Thank you very much for the review! RTX 3070 (laptop) still a very powerful graphic card. It allowed me to play many games at max settings, even Dead Space Remake 60fps 4K dlss performance. 4080 and more interesting 4090 is a beast! Worth upgrade from 3070. But I will personally wait for 5090 laptop myself.

The 4080 is the only viable upgrade from 3070 however pricing is still around £3k mark which is diabolical and a generational mismatch which Nvidia has tried to force this generation and in a great position to do so with AMD seemingly giving up on laptop graphics which I still can't really understand
Look at the strix g16 i got the 4080 for €2100.

@@lyntonbell7604 i got the 614jz its 165hz fhd+, 100%sgrb brightness is 300nits no hdr. But the anti glare is really good
It's definitely viable. But the 3070 still performs very well when using dlss in 4k and 1440p.
The only time I feel like my 3070 laptop is lacking is in VR or streaming to my tablet, It looks like a 4080 laptop would solve that problem. You would think a 3070 would be great for vr but its really not, it takes all sorts of tweaking to get playable framerates in many games, some games I wont even play because they don't run smooth enough, even half life alyx, I get dropped frames during combat one flying robot will cause reprojection, and I have one of the better 3070 laptops that uses the entire 130 watts

Im very tempted to upgrade my 3070 to a 4080 but those 1% stutters in Hogwarts make me wonder if its even worth it.

This is exactly the comparison I was looking for. I currently own the Asus Zephyrus G15 with the 3070.
I ordered the Asus Strix G18 with the 4080, but I might order the Legion Pro 7i if the Asus has bad coil whine.
How's the g18? What do you use it for? Just gaming?
@atetraxx Yup. Just gaming. It's really impressive how powerful it is, but I kinda overlooked some of the trade offs I made. My Asus Zephyrus G15 with the 3070 is really slim and sleek. Easy to put in a backpack. It also has a fingerprint reader that makes booting up really quick.
The Strix G18 is a chunky monkey. And it has no biometrics for signing into windows. I also thought that I would care a lot more about the RGB lighting, but I honestly could do without it.
I'm trying to decide if I actually want to keep this new laptop. The performance is outstanding, but my old one still isn't bad.

thank you very much. can you compare that 4080 laptop to a desktop 30xx card. I just want to know how it will do against my desktop 3090. i am thinking if it is close to my 3090 desktop then i can swap both desktop and 3060 laptop for just a 4080 laptop.
4080 laptop 175 will for sure outperform your 3090, and will for sure be a much better for long run
