I loved all the Superman reruns when I was a kid. I and a few friends were fans. I even had a Superman Colorforms set. I was born in 1955, so I never saw these commercials until now.

I was a huge Superman fan when I was a kid (about 5 years old) in the early 1950s... But I don't recall ever seeing the Superman cast in cereal commercials... and believe me, I spent hours and hours a day in front of the TV, so I would have had plenty of opportunities. Apparently I was sucking down too much of that sugar in the cereals. 🤣
You have to wonder if things went down in this reality the same way they did in the rest of the DC multiverse. 'Gee whiz Mr White, if only Superman had enjoyed a delicious breakfast of Kellogg's Sugar Smacks perhaps he wouldn't have been beaten to a mush by that big Doomsday lug.'
The two clowns that appeared on Sugar Smacks boxes in 1953 and '54 were famous for being members of "Clown Alley" in Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey's Circus: Lou Jacobs {0:49} and Paul Jung {1:43}.
There must be some fundamental dork tie-length law of the universe. For every dorky Perry White with his short ties, there must be a dorky trump with his extra-long ones. 😅🤣😂
The 50's sugar rush was the cause of (and still is) the majority of the western world's heath problems and the environmental and economic problems for the countries that grow it.
It wasn't just the sugar. That "breakfast is the most important meal of the day" mantra repeated by doctors was actually begun by Kellog's as pure marketing BS.
I sometimes daydream about an America where fast food isn't the cheapest choice. Where eating healthy home cooked meals are the norm and going out to eat is a rare treat. That's the one of the positive things I agree should come back from the ol' days.
for some reason? for any number of obvious reasons, to do so would be to miss a fundamental point. The little girl says something like this is Supermans favorite cereal, but she's just over-excited

Eating cereal out of the box dry (so 90's). Roommates with Jimmy Olsen. These commercials are many decades ahead of their time.
This would always play on the TV at the SC State Museum.

ZaSu Pitts appeared in one of my favorite movies, "Broadway Limited," in 1941.

I don't think I've ever eaten a bowl of cereal, while wearing a suit.
It's such an interesting time before scary clowns were invented.
bruh u still scared of a man with a painted face
It was such a interesting time before animal activit’s came into existence.
@@trevorthesorcerer what does that have anything to do with anything?
@@Over9000Wolf Animal activit’s destroy ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus and Scarey clowns destroy the art of clowning.
@@trevorthesorcerer bro this is about Superman and clowns. We're not talking about the circus.
No “Clark Bar” candy bars
2 months from today, "Look, up in the sky! It's a bird!
It's a plane! It's Superman: The Silver Age Omnibus, Vol. 1!

As soon as I saw that clown on the box, I remembered the episode THE CLOWN THAT CRIED, he looks like Rollo.
I Love This-
And don`t call me chief! I thought it was Zarzoo Pits.
Odd hearing Tony the tiger not being voiced by Thurl Ravenscroft!
Fun!
You interviewed her?!
Why is the clown always terrifying?
That was the style before the 60s.

A better question: Anyone agree with me that Jack Larson’s doing the clown’s voice?
I don't think it was him.
Yet clowns were not always considered scary.
It's funny, the kids were better actors than the older more experienced actors.
I thought Clark Kent was doing a great job reading those ridiculous lines with a straight face.
K-e-double L, O double good, Kellogg's best to you!
Wow....could Perry White wear his pants any higher? He must buy extra short ties.

@@randychappell1014 Exactly. Tired of bitching about January 6th or gun restrictions? Then start bitching about old TV commercials from 70 years ago!
@@nataliep.9047 Well, at least January 6th and mass shootings with military weapons are worth bitching about.
this type of cereal commercial works only for one reason - together with regular people Clark Kent is required to be a dork. The fundamental alter-ego
For some reason, "Superman" was not allowed to directly endsorse Kellogg's cereals. George Reeves, as "Clark Kent", *could.*

Interesting how Clark is hanging around kids, without adult supervision. Couldn't do that these days.
Too bad you misspelled "Commericals" in the beginning of this!
Perry white sounds sick.was this 1958?
1953. John Hamilton was still in good health at the time.
