Sometimes the internet is a wonderful thing! Look at me watching an interview about the beginnings of Shalamar with Howard Hewitt. Together with Jeffrey Daniel and Jody Watley, these were musical gods to me, growing up as a teenager in Cape Coast, Ghana in the '80s. Throw in The Whispers, Midnight Star, Dynasty and Klymaxx etc and I'm in '80s teenage heaven!

I saw 2 Solar Record tour shows and my memory is blank on the 2nd one. But that first show when 2nd Time Around was on the charts? My God! Jeffrey Daniel moonwalked during the breakdown. It was an unbelievably incredible moment.
I'm trying to figure things out because my brother-in-law's my niece father has the nephew who was president of Motown' Kedar Massenburg. And even though he was a little bit younger than me but we grew up together so I'm trying to figure this out.
Its sad that ego & "too many cooks in the kitchen" split a group like Shalamar. It sucks seeing people post & comment on Mr. Hewett vs Ms. Watley, or Ms. Watley vs Shalamar. Her leaving the group etc caused a rift & split the fans. That's never good. I hope today, they can all see that they helped one another succeed in many ways. As confusing as it may be, Shalamar still succeeded bc even though they split, elements of Shalamar were more than sprinkled into their solo successes
