Hello, Paul. Thank you for introducing another juwel of piano masterpiece. I have become a fun of yours, of course Paul Barton as a pianist and also your personal character, I appreciate you :) Blessing to you and your family!
Thank you so much for your inspiring videos, Paul! They give me strenght to keep studying and reaching for improvement! Wish I could play like this someday...
A wonderful performance of a great arrangement of this piece. I discovered it through another wonderful performance on youtube by Khatia Buniatishvili. I then learnt it as I was so inspired. Very useful to see the score as it’s played as I was particularly interested in the fingering for the trills which I find the most difficult aspect of this arrangement. Thanks for another valuable contribution to the music world. It’s appreciated by many.
Paul is really playing this wonderfully. I've been trying to get the fingering right, I get thrown off by those tremolos however. The most enchanting version comes from Khatia Buniatishvili though. Take a listen to the live version as an encore. It will whizz you into wonderland. That woman is a witch.
thank you so much dear Paul for for your soulful piece. 🌻💐 I loved listening to you and I will always continue to listen to you. 🌻🎼🎶🎼🎼 Right now I'm going to my keyboard and have to learn a lot. I wish you a beautiful musical time. 🌞🌞🌞🌞 Kind regards from me.
TY Paul, beautiful as always. I hope Emilie and Mom are well? It's been a while since your last adventures with the monkeys and Emilie's excellent narration. She's probably grown a few inches since we've seen her! I always envision her now in her orange hat, the one she wore during the sitting for her portrait. 🥰
This is an arrangement from the 20th century played on a modern piano. If you were to listen to the original score played on harpsichord I believe it would sound very baroque to you.
I rly like your channel cause i like classic music in generell but dont know the pieces. And through youre channel i get to know a lot from what is out there! Thanks and keep it up!
As best as I can figure, the original piece was written by Handel in the first half of the 18th century and most likely for harpsichord as I’m unaware if Handel even knew of the piano’s existence. The original composition probably languished for about 200 years until Kempff wrote his transcription sometime prior to 1954 when it was published. Kempff utilizes the piano’s extended lower range for broader contrast which was unavailable to Handel during the Harpsichord’s reign.
I could hear some wrong notes at 2:04 and 2:10; it is natural A, not A flat. I've been studing this masterpiece since last year and it's not that easy to play, especially when it comes to the trills.
A magnificent minuet that would have deserved an interpretation well beyond a scholastic and mechanical level....It is not enough to play what is written on the score. You have to live it...
What a stunningly beautiful piece. I've not heard it before. Sublime, contemplative. As always Paul, your playing is masterful and sensitive to the music. I wonder what state of mind Handel was in when composing it.
You know the old gag where the pianist begins the Moonlight Sonata and subtly morphs it into Night and Day? I can easily imagine this piece morphing into the slow movement of the Rodrigo guitar concerto.
Hello. Thank you for helping us, aspiring classical music players, in having the idea how to play piece such as this lovely music. But can you please include Christian Hymns? Thanks a lot, God bless you.
I'm curious how Handel himself would react to this arrangement of his minuet? This arrangement sounds best on piano and the original sounds better on harpsichord.
Hello can somebody who know classical theory tell me what this means "arr Wilhelm Kempff" does it mean that the only original from Handel version is the melody and harmonic or does it just mean that Kempff did the transcription and no more?
I think it refers that Wilhelm kempff did an arrangement for modern piano. This piece was used to be interpreted on a clavichord, and articulations and dynamics changes, he also specified how the ornaments should be played. But I'm not completely sure.
Very nice playing. However, I noticed that in the next to last measure under the "rit." it looks like you played an A-D-F#-A instead of an A-C-F#-A in the right hand.
Truly shows how criminally underrated Handel is. Some of the most beautiful baroque melodies out there!
he's not underrated.
@@sibionic A lot of his pieces are kinda underrated, since many play only his popular pieces.
its trash tbh
@@earl3204 who are you! lol
I never underrated Handel
This is crazy gorgeous ! So preciously dramatic
Bellissima interpretaziine! Profonda, mestizia assoluta ...potrei piangere.

Прекрасно! Бальзам на душу!
Lovely playing and lovely piece.....Stately and elegant......Almost sounds like a film soundtrack!
Beautiful. A ray if light through the darkness. Thank you Paul

How contemporary this sounds, as every masterpiece does.
I was just thinking the same thing
Weird. Sounds like something written in 1700 to me lol

It's baroque but he fixed it rather nicely.
I wish you had elaborated more...

Handel is Fantastic
Breathtaking
So gorgeous. Loved it. Must learn this now
Seojin cho bring me here.
Lovely piece! Thank you for sharing 🤗
Truely amazing.
Amazing
Quite beautiful, thank you
So lovely. Thank you.
¡Bravo! 👏👏👏
Gracias Paul
Love this piece of music but the trills annoy me as they start on the wrong note each time. Baroque trills start on the upper note.
😂 ...right!
Beautiful
La beauté va de pair avec la simplicité.La vérité aussi .
MAGNIFIQUE
Wonderful piece and interpretation!

seriously nobody cares about the wrong notes
@@angeliki.586 you clearly do not understand it haha
@@Franzlassan I heard it too. I thought it was just me. I've been working on this for awhile and it is supposed to be a natural A.
That's very good !!
So very lovely.
Superb ‼️
My soul melting ❤️
Its soo beautiful even if you play it 2x speed.. it changes to waltz
Bravo!
A magnificent minuet that would have deserved an interpretation well beyond a scholastic and mechanical level....It is not enough to play what is written on the score. You have to live it...
Handel's slow works are in a league of their own.
Amazing, thank you
Дякую ...🌹🌹🌹🎹
Really beautiful music. Sounds like La Folia?! Thanks for posting! 🌹💕🍁🐞🪲🐜🐈🌸🛳🦋😻😝🌹🍀💐👍😀
To me it doesn't sound like La Folia, but La Folia sounds like Handel's Sarabande!
Thank you sir.

Beautiful
I’m confused as to why, at 3:59, I see a d being played in the right hand, but hear a c in the soundtrack.
Wait
interesting that some ornaments are written out.
This is music
👏👏👏
I'm curious how Handel himself would react to this arrangement of his minuet? This arrangement sounds best on piano and the original sounds better on harpsichord.
Greeting from Cambodia!
💜💜💜
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🎹🎵🎹🎵🎹🎵🎹🎵🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 wonderful
Hi I was just wondering if anyone knows if this arrangement is in the public domain?
Vielen Dank😂😂😂
Очень красиво
At the end, the hand is clearly hitting g minor, but the sound is g major??
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Teach me how to do those trills with the 4th and 5th finger 😭😵

I hitted 1000th likes in this vid.
Anyone know the HWV number? Handel has like 13 Minuets in G minor
kempff's arrangement*
Handel’s original is easier 😅
Why does this song sound like "Suite No. 1 in B-Flat Major"?
You need to add a stronger spiritual dimension to this sublime piece. It demands it.
Very nice playing. However, I noticed that in the next to last measure under the "rit." it looks like you played an A-D-F#-A instead of an A-C-F#-A in the right hand.
It is HÄNDEL not Handel because in German, Handel means trade
Check İdil Biret's version. She is amazing!
It makes me think of sadness
Hi Paul at minute 2:03 and 2:10 i think it is a mistake, isn't a natural A?
now we know he's human (:
@@leonardocoari678 I never liked that phrase. Does that mean the more mistakes you make the more human you are?
@@emfunke of course not, it means that everyone can make mistakes
Actually, I knew he was human before learning about the mistakes.
Händel è sempre Händel, cioè il massimo
Handel or Händel?

Maybe it's just the lack of good mikes on this recording but I thought this piano has a richer sound. Suggest re-recording
