I am one of those real estate agents that does their own content. Currently using the pocket 1, and galaxy s22 ultra and Hohem mt2. Looks like the pocket will blow away my current setup and simplify my life
I’ve got the pocket 3 last week and used it a few times. I love it. Massive upgrade on the pocket 2 and I liked that. Yes it isn’t going to perform like a 5k camera and lenses do on a pro gimble. But in all honesty by the time you have set up your expensive kit I’ve finished my video and the difference in the final product isn’t that big on most scenario’s
I tested the Pocket 3 at one of my RE shoots today and was quite impressed overall. In my market fast and cheap is the name of the game and the Pocket 3 seems like a good tool for that so far, certainly for a budget video option for agents. I'd love a little more dynamic range in the windows but, again, as a budget option it could be a winner.
Well, watching on a cheap laptop (as clients might do...) I actually thought the Pocket 3 footage "sold" the house more than the other camera. It looked a bit more colourful and punchy to me. My overall response is that the chances of the Pocket 3 losing you a sale would be pretty small - even if the other camera's results were technically better. But I'm not in the business (though my son is!). But... If I was making a video to sell a house, I'd approach it very differently if I was using the FX3 vs the Pocket 3. You did mention how the lack of a tilting screen was a problem with the Pocket 3 and how you could "hold a phone in your other hand" to get around that, but that's not the best option by a long chalk. I don't know whether you ever used the Pocket 2 on the official extension rod with its physical buttons on the lower end of the rod, where the phone can be clamped on, but that's almost the only way that I use my Pocket 2 - it takes the creative possibilities to a whole new level. I believe that's a forthcoming accessory for the Pocket 3 - I really hope so! Meanwhile, it's very easy to put together a pole with a phone clamp on the bottom, fixing the Pocket 3 to the top end of the pole via the tripod mount attachment they supply. Deploying that would be quite a bit faster than deploying a full size gimbal, I would expect - one minute? Then you've got creative opportunities which a standard gimbal and normal-sized camera just doesn't offer. So what would be interesting would be to compare not only the picture quality vs the FX3 but also the creative possibilities of the two. Instead of shooting a close-to-identical video using the Pocket 3, set it up on a pole and shoot a completely different one. Then see which would be the most likely to have commercial success and client appeal. (For instance, fly across the pool. Walk up to a barely open window and go right inside, or the reverse - back out and pan round the garden. Lift the camera up into that high roof space and glide down. And so forth). But here I am, happily spending hours of your precious time!
Definitely a great bang for buck, even with the very obvious blown out highlights. Pitted against an iPhone 15 Pro on a gimbal in ProRes LOG would be really interesting and probably the main option people are weighing against the Pocket 3. Mount the Pocket horizontally on top of the FX3 while on the gimbal and boom: 4-axis stabilization, a pocket Ronin 4D lol. Still think nothing can beat (at the price point) the flexibility having the 12,800 second base ISO the FX3 gives to be able to stop down.
The main point in this video is admitting that no one who's viewing the video professionally cares about the minor difference in dynamic range. Therefore there's no reason to use the expensive Sony cinema camera.
I did some test and find dlog m does not need overexpose as well. Actually -0.3--0.7 yield best result. The log is not very log. More like a natural profile with saturation tune down or cine 4 with sat tune down from Sony camera.
Ken is on the other side of town from the office when he gets a frantic call from a realtor that needs a house around the corner shot like yesterday. Does Ken drive to the office to get his gear to bail out the realtor? Hell no, he just reaches under the Jeep seat and pulls out his emergency video kit of a Mini 4 Pro and Osmo Pocket 3. One hour later Ken is back shooting pool with his friends.
I find there were some shots that look better on the Pocket 3. Sometimes I think, and I don't mean you, that many people "like" the Sony's pictures better because they know that it is the more expensive camera. A blind attempt is sometimes dramatic. I saw a video where a larger camera, the iPhone 15 Pro and the Pocket 3 were compared. I always recognized the iPhone straight away - it was actually the worst. With the other two I was often wrong about which was the more expensive camera as well as the better picture. And often it was the Osmo Pocket 3. Amazing.
Finally a review that sees potential for real estate for the Pocket 3. I'm doing yacht photography, and see this as a very interesting tool for the notoriously tight spaces onboard yachts. At bathrooms and other rooms with many mirrors, I would also be able to place the Osmo on a monopod in a corner, leave the room and do pans using the mobile app. Although that is technically doable with any camera/drone combinations, they require more room and are more of a hassle to set up. Another thing is that 180 grams vs. 1.8 kilograms which is what my current gimbal/camera/lens combination weighs, means that I will be less tired, stay concentrated longer, and making fewer mistakes towards the end of the day. Thank you for a good and very useful review.
Looks really good. I agree it doesn’t need over exposing, I think at a lower exposure they’d match even better. The most noticeable difference to me was how it handled the tungsten lights. They were blown and pretty yellow, lights off might work better for the pocket 3 to avoid mixing white balances.
Well you know…. Good things come in….. 3! Love the work you do and I’m still super motivated by you and other drone and real estate videographers and photographers to get into this field of work. Can’t wait for my time to shine in the industry. But for now, thank you to you and everyone else for the motivation and inspiration to get people excited for these things. Stay original!!!! Something that is annoying is how yellow cast look in all Sony's lineup the bathroom looked better with the Osmo specially on the chrome hardware. Great Video!
I would probably slightly underexpose the pocket and lift and clean the shadows in post. I’m with you on the distortion, that wide angle adapter will never be on my pocket camera. For quick turnaround where maximum quality is not needed, this is good enough. I also use a monopod for some crane moves using my phone as a monitor, it gets the job done fast and easy
im in the same boat with a bunch of 4k bodies and 3 different gimbals. the sony is absolutely more detailed and looks more expensive but...i am on a 43" 4k computer monitor and i can see the difference but if i watch it on my iPhone or iPad the difference is negligible IMO. i have a spa that im shooting at the end of the month and plan to use the pocket 3. i may sell some of my real camera gear if the pocket works out.
Bought the Pocket 3 a few days ago after watching your video - can't wait to try it out on my next job!! Did you list all the settings you were using for this video? ...might've missed it.
That white blow out on the Pocket 3 really gives it away. But then again, if you're starting out in RealEstate and want to do this but don't have the budget, of course you could go pocket3. But even better, you could go something like ZV-E1 with a DJI RS3 Mini as a mid range option.
Could have just exposed for the highlights and pushed it in resolve... That looked like an exposure choice by the shooter that hampered the outcome there. Don't overexpose when uou have a dynamic range limitation, the shadows can be noise reduced. The highlights can't be bought back. Do it again with the wide angle adapter on the three, underexpose by a stop, and post it nicely. I reckon it would be very different outcome.
It's not often you see a revolutionary product but since 10 years ago when Sony released A7s and now when pocket 3 is released we are here again, a revolutionary product!
Was going to say there is a clear dynamic range difference, but you did say you overexposed it. So the only other thing I can think of is the lighter P3 will have more jerky movements, so its not going to be the 'professional tool'. But with that said, this gimbal setup is not built for that, and what it does do for what its worth, its quite incredible! I have the P1 and love it. The P2 was not an 'upgrade' for me as I had all the accessories for the P1. But the P3 is a worthy considerations now. I however dream of a day when they come out with an m43 with limited lens swapping options. That would be NICE!
This is what I wanted to do with the Osmo 2 for my real estate photography business, but after just testing it out on random objects I could tell that was a no-go in comparison to my gimble/A7 setup, but I always maintained hope that future upgrades will allow for it soon as carrying a vastly lighter video setup would make shoots that much more fun and easy going. Just hearing about the Osmo 3 and seeing the image quality difference gave me some hope... did a real estate Osmo search and you came up per usual, exactly what I was hoping for. Hearing the fiddlyness, and wide-angle issues makes me feel like it's a pass though. The Osmo image quality is passable now, comparable to the A7III at this point in its age, which is amazing, but of course, professional gear is also about efficiency on-site + I noticed the windows were definitely more blown out in comparison to FX3's HDR as expected, and I feel the Osmo would still be blown out regardless of knocking down the exposure. Cheers, thanks for always looking into alternatives like this.
The Osmo looked incredible! I get where you said that it’ll never replace your normal gear but that’s not the point. Like you said, these listings come and go, and it looks like the Osmo can easily shoot the same shots with way less equipment.
For bigger screen you can always use dji pocket extension rod (it is not compatible wih osmo pocket 3, but should be doable with mounting that pocket 3 bracket). And yes... for the final client the difference is unnoticable... what imho sells most is the person behind the camera and final editing :)
I've filmed inside large retail stores many times usually with a 360 camera but now I have bought the pocket 3 I will be using it next time as it will make the job so much easier and faster, It looks very pro on your video!
Nice review, Ken. I've never been an osmo pocket guy, but I can see adding this one day. The 1" sensor makes it so much better than the 2, which a buddy has and that I've used quite a bit. Thanks for the tech info, dude!
Looks great the OP3. If you over exposed, they are probably very similar then. Fot a one inch sensor is doing great. Did you try the sensor crop (zoom) to make the images more tight? Does it loose a lot of resolution?
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. It was very informative and interesting. Just curious; why do you use a Sony 14mm 1.8 vs. 12-24mm f4? Thanks.
Honestly, like probably most peoples, I hardly can see a difference. The image of the OP3 is so clear... Seeing an add filmed with it would probably convinced me as well as the on filmed with the biger camera rig. As long as the editing is well made, the PO3 does the job hands down. Only a professionnal will see a difference. I believe not 99% of the population.
Thank you for taking your time. I have a cheap Iphone and i was scared of having to upgrade to a 15pro super duper max, now, but looking at your footage, I can tell is more than enough for me. So I'll give it a try. 😅
Ich mag das Bild der Pocket 3 mehr! Aber ich bin auch kein Fan von Sony 😀 Die Pocket 3 werde ich mir zu 100% auch kaufen! Und... Was ist das bitte für ein schönes Haus ? wow !!! Klasse! Danke für das Video :-)
The lack of width with the lens makes it unusable, I’d say. In smaller rooms that would be a major issue.. a lot of the shots looked good but were pretty tight. I’m wondering how it would perform in the sort of low light we get here in the winter - badly, I presume.
I'm a realtor and I've been shooting my own videos for years. Currently on an iPhone 14 Pro with an Osmo 4 gimbal. I previously had a Pocket 2 but the footage was garbage compared my iPhone 14 Pro. I just ordered the Pocket 3 and it looks like the footage will be at least as good as my iPhone 14 Pro but will be WAY less fiddly to deal with the iPhone + gimbal pain in the ass situation when I just want to get into a house and get the shots I need quickly or if I want to shoot a quick UA-cam Short or IG Reel.
How does it handle low light or going back and fourth from dark to light? I do a lot of smaller cottages that can get pretty dark, but i also do video on my phone so i’m sure anything is better than that. Coming from someone who doesn’t have the need to purchase a larger gimbal
Geniunely think that Pocket 3 looks and feels smoother. I also got a7iv and sigma 24-70 but i look like a dork carrying it so might get pocket 3 and x100vi to replace my photo/video setup.
In the words of the Not Way guy.... "Whaaaat, nooo way!".... I was not expecting such good footage from the Osmo. Any videos on how you color grade homes? Nice white walls in this video, hard to do.
I am doing Real Estate Photography with the help of Fujifilm XT3. Client want video too can Pocket 3 is Good For beginner like Me ? I Never done video before also not have gimbal right now. Please Share Your Answer thanks.
Awesome seeing side-by-side, thanks for taking the time here. 👏👏 So re: distortion, curious if you still see it when camera straight and level? Or verticals just get wonky when tilted?
Great comparison video. !!!Osmo Pocket 3 has me interested.. I have seen a few other videos on it and the low light night shots looked better that I thought they would.. Always enjoy your content..
You couldn't tell the difference if you didn't know which camera was which. In fact the dji out preformed your Sony. You would have never known which was what.
Hey Ken, Really appreciated the side-by-side comparison, particularly noting the Sony’s superior dynamic range-those overexposed windows really showed what the Sony can handle. It’s like you read the minds of us detail-oriented viewers! I’m curious about the Osmo’s capabilities as a hybrid camera for HDR stills in real estate contexts, since that’s an area without much room for compromise. It seems to lack HDR or AEB features, doesn’t it? That alone seems to swing things heavily in Sony’s favor for professional use. I’d be thrilled to see a comparison that pits tools against each other on a more level playing field. How about an iPhone 15 Pro Max (stabilized on a gimbal) versus the Pocket 3? Or even the latest GoPro against the Pocket 3, tailored for the real estate cinematic scene. There’s a wealth of action camera reviews out there, but not enough through the lens of our industry’s specific needs. Looking forward to potentially seeing that content. Your insights would be invaluable!
Great video 🙌 As someone who prefers the convenience of shooting walkthroughs on an iPhone rather than mirrorless camera, this is a very interesting product to me. I wonder what downsides, if any, there might be to using this new DJI over an iPhone 15 on a gimbal.
The osmo footage pulverizes the FX3 or am I hallucinating??? The FX3 seems to have better DR and can recover the highlights better but damn (also less noise)! If that's only the difference!! Just waw! I prefer the Osmo result honestly. I was looking for a video like this, thank you for sharing!

The auto exposure is really smooth and snappy you shouldn’t have a issue
@@OriginaldoBo awesome thanks for the feedback!
I would be happy with that footage of any house. Nothing is blurred out so you can actually see everything
Came for the Pocket 3 but man, the editing is lit!!!
Question: Do you add post stabilization as well?
No post stabilization applied, I just try to ninja walk my butt off
@@OriginaldoBo nice. It looks really stable!
Does the pocket 3 have a linear mode for the lens? Your verticals look great -- I expected to see some distortion on the sides.
With the standard lens it’s already correcting
I thought the osmo looked like cell phone footage. Killer transitions!!!
I mainly do vlogs and am replacing my GoPro with osmo 4, however now I am considering the pocket 3. I’d be curious how they compare with each other.
i assure you that i make a tv commercial with the osmo and no one would tell me that i did it with that little camera. incredible.
What editing software do you use?
cool soundtrack bro! nice comparission! thanks
I fuck with you because you keep it real and also teach us how to become entrepreneurs
Another great comparison. Thank you so much Ken for your hard work.
Geniunely think that Pocket 3 looks and feels smoother. I also got a7iv and sigma 24-70 but i look like a dork carrying it so might get pocket 3 and x100vi to replace my photo/video setup.
Did u use it for vertical footage
Ayeee Frank Albert is a beast. I’m from Tampa. I was watching this video thinking it looked very similar to his videographer’s video style 😉
Frank really is 💪🏻
Great vid, the P3 looks great.
In the words of the Not Way guy.... "Whaaaat, nooo way!".... I was not expecting such good footage from the Osmo. Any videos on how you color grade homes? Nice white walls in this video, hard to do.
Can you compare the pocket 3 to iPhone 15 pro?
Yes
Also curious about this.
Ive ordered one for exactly the same reason and cant wait to try it
I watched the video and I’m no film geek but I like the Osmo pocket 3. Colors just looked better on my 4K TV.
I am doing Real Estate Photography with the help of Fujifilm XT3. Client want video too can Pocket 3 is Good For beginner like Me ?
I Never done video before also not have gimbal right now.
Please Share Your Answer thanks.
This is pretty Dope man, thanks!
Awesome seeing side-by-side, thanks for taking the time here. 👏👏
So re: distortion, curious if you still see it when camera straight and level? Or verticals just get wonky when tilted?
It actually bowed the entries
oh damn, no bueno then @@OriginaldoBo
Definitely good enough for the realtors in my area
thanks mate!!!! I need 1!!!!! Beautiful job!! bravo
Currently using a Sony a6400 and was thinking of getting this Osmo or either Sony 10-18f4 or sigma 10-18 f2.8 any recommendations?
Neither , if you want to stick APSC look at the ZV E10 2 for 10 bit or go Sony A6700. Having 10 bit is essential for grading purposes
Question for you where did you get your wall sound panels? Do you have an Amazon store link?
I got them in amazon they aren’t cheap but work well. I used glue from Home Depot to install them. amzn.to/3MJqpAj
Noticeable difference but still VERY impressed with the Osmo3.
Your editing is on point by the way. 🔥
How did you get the detail shots? It actually looks like there's lens compression.
There is some separation
Great comparison video. !!!Osmo Pocket 3 has me interested.. I have seen a few other videos on it and the low light night shots looked better that I thought they would.. Always enjoy your content..
Exactly the video I was looking for!
Really enjoyed the video and test. Thank you Ken
Great video. I cannot wait for the files to play around with.
Very late to the party. Don’t suppose there’s any tutorials or anything to try and replicate a video like this with the Osmo?
Thanks!
Think I may grab one. I guess 20mm is decent for the OP3. If I can get a good filter to 14-15mm, I’ll be good.
Would you be able to do a video with the pocket 3 taking real estate photos? Don’t know if the camera can do photos.
You couldn't tell the difference if you didn't know which camera was which. In fact the dji out preformed your Sony. You would have never known which was what.
Hey Ken,
Really appreciated the side-by-side comparison, particularly noting the Sony’s superior dynamic range-those overexposed windows really showed what the Sony can handle.
This was very helpful! Thank you!
Question: if i ask around all the real estate if they need any video could i use my osmo pocket 3? Or they will take me no serious?🙏
you can totally get away with using it
@@OriginaldoBo but i really want to get the so y a6700 as is the only camera cheap that allow me to do photos and videos.. im right?
Great video 🙌 As someone who prefers the convenience of shooting walkthroughs on an iPhone rather than mirrorless camera, this is a very interesting product to me. I wonder what downsides, if any, there might be to using this new DJI over an iPhone 15 on a gimbal.
youd still have to get the footage off a MicroSD card, if that's annoying?
@@screammachineman Aye, a bit. The 20mm focal length is a little tighter than I'd like too.
You are absolutely incorrect.
@@OriginaldoBo judging by what i see on the screen, a brighter footage is more appealing for me for real estate videos. Especially when the house is white
@@WassimJelassithe white and colors aren’t accurate to the house and wood. So no
