    You inspired me to go on a mini braid journey, I even made a video about it. Started my mini braid challenge in January, I'm on my 3rd set of braids now, due to be taken down in September. I'm dedicated now because I've seen the results and let me tell you MY HAIR HAS GROOOWN! I thought I'd get to armpit length at the end of the year but I'm sure when I take my current braids out in September I might even be past armpit. They're THAT effective ❤️❤️❤️

    Thank you so much for being one of my main motivations in trying mini braids💖I just finished installing my 4th round of mini braids this past Sunday. I plan on leaving them in for about 3.5 months. The longest I’ve left them in for is 6 months (redid the front perimeter once or twice). I swear by mini braids. It’s the only protective style that have resulted in significant amount of length retention and health. All while still having direct access to my hair for daily maintenance. I also love the convenience of them.
    I tried mini twists last year, which actually looked fuller and beautiful, but didn’t last as long. It resulted in some locking and damage (never again). Mini twists for me will only be for short term (1 month max).
    I took about a year break from mini braids due to pure laziness. After some set backs, I’ve decided to go back to what works for my hair by keeping it simple - diy concoctions and mini braids.
    I love seeing your mini braid journey. Very inspiring. I was so amazed at the volume and growth of my recent installment compared to my previous ones. I’m excited for both of us. My goal is to stay consistent for a year. Good luck to you. Happy growing via mini braids👩🏾‍🦱😊

    Wow that's amazing. I just took my mini braids out to rewash and decided I want to keep my hair in that style until I reach my length goals. Them just wear a wig when I want to dress up or have a different look. But pretty much 100% of the time keep them in braids (besides wash day). I don't like ilbraids with fake hair anymore because it's too itchy and rips out or thins out my edges every time. And it hurts the firet few days when someone does it. But I don't have that problem with mini braids on my real hair. Can't do natural twists either because they get too frizzy fast and start to semi lock up after a while. Now that I've found your channel recently and after seeing this video, I am very convinced. That is a lot of growth for 3 years. Thanks!

      I like that she has a really simple hair routine. She uses things like water, olive oil and aloevera for moisture.

    I have been doing mostly mini twists. They last but I don't like the loc look and I have to untwist them after washing to prevent locing . I'm irritated with twists. They are easy and irritating
    I will do mini braids next.

    I get it is a good protective style but if I'm doing all of that I would rather get sister locs or dread locs. Save me the hassle of having to take those tiny plaits out and redoing them.

    It's not the mini braids. It's the low manipulation that grew your hair. Removing these though may result in a lot of shedding.

    • @WilliamsPinch
      @WilliamsPinch 4 роки тому +8

      Not just the low manipulation, but being able to moisturize, cleanse and care for her hair while not manipulating. This is why people swear by mini twists and braids over other “protective styles”.

    Maybe I braid incorrectly. .. I know I have a different texture (4C)... but my braids knot up on the ends and the takedown...my ends don't simply unravel . What am I doing wrong? Twirling my ends makes them loc up and I experience breakage at the ends on the takedown. Help please! Thank you.

      I don't think you are missing anything, my hair is the same. Just try larger strand twists. I make mine medium sized. And using a thick oil at the ends during installation might help. I use hair grease. To each her own.

    • @meala_grant
      @meala_grant 5 років тому +2

      I twist the ends tight and I stretch my mini braids in bigger braids before I take them down. I will use oil on the ends for the take down too.
