  • In this video, I am showing off an awesome local Las Vegas area hiking trail! This hike is located in the Valley Of Fire State Park, roughly about an hour and 15-minute drive from Las Vegas. The Prospect Trail is labeled as moderate at 8.7 miles round-trip and 770 feet of elevation gain. This is a really beautiful hike that takes you through a very colorful landscape! There is some light scrambling involved and lots of hiking through scenic dry washes. The trail ends at the amazing White Rock Slot Canyon! This is a great hike if you want to do something longer with very few people on the trail!

    Great video, as always. I didn't even know about this trail. I just downloaded it in my AllTrails app. In my late 70s, I won't try to do the whole thing. My goal will be to make it to the little scramble section at 5:17, then declare a great victory and return to the trailhead happy as can be.

      Oh yeah, honestly, that's a good turnaround point. It's so extremely beautiful that whole section! You can't go wrong with that. I'm glad I'm showing you a new trail and that you're gonna try it. I know you too well now, and you'll do it probably way sooner than later. Thanks for watching!

      @@adventuringoutdoorswitheric I live in Texas actually. My Husband and I visit Vegas to hike about once a year, usually for a week. But this year I'm hoping to make it out more for long weekend hikes if we can swing it. I like to say, I never had an obsession until I saw the desert.

    I take it the place got it's name from the summer time temperatures I can just imagine how hot it would get, yes the views of the rock formations along the trail were amazing and that slot canyon might of been at the end but was cool to go through (it seemed very narrow) take care brother until the next one

    • @adventuringoutdoorswitheric

      It looks like Valley Of Fire got it name from someone who purportedly said that the entire valley looked like it was on fire; hence the name. So it's for the red rocks, but it still gets crazy hot here in the summertime. The hike and the slot canyon were pretty awesome! It's most definitely worth getting up early in the morning to do! Thanks, Craig! Much appreciated, brother 🙏.

      @@adventuringoutdoorswitheric though red rocks must real cool (well hot like on fire) when you get a nice red in the sky sunset

    Yikes! Looks like a cold morning! Do you get much wind out that way? Just wondering if you have to worry about any wind chill or if you are just focused on that actual temp. Lots of great comments on this hike - sounds like you really enjoyed it! It's nice when a trail surprises us and its better than expected.

    • @adventuringoutdoorswitheric
      @adventuringoutdoorswitheric  7 місяців тому

      Yeah, it was a pretty cold start, but luckily, it warmed up nicely later on. We do have very windy days here. But I don't go out hiking when it's like that. This is about as cold as we get out here. It's not normally this cold. I was enjoying the hike a lot, especially since I've never done it before, and I didn't know exactly what to expect. But i'm glad I finally crossed this one off my list. Thanks, Josh!
