I have two bins for yarn. One is for yarn I bought for a specific project in mind that I'm waiting to cast on. The other bin is hand-me-downs or thrifted finds that I'm not sure how to use yet. And scraps go in that bin too. It helps me have a limit on how much yarn I'm going to own and also helps me find what I'm looking for.
I've been meaning to go through and organize my stash for so long now, and I feel like your video is giving me the kick in the butt to get it done haha! I had your video playing in the background while I sorted out the one half of my stash that I keep at my parents house, now I have to go through the other half of the stash that I keep stored at my place 😂 I love the idea of uploading everything into Ravelry but it seems like such a daunting task! But it's definitely something I'm striving to have done by the end of the year at least! Thanks for such a fun video today, I recently found your channel through UA-cam recommendations and I'm so glad! Looking forward to more videos 😊
Yay!! Glad my video motivated you 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼 Since I forgot to take pictures of most of the yarn I didn't end up updating Rav ahaha 🙈🙈 Glad you're enjoying my channel!
I definitely have way too much yarn. I put mine in partially netted zip up totes so my yarn can breath. And I organize my yarn by fiber content. 😊 Your yarn is so pretty. 💖
Hello Sylvia, j'ai réorganisé mon smash aussi suite à un gros craquage laineux et j'ai compté mes pelotes ou skeins (110!!!!) et à partir de maintenant je vais faire un countdown pour contrôler tout ça avant le kit eat !
I have maybe a dozen commercial sock yarn skeins left to knit, one sweater quantity, and a cone of yarn that I made a sweater with but there is enough leftover to make at least one more sweater. I keep my hand-dyed fingering weight and commercial sock yarn separated and they will go into respective scrappy blankets. The “leftover” skeins from projects are my nemesis! I don’t know what to do with them!
I feel you on leftover skeins!! Depending on the weight and kind I put them in stripes, small projects like socks/hats/crop tops, scrappy projects or give them away or sell them.
I've been meaning to go through my stash for ages, maybe I will now 😂 I'm glad to know it was quicker than you thought, I'm dreading doing mine 😬 where are you listing your destash?
Hahah I suppose it depends on the size of your stash. I had been wanting to do it and putting it off for quite a while! I feel like I have a lot, but at the same time after dividing and classifying and purging a bit, it doesn't seem like THAT much 🤣🤣 I'll list everything on Le bon coin (French reselling marketplace). Yarn usually sells well on there, especially hand dyed, which tends to sell in minutes ⚡⚡
I tried to add everything to Ravelry and it was easy in the beginning, but than I moved out and everything got out of control XD I still try to remove from stash on Ravelry but the new yarn is not added anymore.... What spindle are you selling, I'm interested in trying out ;)
Hahaha yeah I use the stash that's on there in products but haven't added anything new on over a year 😅 and since I forgot to take pictures of most of my yarn I didn't update Rav 😂🫣 as for the spindle, it's just a basic drop spindle, though I'm planning on selling most if not all of the stuff I sorted out on a French site called Leboncoin since I'm in France, not sure where you're based but it may be a better deal to buy one locally 😊

@@SylviasStuff I’m a fan of giving them away…let someone else find joy with them and make something beautiful.
