Honey DU, AFTER YOUR HARD DAYS WORK LETS EAT.... MRS. DU SAYS WHAT STINKS? HONEY DU SAYS: ITS MY FINGERS, THERES DONKEY PEANUT BUTTER ON THEM, I FORGOT TO SCRAP THE SHIT OFF MY FINGERNAILS
Yes, the system is that donkeys are sold by weight. These long hoofs weigh 1-3kg and the farrier has to offer his services free, and often argue with the farmers selling the donkeys. If they can walk properly, it gives them a chance to be sold as working donkeys instead of going for meat. At the worst, they get some relief from pain in their finals days. He has only a few minutes to make a difference for each donkey. The hoof itself is made of the same stuff as our fingernails, it feels nothing, the pain for the donkey is the joints and ligaments being forced into unnatural positions. Yes, the way they use their lip to tether them is cruel. But this is the norm there, it is what farmers do. The donkeys have never seen a farrier. He is touching their legs, which are always sore. The donkeys are afraid. He has to keep himself safe and he has to save as many donkeys as possible - he does not have time to argue about traditional methods of restraint.
Get down off your high horse! Have you NO sense of what real poverty is? This man has two tools, three if you include the sharpening stone: and he has probably spent a month’s income just to buy the tree-branch loppers. With these he transforms the life of thousands of donkeys. What lives do YOU transform? The system there inadvertently promotes cruelty. Donkeys like this get sold by weight for meat. Those long hooves can add three kg to the weight. What this farrier does for these donkeys - and he often has to argue with the seller to do it - he takes them from cripples permanently in pain to being able to walk. And now they have a chance to be sold for life rather than butchery. The hoof itself is made of keratin, like our fingernails. It feels nothing. The pain for the donkey is in the joints and ligaments because of the unnatural posture. This means he can get most of the hoof off in seconds. Which means the donkey spends minimum time standing in agony on three deformed hooves. I agree, it is cruel how they restrain them: but this is so normal there that the farmers do it all the time. The donkeys have never seen a farrier. They are afraid. He has a few minutes with each donkey, that is all he has.
Why not? Are you serious?! A reciprocating saw is scarily noisy for a donkey that has never seen a farrier, it makes the whole leg vibrate, it takes ages, plus the saw, sawblades and batteries are insanely expensive for these people. And standing on three deformed hoofs is agony. The tree loppers are MORE EFFECTIVE, QUIETER, CLEANER AND FASTER. And so is the chisel-knife. Western methods are fine if you have an hour or two and a van full of equipment. And an animal that knows what a farrier is. This man is giving these donkeys a shot at life, maybe not being sold for meat.
Why is someone hitting the donkey? Just to make her jump? And why are the ropes around the eyes while you film and do nothing. Terrible neglect from owner but worse from you trying to have ppl watch. Shame on all of you
I wish to see relieved and happy faces of those creatures.
Nice you are the real hero... good job God bless you always ❤
Who ever owned that donkey..should be jailed...that is cruelty..makes you wonder if these people are just cruel..

Prayers for these donkeys. I can’t watch anymore…. This is pure neglect on someone’s part and jailing!!

It isn't used to the trimming so it is scared, you would be too!
Why do you hit the donkey? It makes zero sense, your attack it to do what? The hoof care seems good, but why attack it before the trim?
Because they are assholes
Thats got to be the worst furrier I've ever seen..very cruel..
