Starting out with watching Florian's channel and watching him work has absolutely spoiled me for ceramic content on social media. Besides a handful of other artists, he's above and beyond. I don't think he realizes how truly gifted he is, and what a treasure it is for those of us who are fascinated by ceramics to have him sharing his journey and process with us on a regular basis on social media. (Plus, that doggo!)

Could you perhaps give us a link to the potter who makes the spinner for trimming? That looks so helpful.

"i tend to take more inspiration from metal work." this is interesting. lets face it, a pottery wheel is a vertical lathe, and many of the skills applied on the pottery wheel are applied in machining. most notably feeds and speeds, which is all about the rate your tools move vs the rate the machine turns. you can actually learn a lot about pottery from this, for example, the more pressure/ speed you apply to a cutting tool, the rougher the surface. just the same, the faster the wheel/ machine spin, and the slower/ less pressure applied to the cutting tool, the finer the surface. in machine work you can actually create a mirrored surface via the feeds and speeds, although in pottery you may not want a perfect surface or you may just use a glaze to cover up the imperfections.
