and lose effectiveness. It happens every few 100 km and demands service. I'm impressed how it runs and corners. But i guess this kind of motorcycle is not my favorite. High chassis makes it unstable at high speeds. Also the seat was IMO not enough comfortable as for touring bike. If we duscuss Ducati, i take the Diavel 1260 s.

      @@MouldyPIX so it’s a original Ducati? Coz I’m just bought today Multistrada and only side panniers are fitted, my girlfriend looks for top box as back support. Thanks

      @ yes, in the UK, the top box and rack are factory/dealer supplied and fitted options. It also uses the same key for both the panniers and top box which matches the ignition key. Having said that GIVI manufacture the top boxes and tank bags for Ducati, so you could source them direct from GIVI or one of their resellers. Hope that helps.

    Hello - which quadlock mount is that please?

    • @MouldyPIX
      @MouldyPIX  3 роки тому +1

      I went for the Handlebar Mount, under the Moto section on the QuadLock website. Since I made this video I’ve also added the anti vibration mount too. Hope that helps.

      @@MouldyPIX Thanks Trevor. I have the same mount by the sounds of it. And the same Palmer screen plate. Mine has the 3/4” bar and I’m struggling to get the quad lock to mount with any of the 3 clamp inserts. Any advice?

    What is the gps holder bar, please?

    • @MouldyPIX
      @MouldyPIX  3 роки тому +1

      It’s from Palmer Products, you can purchase it with two choice of diameter for the bar. Hope that helps.

    Airline pilots use sheepskin to sit on and a mate of mine with BMW gs uses a sheepskin pad and swears by it.

      Dunno Anyone yeah I’ve heard that too, would be interesting to see if it also led to Betty Swollocks syndrome? 😂😉

      Trevor Mould sheepskin/wool is highly breathable so shouldn’t lead to sweaty nether regions, cotton underpants would be much worse 😂
