    I was thinking of thinning out the middle, pulling off the small branches and cutting away dead ones, but still letting the top grow out.

    • @PlemonsLawnCare
      @PlemonsLawnCare  Рік тому +1

      Honestly there isn’t really a wrong way. You can just thin the crossing branches out and let it grow

    Well done. I too hate when people chop them, they can be so beautiful if left alone and planted in the right place. I do take off the dead and crossing branches each spring but that is about it. My husband always wants to commit crepe murder so I told him the crepes are off limits for him. I would have liked you to have the camera a bit closer for those trying to fix a murdered tree so see a bit better and maybe show at the end what the knuckles look like when you take off the final pieces you mentioned but overall very good video and I hope people start to understand the right way to maintain these lovely trees.

    I have some crepe myrtles in my yard that I bought and planted, they're not growing at all, it looks like they're stunted. Is there something I can do to help them grow nice and big, it's been about four years since I've planted them. Do you also now anything about azaleas

    • @PlemonsLawnCare
      @PlemonsLawnCare  4 роки тому +1

      What type of crepe myrtles do you have planted? Some are fast growing and some are slow growing. Also if you have suckers growing up from the ground it’s best to keep those cut so they don’t compete for nutrients with the main trunk.

    • @lorettaposey3327
      @lorettaposey3327 4 роки тому

      @@PlemonsLawnCare , they're supposed to be big crepe myrtles but then again I did buy them from Wal-Mart and sometimes they have the wrong tags on them. And thank you for getting back to me with your expertise. When's the best time to cut the suckers off

    • @PlemonsLawnCare

    • @PlemonsLawnCare
      @PlemonsLawnCare  3 роки тому +1

      I prefer the hand pruning saw or loppers to get a clean cut. I try to wait til the end of winter before cutting them back as well to prevent as much water as possible from freezing on the cut portions.
