Greetings from the UK. I have just found and subscribed to your channel and working my way through all your videos. I have been riding a fixies for 40 years and also have just converted a24 year old MTB into a drop bar 1 x gravel bike :-) Thank you for your videos. I appreciate the work it takes. Be well and be safe.. Paul
Great video guys! I love cycling through the Netherlands although I have only really done it along the coast en route to Amsterdam a few times. Very keen to get out bike packing and videos like yours are fantastic for giving me the motivation to do so (depending on when our ridiculous lockdown in the UK lifts, that is). Subscribed for more! All the best :)
Awesome videos guys, I just don’t know how the heck you ride that many km in a day and then do the same day after day, great job fellas , I will keep riding to improve my distance as I haven’t been riding for that long. Thanks for the video and sharing it with us. 👍
Great vids! Could you please share reference of bag you show on 4.53? Sorry probably a bit thick could not find it. Am I right in thinking it is a top tube bag or is it in fact a front/handlebar one. Many thanks. P
Nice video and trip by the looks of it. Congrats. What is the situation with camping in the Netherlands? Do they turn a blind eye if you set camp just over night with a small tent?
just thread a guy line of your tent through the spokes of your bike. as soon as some one tries to remove it, you'll notice! :) however, a very small cable lock or a hiplok z-lock can be quite useful especially for quick supermarket stops if you're on your own.
Fernwee Ah, smart packing. I know there are some packs with lightweight frames to stabilize them. Great timing on the video releases, as my weekends are on Wednesday and Thursday 👍🏻
Hi! Big thumps up luxembourg. I have a question concerning your focus mares. How does it compare to the paralane you have been riding before in terms of ride feel? I'm looking for a gravel bike with road-bike-like feel on the road, not something too lazy or sluggish handlingwise. Why didn't you go for a propper gravel bike? Thanks for your feedback. Keep the vids coming, ciao.
I think the Mares is pretty good on the road as well, really feels like a fast and racey bike, more so than ‘standard’ gravel bikes I think, because CX has a more aggressive geometry than gravel usually.
Hi guys, great Video! What I am wondering is, where do you put your stove and pot/cup stuff? That's the only problem I still have to think about while using exactly the same setup as you guys do!
Fernwee - How long is your cloud up 1 when packed up? The naturehike website says 45cm ... but it also aays the cloud up 2 packs to 40cm long. 40cm works for me, 45cm is not so great.
Another great job on the video! Was that a designated camping spot or just a park you spent the night in? Curious how to plan "where" to stay overnight? Any tips or tricks? Might be another good video?
Why wouldn't you put inner tubes in your frame bag with yr tools? If you had to puncture you'd have open up your saddle bag and remove all yr clothing. Seems pretty illogical to me especially if it's raining 🤷
Hey mate love the video! I'd love to start planning my own trip for the coming summer, where did you get all the bike bags from? Was it the mentioned ali express seller?
I prefer the Axiom Fatliner rack with panniers. Carry more gear and doesn't swing around like your's seemed to do. I didn't hear you mention your water filtration system if you had one.
I think something like that would be great yeah, been looking at Tailfin myself. And we didn't carry a water filtration system, we were in the Netherlands afterall ;)
Your doing some right when I check for new videos daily, need my fix. Good tip on the Ali Express shop, perhaps a more detailed vid on the kit 👍
Really good video. Thanks! You have some lovely countryside to ride through there. It looks like a really fun and memorable adventure.

Thanks Paul, glad to have you, and there’s a lot of videos for you to check out! ;)
This is a great video. It has inspired my wife and I. Can't wait for new videos every week
Quality, entertaining , and informative vlog guys.

Great stuff Ferwee and friends.
Thanks!
Which sleeping bag did you take? How wide are your handlebars? Mine are 38s so I have to be careful with tent dimensions.
loving the chill vibe

Epic gasten, nooit gedacht dat Nederland zo mooi kan zijn om te fietsen! Groeten uit Australië (je kan hier ook best mooi bikepacken)
How do you pack your cameraequipment on a trip like this if your now wearing the camera on the strap?
Entertaining video. Was fun to watch it. Keep it going 👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video! I like Netherlands:) Good that you was wearing mtb shoes))

Do you think i can fit some Schwalbe G-one 40c on my mares cx?
Hey, very nice video. What tents are you guys using? Sorry, if this is question has been asked multiple times before
NatureHike CloudUp1/2
Thanks 👍🏼

What's the name of the big back under the saddle?
Another day another bikepacking vlog, thanks Martijn.
Just found your channel, great videos! subbed
Do you have a gear list you guys use? Like tents, sleeping bags, pads, etc?
Not really!
can share the camera u used? quite nice video tho
Is it bad that I wear the same kit for 15-day trips... I use creeks and lakes to bathe!!!
Sounds perfect!
Triple Karmeliet 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
What was your sleeping bag and mat?
This makes me want to get a gravel bike bad! and pedal across Australia! What sunglasses are those you use?
theyre alba optics delta
Where do you have room for cooking utensils? And/or food?
Saddlebag
What size seat bag is that Apidura. Looks like it hold a lot!
Its by Pro, and 15l I think
Really cool video. Which saddle and front bags did you use?
Great English gentlemen. Greetings from Missouri USA.
Great vids! Could you please share reference of bag you show on 4.53? Sorry probably a bit thick could not find it. Am I right in thinking it is a top tube bag or is it in fact a front/handlebar one. Many thanks. P
Hey you’re right its actually just a handlebar bag by Restrap flipped around.
Fernwee thanks!
160 km! Flat or hilly? Huge difference.
They are cycling in the Netherlands :)
I have the feeling I missed it, but what are your front and saddle bag?
Apidura and Pro respectively ✨
and the beer? wheres the beer? you need to shots of you enjoying the food and drinks so we can enjoy it as well. great video btw!
Great trip. One question What kind 9f glasses are you wearing? Are they Oakley?
Alba Optics!
Thanks!!!🚲🚲🚲🚲
where do you mount your gopro then?
What was the Ali express store you mentioned for the lightweight kit?
NatureHike
Fernwee thanks!
Really nice ride ❤️😉
what camera do you use on the bike? it was so smooth
Gopro hero 8 👌
Mate what is specs of your gravel bike?? Focus??
Would you mind sharing the exact tent (: I am a big fan of your light setup!
NatureHike CloudUp1 🤘🏼
@@Fernwee Cheers!
Nice video and trip by the looks of it. Congrats. What is the situation with camping in the Netherlands? Do they turn a blind eye if you set camp just over night with a small tent?
Not really, we camped in friends’ back yards, if you want to camp out in the wild you have to make sure you dont get found ;)
Perfect trip. Br from Poland.
What seatpost bag is Jelmer using?
A Restrap one!
Does Jan use any cycling glasses with prescription/op sterkte?
Yeah he has Alba optics with these extra glasses in them
(A beginner question) it seems that bikepackers don't take any locks with them. How do you make sure your bikes aren't stolen while you are sleeping?
I usually bring a lock, but if you’re really remote maybe you dont need one?
just thread a guy line of your tent through the spokes of your bike. as soon as some one tries to remove it, you'll notice! :) however, a very small cable lock or a hiplok z-lock can be quite useful especially for quick supermarket stops if you're on your own.
hi what bike frame materials did you guys use? thanks
Carrrrrbon!
Mooie tocht👌🏻! Welk merk/type fietsbril draag je?
I like a lot man! Really good, thank you
Glad to hear it!
What is Kaj's saddle pack? I notice it doesn't swing from side to side so much as Jelmer's.
He has a Lezyne XL Caddy, but I think it's more the way he rode than the pack itself, they're both quite swingy ;)
Fernwee Ah, smart packing. I know there are some packs with lightweight frames to stabilize them. Great timing on the video releases, as my weekends are on Wednesday and Thursday 👍🏻
Hah what a coincidence ;)
So does MAAP carry any clothing without their name plastered all over it - the riding billboard: )

What a cool adventure!, I watched them in reverse order for some reason, maybe dislexia hahahaha.
What did you use to brew the coffee?
This is what we brought, super-handy! brew22.com
Nice vid as always! Where can I buy this strap that holds the camera on the back?
You’ll soon be able to buy it from us, it’s DIY and we’re taking it into production!
I am curious
Hi, did you use an one or a two person tent? Greetings from Brabant!
1 person for me, 2 person for the other guys
Hey Martijn,
which Abus helmet do you use?
Airbreaker!
Hey Martijn which brand are your glasses?
+1 on the glasses ID 😎
Alba Optics Delta 👌🏻
Hi man
Why rear tyre is narrow than front? For want?
There's less clearance in the back for big tires, so I just run them both as big as the space is!
@@Fernwee Plus, offload the front needs more traction. It's normal practice for MTB here in the PNW.
"offroad" Damned autocorrupt!
True that!
I guess I don’t need a fork with mounts!!! Haha
Hi guys, great Video! What I am wondering is, where do you put your stove and pot/cup stuff? That's the only problem I still have to think about while using exactly the same setup as you guys do!
In our saddle bags!
What tent did you buy and would you recommend it? Cool trip btw!
The others have a NatureHike Cloudup2, I have the Cloudup1, small differences, but both pretty good tents!

This time we used designated camping spots, but got a new video upcoming where we found a different solution ;)

Whats the handlebar size? Length
It would be really cool if you went back to using the Mares and not the Atlas.
Haha why would that be really cool?
@@Fernwee I'm partial to the Mares and it's done on CX not a marketed gravel bike.
Friedhats mug 🥳
Representing the best ;)
Hey mate love the video! I'd love to start planning my own trip for the coming summer, where did you get all the bike bags from? Was it the mentioned ali express seller?
Nope, the bags are from Restrap / Apidura / Pro / Lezyne, a nice mix ;)
@@Fernwee thanks mate!
Seems like luxurious bikepacking! No offence.
Love me a bit of luxury
what glasses do you wear?
Alba Optics Delta!
sleeping pad: my fav choice is the thermarest neo air - packs smaller than a bike bottle
Cool, thanks for the tip!
