Can i submist a native wordpress sitemap without this google plugin - mine wont fetch - do i have to have the plugin? i have connected GA4 through google tag manager etc so do i really need the plugin when all i want is to connect the sitemap?
Yes, you can use a native sitemap instead

So just to make sure I understand you correctly--you're saying that even if we use something like All in One SEO or Yoast, and even if we access our Sitemap via the browser/URL method you showed in the video and definitely see our most recently published posts and pages listed....you're saying we should STILL submit our sitemap URL via Site Kit? Or is this method only done if we 100% notice the Sitemap is NOT showing our newly published posts/pages from our website? Thanks in advance!

I've followed your instructions step by step and successfully submitted the sitemap on Google Search Console but when I look at it under submitted sitemaps, it says there are zero discovered URLs, what could that mean? Because when I open the submitted sitemap, it says that it has been successfully. Should I be worried?

In WordPress dashboard, go to Settings > Reading > and click on Discourage search engines from indexing this site

If you only one user in your WP, that is the admin user. So it would be easy to get the username of the admin user from the sitemap.
I think it is better not to generate users sitemap in this case.

Hi Tony, When i go to the robots.txt on mine it does not have the sitemap in there. google have indexed my site quite often but still not showing on there :(
This can take some time. You could always try to request manual indexing in Search Console
great thanks to your tutorial! but not in my case. my sitemap is browsable via the web. but dit not pass the XML validation rules (Incorrect http header content-type: "" (expected: "application/xml"). I hope you can help me with this thank you
