I first saw Doug in 1965 in a little Folk club in Norfolk, VA.....He was playing a 12 string Martin at the time. He had to get another guitar player to tune it for him. He was doing a lot of Leadbelly and the late Dave "Snaker" Ray material back then.....It's now 2016 and I'm still listening to him.......He is the best bluesman in America......I never get tired of listening to this blues master

WOW. I was at this show. I was also fortunate enough to take a class from Doug that he taught at McCabes's. I've seen him play live three or four times, once randomly at a BBQ restaurant I happened to be eating at. Such an inspiration watching him play. His music goes Straight to your soul.
This is my favorite version of this song. Doug is bad to the bone. I like the cd version a lil better but either way it's a complete masterpiece. I love the slide geetar and this cat can slide with the best of em!

Tom Rush recorded a variation of this song in the 1960's called "The Panama Limited." He played the blues so well. Nice to see this song still alive.
Tom is still playing it during his concerts. I love RR songs. Five generations of my family worked on the L&N.

Reminds me of Mike Dowling's blues playing, just a little more bluesy.
