    I'd like to see you test the monster VRM on the Taichi at some point. My experience has been mixed and in typical Asrock fashion they still only offer the 3 LLC settings and no other options but it'd be interesting to see how each one behaves.

      7900X here and I have too been happy for 1.5 years now 😊 Took a long time to get cpu stable with as much curve optimiser as possible, but I was just incompent. Can't blame the board for that.

    G'day Buildzoid,
    Along with PCB Breakdowns I am finding these Voltage Analysis videos very interesting.
    After the last video I was thinking about the Coaxial/VRM contamination & was wondering if your testbench has an opening behing the CPU Socket would it be better to solder the wire straight down through the bench rather than across the back motherboard, It would be a bigger pain if you want to store the mobo with coaxial attached but how often would you be doing that rather than removing the coaxial when finished benching. I had all this typed before 3:55 but if that Copper works much easier 😁👍.

    That's a fantastic video ! Really appreciate your effort and time !
    I'm a bit confused though. You said LLC 1-2 if you're doing some "weird undervolting", please correct me if i'm wrong:
    For undervolting, isn't it generally better to set a global negative offset for the entire VID range (ex: -0.070mV), and then a high LLC (ex: LLC 5/6/7 = less Vdroop) to stabilize Vcore under high load, where most crashes will occur ?

    • @bene5431
      @bene5431 3 місяці тому

      With less Vdroop you will get more undershoot, and that's what crashes the CPU. With Vdroop you accept a higher voltage at idle (when it doesn't matter that much for thermals) and because you don't have that much undershoot you can run lower load voltage

  • @tactic00l

    hey buildzoid, you could try triggering off the spike and then using a persistence display mode on the scope to get a good idea of what these transients look like worst case

    Do you by coincidence have already tried memory tuning with 7200mhz ram?
    During my recent swap from am4 to am5 i picked up a kit of 7200mhz cl34 and a 7600x (weird combo the 7600x is just a placeholder while i wait for ryzen 9000x3d) and to my surprise the 7200mhz run without issue...
    Since ryzen really likes memory timing as far as i know i thougth of tightening them up manual, but i am unfamiliar with dram tuning. Tyhpoonburner says its hynix a-die single rank memory 2x16gb :D
    Do you have some values to try out?

  • @skilletpan5674

    I'm a bit disappointed with the x670e series. The lack of pci-e lanes is really annoying. Not having 2 16x pci-e sockets means you can't have a fast home server with some legacy hardware. The x8xxx series boards might fix it but I'll wait and see.

    • @Fighting-Egg
      @Fighting-Egg 4 місяці тому

      the next gen boards don't add anything to PCI-e lanes. In fact, they dont add any value other than USB4 is a "must" now instead of "can"

    • @penguinbelly
      @penguinbelly 2 місяці тому

      PCI lanes originate from CPU itself.

      For it's intended purpose from my perspective it depends how well the 10Gb and 2.5Gb ethernet chipsets work. If they have any reliability or performance issues it doesn't seem worth it. If you mean for OC/XOC then your guess is as good as mine.

    • @JJFX-
      @JJFX- 5 місяців тому +1

      The 10G LAN is the only reason I was going to get it but it wasn't available and Asus has been pissing me off in recent years so I ended up with a deal on a Taichi. There were complaints early on about it and some others but I'd hope most has been ironed out. TB4 can be strange on AMD but surprisingly it actually works on my Taichi.

      I wanted this board for the features, but the reviews are horrible. Lots of issues reported + Asus sending back different faulty boards when RMAing your unit.

    • @skilletpan5674
      @skilletpan5674 5 місяців тому

      If you have the money and want more features then the 800 series boards might be a better option. The 600 series boards don't have many pci-e lanes. Sure they are pci-e 5 but any expansion cards that need x16 are going to have to go in your GPU socket.

      @@skilletpan5674 I think I might just stick with my 5900x until something more enticing comes out. I’m a little disappointed with the 9950x not being the fastest gaming cpu, guess I’ll wait for the X3D version

  • @TarsoSousa

    Would be wrong to think the TUF X670E board are comparable to this ProArt one VRM, LLC and vdroop wise?
    after setting LLC to 5 I was able to stabilize curve optimizer -30 on a 7700X and performance is great, with LLC auto -25 was the limit for stable
    would be nice to also see some rambling about ASUS medium load boost it and how it enables pushing the boost limit to 5750mhz and how to control vcore on that scenario

      Have any products actually been announced? I thought they were all still prototype boards. I think it's a cool idea to implement if the signal integrity is a notable improvement but I'm concerned about having chips on the bottom of the module. Cooling solutions could be great for the top but anything on the bottom concerns me.

    This generation, ASUS suddenly have coil whine issues. Does this board whine, particularly in idle?

    • @ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking
      @ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking  5 місяців тому

      haven't noticed any coil whine with my recent ASUS boards. I have 1 Z790 gigabyte board that coil whines

    • @atirta777
      @atirta777 5 місяців тому

      Gigabyte is definitely the worst with coil whine according to most people. I got TWO B650 DS3H boards IN A ROW that I had to RMA due to loud coil whine. Others still do have this problem but way less in my experience, and it's NOT board-specific FYI.
