We all knew Baldur's Gate was going to win all the awards. Amelia Tyler not winning for her narration should be a crime. She puts players through the entire emotional spectrum and gives the game life.
I tried to play PoE once when I was still a student and stopped quickly because my laptop and my parents' crummy internet connection didn't allow for it. Now these VODs got me to try the game again 9 or 10 years later. And MAN, I'm already way too hooked on it. I've been playing a Raging Skull witch with the same mindset of "just do what seems cool" and it's really fun.

Question keep getting asked about Otherlands. In short, it is a fantastic 4 book series. It is imperfect, but I enjoyed the story very much and would love a spinoff with stories of the house world.
The reason most games are good for their time is because the standard of what is impressive evolves and advances. There was a period of time a cave painting of a man holding a stick attacking a cow was impressive. It wouldnt be so now. Moat people expect more from games as time moves forward and get bored of older graphics and story telling and gameplay. You like older games and arent young anymore so change is inherently not as appealing for you. But for us younger crowd we are on the train of progress and want to keep seeing better and better games. We want to see games learn from past mistakes and make even better stories and experiences. Your standard for what is impressive is outdated. Portal as your example shows that. Its outdated. Its old. And many people simply wont care to even try it now let alone finish it. But when it came out it was a banger. Skyrim is timeless. Why? Mods. The mods keep it moving to date with the times keeping it fresh and filled with content that is still unique to skyrim. Older games are a rough pill to swallow for alot of younger people because we are used to a higher standard. And thats a good thing. Its the youth that push gaming forward with our rising expectations and clear disdain for older outdated games with outdated graphics and mechanics and story telling. Older people like you dont contribue to that and can be safely ignored while you reminisce over the glory days.
@@wumi2419 Bad things arent impressive. They may be new. But they are still bad and usually greedy. SOME companies do do it well and its needed for funding. GGG is an example of excellent micro transactions and an impressive game. Outdated means straight up older. Older ways of telling stories. Older tech. Older gameplay. Things outside of that spectrum are things like music. But even that can be dated.
10:40 I'd rather hear from the Muppet for 5 minutes than listen to a game developer, man or woman, give an acceptance speech. No one watches award shows for acceptance speeches, they watch to see Ricky Gervais humiliate actors.
I didn't watch the Game Awards but I've heard that they didn't receive well. I really wish we could give less shits about the people who are relevant for having money, merely existing and being full of themselves.
i will never forgive him for taking away turkey twizzlers they came back a year ago in icelands but they did not even try to make them taste anything like they did before
hahaha Josh is the nicest dude. 05:30 "we finished work, now we can play the game" 🤣🤣🤣 As much as i love PoE, i just can't play it in it's current state. It's literally an inventory management simulator now, plus all the currencies, the bloated endgame, way too much to do. It would be better for me if they "reveal" one content after another after finishing the campaign, so you can go from one to another insted of going all over the place.
I mean, on the current Atlas Tree you can literally click Nodes that say "I don't want to see this kind of content." If you use that Maps become a bit more empty. I had to accept that I just need to skip all the COntent I'm not specced into, that helped.
Bro I heard about this dude playing poe for the fist time, now I'm seeing this video. 5 hour haven't even finished half of act2 is crazy slow dude(I am not a speedrunner, sometimes I waste time a ton and I finished acts in like 7 hours. I now know why new players quit, not because its hard or complex, just follow a guide youll be perfectly fine, but this, this is exactly why people quit I'm not saying he is not having fun or anything, play a game however you like but there are 10 acts he spends 3 hours each 2 week later he will finish acts, hell just play it casually and slowly quit.
I started in 2017, I finished the acts in 30 hours ish, and still playing today. It's not a big deal, new players don't need to rush anything and certainly don't need a guide if they don't want to. The game is complicated, have a bit of a weird onboarding process and is catered to a very specific group of people, the people that would follow an external guide to get to the end game. That why only a few percentage of people stayed, and they will stay for a long time.
thank you Josh for your donation to path of exile

That's more arrows than there are stars in the entire solar system
You're only a 2nd monitor streamer because you're just as fun to listen to as watch. Which is a thing very few streamers can claim.
I'm so glad you enjoy this game, cheers and good luck this league! You'll be happy to know rain of arrows has a new version that has 40+ arrows! :)
I just started playing, trying a paladin build of my own design. Having fun with it so far.

Haven't watched this for very long yet but I'm excited for when Josh discovers Manaforged Arrows
Josh is making a tutorial on how to buy stuff?

Thank you for your contribution
Ah the wind and the sea
If I'm only using one ultrawide monitor... which side does Josh identify with?
I really hope he sees it through to the end game.
Yay, a Douglas Adams quote ☺
Great stream!
14:52 I'm hating you for not playing New Vegas. Go play New Vegas!

Do your rising expectations also include rise of microtransactions and similar "mechanics"? Games without that are certainly outdated.
