- COMPLETE LESSONS AVAILABLE AT www.99centguita.... Explanation of 2-5-1 chords, the most commonly used jazz progression, describing the theory behind them plus where, when and how to use them. It's essential for a jazz guitarist to understand 2-5-1 chord progressions since they are found in almost every jazz song. 2-5-1, sometimes written as ii-v-i, refers to the chord progression made up from the 2nd, 5th and 1st chords in the major scale. Minor 2-5-1 uses the chords from the harmonic minor scale. 3 video lessons demonstrated close up and slowly, with printable PDF chord grids and chart.

Try to learn Jazz Fusion but can't find anything so Im working on jazz... Hate the videos cause they are so long and don't start out simple at all.. Can I get a tab? A rundown of how the chord can be played in various shapes?
With respect: if you want to know jazz you need some music therory and of course read music.
I know there's famous musicians who dont read music. Few and far between with Jazz
Hey, I just dont get the logic, Are you just adding these extetions arbitrarily , or are you starting with a "stock" II-V-I and then adding the extensions in a particulare order?
Great stuff. Rich : )
how you know the next chords ? and if they are minor or major? what theory behind that? thanks
you could try playing the guitar and testing them out, you know. ;)

tres cool
Guys, help! How do I convert the 1-5-6-4 progression into Jazz (chords)? Do you guys know what I mean?
Not sure if this answer is too simple but at it's most basic level: (1)Maj7 - (5)Dom7 - (6)Min7 - (4)Maj7 (Assuming that you wanted a major key) Each of those can be extended (6ths, 9ths, 11ths, 13ths), inverted or altered any different combination of ways depending on what you want to hear. Hope that made sense.
Thank you! Made perfect sense! :)
Hell yeah!
that's the shize, Nigel !
Only Nigel Tufnell can play in the key of J and M.
Is that a European guitar ?
Also is that a Deluxe Reverb? Sounds lovely!!
:) !
If you think youre so good then why cant you play in the key of J or M.
This guy reminds me to Joe Pesci in this scene:
