Sad to announce but my uncle the legendary session rhythm guitarist. Wah Wah Watson passed away on October 24th 2018!!! We love you Unc and you was da Man!!!!! RIP!!!!
So sad that the guitarist passed away. In this playlist you can find the complete concert he gave with Herbie Hancock at the Munich Philharmonic Hall in 1989: goo.gl/AFa1rA I hope you enjoy his astounding legacy!
Man...Herbie is the Cooking est Kat ever!!! He is a complete Gentleman also by the way, at an incredible concert at the greek theatre in Berkley California circa 1981, Herbie took a picture with my Wonderful mom............. while he was nice enough to hold her purse for her as she hugged him! I was 19 years old then and although I no longer have the shot it is an everlasting and simply beautiful memory.
This groove is SOOO hard to mimick live. I took a little solice in knowing that even Herbies band had a tough go with it live. It is truly one of the greatest examples of 70s Jazz funk.
I mean, it’s already crazy-good for the first half… but then Herbie hits the keys, and somehow it gets - I mean, I don’t even know how to quantify it: it doesn’t get 10x or 100x groovier, it goes off on a UFO trip and plants the seeds of the Inca empire and gives Bigfoot a ride… and somehow that band hangs along for Mr. Hancock’s cosmic trip and even powers the rocket!! I mean, “Right on!” barely covers it: my third eye was opened and beheld a fourth, that’s what a ride this was!!
Daddy's on the phone with that pianosolo, and he talks 'bout seeing harmonic structures to make the magic happen. Augmented chords building awesome tension as I analyse
That's what you call jazzfunk/fusion. Everyone was playing their ass off. I could hardly keep up with them on that tempo. Then they just smoove it right out. I love it. I wonder what year this was in ?
they've started at higher tempo (around 131 bpm) and then slowed down a bit on Cinelu in. Beside that, amazing piece, i remember when i tried to figure out the rhythm of the individual lines in the studio version, quite deceptive with on and off beats (in the first the guitar seemed to me starting off beat but it wasn't)
The ad breaks make this unwatchable. You Tube is another example of how money tries to oppress us and mess around with our culture. The artists so disfigured ought to demand that music vids have no ad breaks during songs only between them! Is it that hard?

My respects to this fantastic musician. Playing riffs from him every week to remember myself what rhythm guitar is all about.
Everyone is overlooking the elephant in the room- Bill Evan's saxophone is Breathtaking- truly 5 star performance.
Bill Evans is top drawer, played with Miles Davis band when Miles made a come back after quite a long lay off.
My sentiments exactly 👍

Herbie hancock’s face during his solo….. that’s what being “in the zone” looks like. A thing of beauty really
Yeah and check out Wawa Watson and how he is moving to the music right there @7:23 Check out his hat. He's feeling it right there😅

Wow. That was very cool. They stomped down on the pocket and Herbie took us on a ride.
Wow. Incredible. Thanks for putting this up

Holy shit Herbie. Somehow you matched the intensity of say, Jimi Hendrix at Isle of White, but on acoustic piano. Truly stunning.
herbie has influenced my world and life for decades. miles should have listened to him
This is top tier.
HERBIE THE BAND NO SWET THE GROOVE THANK YOU TO ALL AND EVERYONE FOR THIS
I agree.the original recorded version was slower, tight and Paul Jackson/ the bassist made that groove sizzling
Nobody ever did or will BRING IT like these guys... Whooo-EEEE !
Absurdly outstanding!
Guitar Watson. Senza parole.

Drummer Ndugu Leon Chancler is a steam engine.
This is "Hang up Your Hangups" not "Air Dancing"
