ASICS FUJISPEED 2 REVIEW - A SUPERB LIGHT & NIMBLE PLATED TRAIL SHOE - EDDBUD
An initial review of the new ASICS FUJISPEED 2, a brand new version of the light and nimble ASICS trailshoe, with a carbon plate and lots of midsole stack.
A more maximal cushioned shoe with over 40mm of stack in my uk 11 / us 12 makes for a great option for faster trail runs with it being under 300g in my size.
Lots of outsole depth grip and a breathable upper. Could be a super road to trail shoe for the winter too.
This is a shoe that has been sent to me for review but ASICS are not paying me to make this video nor are they viewing it before my valued viewers.
I comment on the upper, midsole and outsole after my initial runs.

Copped this pair today, and man, I was floored soon as I slipped ‘em on in the store. Got lucky and snagged ‘em on sale ‘cause of the national holidays here in Vietnam. Soon as I got home, I’m like, let’s see what Master Ed’s gotta say ‘bout these kicks. Honestly, 90 bucks for these? That’s a steal. Shoutout from Saigon, Midsole Man 👞 🎉

No surprise they released it now, with UTMB one month away. I think this just puts the final nail in the coffin for Nike Ultrafly at a price of £230 and the Asics Fujispeed 2 at £160 just hammers that nail in with a Sledgehammer.

i know, i am genuinely surprised that for the moment none of the trail tubers have mentioned it yet. However I get the feeling most of them are pre occupied themselves for UTMB most I think have already decided what they are running in though I would not be surprised if anyone picks these up in a potential drop bag.

Got a pair of these and they have the same stability as the Nike Vaporfly. Rolled my ankle during my first race with them which is never a good thing. They would be good on hard packed gravel trails but not on technical uneven trails, you have focus on where you land your foot 100% of the time.

Just picked these up for £140. Actually really surprised at how enjoyable and fast they are. Only got one run so far but it was in muddy conditions on a wooded route and very impressed with the grip. They gave me confidence straight away going up and downhill. Going to be my go to shoe over the winter months with maybe an xc race chucked in if conditions allow.

This is a shoe "one of his kind". I've decided to buy two pair of shoes, cushioned and less cushioned, I never owned a carbon plate shoe.
New Balance 880 for cushion, this one for off-road speed when needed - and it rocks. Fuji Speed 2 now a contender for #1 trail shoe.

Edd, something to consider. The high stack height on a trail shoe for me personally was a recipe for disaster. Tripped on every rock, stump, root on the trail. Moved to lower stack shoe, 28mm with a rock plate and presto, no more tripping. Just my two cents. Love the channel!

Picked up both the previous versions of the Fuji Lite (v3) and Fuji Speed (v1) a couple of months back on super-heavy discount as both had new versions coming out. When the new Lite came out (v4) I jumped at getting them (orange!!) but was massively unimpressed. 10% weight gain (30g), couldn't feel the newer FF foam being any real softer or bouncier than the older generation FF in the old shoe, plus the newer midsole/foam made an AWFUL and very annoying squeaking noise when it got damp/wet - it just felt an all-round worse shoe so I sent them back! This has put me off trying the new v2 Speeds to be honest, even with the buy-try-return policy of ASICS :/

Fantatsic shoe. Furthest ive taken it is 20 miles. Fairly firm ride but very responsive. Its a shorter race shoe, the trabucco max 2 is fantatsic for the long races. The fujilite 4 is cheaper and lighter and probably more of an all rounder but i havent ran enough in those yet.
Other than the name of the foam the fujispeed is nothing like the novablast so im a bit unsure why he keeps talking about it. Completely different shoe, ride, tongue, fit, outsole midsole. Completely different. The asicsgrip is great on trail and wears quite quickly on the roads. There are some good reviews out there from legit trail runners.

@@jootjejoop it's a good shoe but it's not a long distance shoe. 5k to half marathon is probably it's best. I took it to 200 miles in hope that it would soften up and then I could use it for 50ks etc but the plate is just so rigid it never softened. Anything over 20 and my legs and feet were in bits. Tecton x 2 is better if you want a plated shoe. I actually managed a 50k in these. I gave up on plated shoes, feel like they work against you and feel rubbish on trails (for me anyway) I always opt for my saucony xodus ultra now.
