    I have foot arthritis which was really bad about 5-7 years ago. I figure skated for many years, long hours in figure skates, not to mention the constraints of regular shoe wear. For several years, my feet froze up on me and I could not predict whether I could walk from my car to work, or get up out of a chair and trust myself to not stumble and fall. Through bringing my inflammatory markers down with eating foods that did not increase inflammation (food sensitivity testing), eliminating gluten from my diet, improving my sleep, moderating my exercise program, managing my stress, fixing my microbiome (gut testing and correcting with diet/supplements), wearing toe spacers, and wearing barefoot shoes, I was able to decrease my inflammation and pain. Now, I rarely have episodes of significant foot pain.

      @leslieparran6782 this is inspiring! I have similar complaints having been a dancer my whole life (starting out in pointe shoes). I have been on a similar path toward relief as well. It’s a full time job!! 😄
      Thanks for sharing some hope 🤗.

    Great info. I combined watching and listening to this with a leg/foot workout to make this an hour well spent 🙂. Thanks for this. Have a great weekend

    Yoni, thanks so much for all this fascinating and important info! Regarding minimalist shoes, I found personally that since the damage was already done (from dancing my whole life, starting with several years in pointe shoes and then 30+ years dancing barefoot on every surface imaginable), the minimalist shoes did not offer enough comfort for arthritic toes, ankles, knees and low back degeneration. 5 years ago, I threw out all my shoes and bought minimalist shoes with wide toe boxes and started wearing toe separators. The wider width was dreamy but the lack of cushioning was excruciating. If you have a chance, I’d be curious to know what you would say to this and if other people have had the same concern. Thanks very much! I learn so much from your videos (and as a massage therapist, I love that I can pass on the knowledge to clients ☺️).

      Thank you for your kind words, Sarah! I'm so glad these videos are helpful for you and your clients.
      I agree with you 100% about the experience of a wide toe box. I would suggest taking a look at some of the offerings from Lems. They have many styles with a wide toe box, zero drop and varying amounts cushioning. Here's a link: alnk.to/4XuVOWu

      @@painfixprotocol thanks! I have Lems, Xero Shoes and Unshoes, and I can wear all of them with an extra insert for added cushioning. Keens work pretty well for me, though I wouldn’t consider them zero drop. I will definitely try some of your other suggestions/videos for foot pain and arthritis. 🙏☺️

    I have been using Wii Fit Plus for balance. As soon as I started to do the balance and aerobic exercises bare foot I noticed how strong my feet became and I gained greater agility in movement.

      Absolutely, Anne! Sensory input from the feet is essential for optimal balance!
      This is arguably the most important feature of minimalist, barefoot style footwear.

    Thanks for another great video, Yoni. I never thought of running as something I was naturally born / able to do. My one experience with jogging decades ago (I was a long-distance swimmer at the time, the pool was closed so I went out with a jogging friend instead), was misery! ;) I’ve been a walker instead for almost 4 decades. My question is about the emphasis in the video to land on the ball of the foot (instead of the heel) when running. That makes sense for running - is it also true for walking?
    I’ve been wearing barefoot-style shoes (and going barefoot indoors) for almost 9 years now. When I try to land on the ball of the foot, it feels awkward. I land heel to toe, especially if I’m not thinking about it. Is this just a habit that I need to break? Or is there a difference between running and walking?

      @painfixprotocol  5 місяців тому +1

      Really good question, Teri!
      I am going to make a video on this because there's a lot of confusion on the topic. The short answer is there's a big difference between walking and running. With walking the heel should contact the ground first - that's why it feels "awkward" to try to land on the ball of the foot (it's an attempt to manually override your natural programming).
