I would have solved the problem by forcing Waruka (the evil selfish monster, er, mother, that is in the story) to stay with myself, Tsubasa, and Nao. I would have then told Tsubasa about Waruka needing to feel ashamed about her trying to use her for her own gain, rather than truly loving him, and I would make Waruka literally break because she wanted to use people rather than love them in their lives. The MC is a spineless wimp in the story. Tsubasa can join a soccer team at any time, or he can grow out of the love of the game, and that is something that stupid people like Waruka fail to realize in the story. Also, if she wanted to look down on Nao due to his potential autistic spectrum disorder, then that would make me want to shame Waruka more in the story.
