When two titanic, timeless composers inspire each other, it becomes perfection ... I was lucky enough to see Balanchine's beautiful work at Tbilisi theater, and as I know Tchaikovsky wrote this masterpiece in Tbilisi. Magnificent recording by great Svetlanov. Thank you so much for this glorious recording
The slow movement(Pregeria-prayer) is sublimely beautiful and really tugs at one's heart as Mozart's music did to Tchaikovsky.

If you didn't know, that is the beggining of Mozart's Ave Verum Corpus KV 618.
Liszt used it in his "Christus" somewhere, maybe the "Oriental Kings" instrumental section
