Finished rebuilding a Johnson Viking Valiant in September of 2023, all works well, only one tube tested bad, all five 6146 tested strong on Hickok 539C. Got front panel to True Value Hardware for paint match, then touched up upper two corners, paint was a perfect match. Chuck W9KR

Great video. I just got my Ham Radio tech license about a month ago and I just got my Heathkit Dx35 the other day. I appreciate what you do for all of us when you do these vids, thanks. :) Now I gotta crack out my soldering iron and restore my Dx35.

That's a beautiful radio. I can't wait to see what it looks like when you get it all cleaned up and ready for operation.

My brother still has his Johnson Viking Valiant still works great after all of these years I still have an old Heathkit Dx60 with VFO i used to run when I was a ham 40 years ago. I restoreand collect Amateur radio receivers now and old radios. Looks like that Ranger is just as bullet proof as the valiant is great video.

I have a 1957 Johnson OBM 35hp (on my boat), great rig! lol
The carb needs a good cleaning, clogged. Rebuilding a Johnson carb is like rebuilding a vfo. hmmm, maybe I should get an old Johnson rig for my boat mobile. I do have an Apelco marine radio featured in my latest Hodge Podge 26, Also have 2m, but no hf.Ya know Terry, imagine field day on a boat, fishing for hams and perch? A sailboat has that niiiiiice mast. Marine mobile sounds funnage. Don

You have inspired me! So, I just picked up a Ranger which seems to be in good shape. I'm also working on a National NC183D that I got from the same person. So, now I just need to get going on my technician license and get to know my local hams. I believe that will opens up part of the 10 meter AM band to me? I can then work my way forward from there. Hopefully I'll be able to fire up the Ranger and be on the air before too long!

Terry, got a drake t4 with a hayseed replacement electrolytic multi cap. My weller 140 won't even touch this as far as melting the connection on the chassis. Any recommendations? I think I remember you grinding the connection off with a dremel or something of sorts? Bryan

Find an old Ungar iron. I have featured one in several videos to demo removal of can type filter caps. They make childs play out of the task. TD

Nice stuff Terry. That gear is rock solid and you proved it... Awesome. Hope you are well and hope the new job is good. What kind of speaker do you use with that set ? How many ohms ? Thanks Ron

No speaker, Ron. It's a transmitter only.

Ah, I missed that part. Makes sense - that is why there is a way to see the GRID and PLATE voltage..makes sense. thanks, Ron

Remember, if your resurrection lasts more than 4 hours, see your doctor....
