Thanks for sharing your injury. I have been riding Harleys since I was 17 and I am 67 and ride 22 FXLRST. Seat Choice is a must. Not to mention the stress of getting in miles dealing with bad weather etc. Being older means being smarter, ride safe and know your limitations.
I had the road sofa and had for well over break in miles and never could get comfortable. I switched to lepera and couldn’t be happier. Crazy how one person can find comfort and the next not so much
I believe style definitely plays a role in choosing a seat. Both seats are high quality. The saddleman seat looks great on your lowrider. I ride a Heritage softail and the mustang fits the style better . Keep riding!
Im 61 yrs old now. Achs and pain are more frequent now. I have pulled my hamstring twice in the last 6 months. The last time was 500 miles from home riding two up with my wife. I could not bend over and pick up a box of shoes. I did not freak out because this had also happened 6 months earlier. So I knew with time I would be ok. The problem is im 500 miles from home on my bike. I laid up in the hotel for a couple of days and my wife took an Uber to Walmart got me a couple of stretchy wraps. Wrapped my thigh and took some Tylenol and road home. I just hoped I did not hit any stop and go traffic. So I rode another 100 miles out of my way to avoid it. Also I was not in pain like you get when you have a pinched nerve. I was lucky. As we get older more pain is coming. Just do the best you can.
@@HOLYSHIFT Being on a motorcycle made my situation worse. If I were in a car my wife could have driven. On a bike we were stranded with a bike which is worse than the wife and I being stranded. We could have just called an Uber and went to the airport. The way I pulled my hamstring is I was backing up my bike into a parking space at the hotel. The space had a decline to it. I let the bike to pick up a little to much speed. I was in a hurry. I tapped the brake to slow it down and the heavy ass 2021 RGL started to lean. I went to pull it upright like I normally do and I pulled my hamstring and down she went. I was very lucky it happened at the hotel. I lifted weights for years and never pulled a muscle until 5 months prior to this doing light squats. We are not the young Bucks we once were.
Great job with the garage organizing. Be careful with your back because lower back pain and sciatica is no joke especially when the pain shoots down your leg. It can happen at anytime and even a sneeze or wrong move when brushing your teeth can set off back pain. Do some back strengthening exercises to help stop it from returning. Don't keep anything in your back pockets, a wallet is one reason for back screw ups and good seating is key.
That’s awesome. Sometimes life throws you a treat. 😉👍 I was once flying a Cessna in NJ and saw NYC and Philly at the same time. That was pretty bizarre to me.
Hi 👋, Not sure if you’ve heard but there’s been a recall on 60 odd thousand Harley Davison’s do with the Bolt that holds on the suspension shock absorbers, , 2018-2023 , , Phil from the moulin.
@@HOLYSHIFT Hi 👋, I had heard that if bolt fault snaps the tire goes up into the underside of the fender not guitar, 😂, and can cause accident first tire et cetera very serious, stay safe, glad to hear your sciatic nerve is now a lot better, very painful 😓, Phil from the moulin
Thanks for the information on the seats. Most of the other websites all try to sell you something. But you tell it like it is and you are more down to earth on the information. Thanks! Michigan!
The Step-up is by far the best seat I’ve ever used. I’ve had it on three different sportsters and a Low Rider S. When I get a new bike before next riding season, I’ll put a step-up on it.
Riding different motorcycles, if ur back hurts just go to the chiropractor, get an adjustment and ur good to go. I also use a saddlemen tour step up seat (wider for passenger) , step up looks the best and comfortable. good choice 🔥
Love the look of both seats. I too have back issues and am currently riding on a Saddleman w/backrest. Works great. Looks like your shop got a little smaller but it looks great. Thanks for sharing.
I suffer from lower back pain, and my biggest concern was the seat. I have a 2020 street bob, and the original seat was horrible on my back. So i did the same thing you did search all over the internet. I saw the mustang seat and was like this would be great but i was like the look not so great. Final went with the saddlemen seat step up and its been great on my back. I do alot of riding in jersey from clifton to south jersey so the parkway traffic be crazy at times but have to say my ass and back would be in good condition lol.
I recently had a sciatica nerve attack and crippled me for a month or so. This was not caused by my lowrider ST. I hated the standard seat and purchased the same seat you now have. I found that seat raised my up about 1.5 inches and closer to my standard bars about 1". My bars are still a little to far forward and plan to go with a 6inch rise with as two inch pull back to see if that improves my seating position better than it is now. You don't know pain like a sciatic nerve attack...
And shift the same thing happen to my feet when I bought a pair of red wing boots and the salesman told me to wear then a few hours a day but not me and boy my feet was turned up but now they are made for my feetssss😂hope you are doing well and back to normal
I don't have garage but our bikes are similar with '03 Dyna FXDX an 88' GL1500 GW. When you talk about back pain an needing wide support, my first thought was my mustang seat. Then you made me laugh because I was looking too saddleman seats.
Well they are both great looking seats but if I had to pick one for looks only it would the Mustang solo without back rest. I like the solo saddle look. Sandy what a great video! Thanks
I like the cocept of the mustang for long touring trips for around town saddleman!! Good stuff brother!! Garage looks great wish I had one instead of barn!!
That is cool that you can have to sun rises and a sun set like that! I have had a Mustang seat I thought after a couple hours it felt like you was riding a old hard tail chopper! Thanks for all you post stay safe
I like the Saddlemen better. When are you going for the left seat o the 777? Retired FAA AIR TRAFFIC MANAGER AT KEWR. 29 years at KEWR. Rode my 2017 Indian Springfield today with my Saddlemen Road Sofa. Still breaking in with about 600 miles on it. So far love the seat.😊

Always loved the mustang seat, but they are to wide for me on my road glide. So I had the tuck and roll now have the road sofa becuase I ride 2 up a lot. But definitely loved the step up just want to put the miles on the road sofa. Maybe I will get the new step up with the wider passenger seat at some point
Sandy, I put a Saddlemen Explorer on my Heritage. Fantastic seat. No back issues at all, my legs do not get tired or cramped. No need for a backrest because the seat design includes lower back suppport. Glad you tried Saddlemen and like it. BTW, how was your back during your trek through the mountains?
I know a lot of seats either move you closer to the bike, or raise you up a little. Me being 5’11 forward controls are a must. Around town on the ST with mids are okay. I currently have a aftermarket set of controls on the way, but have been trying to find information on how people are still liking their aftermarket seats while rocking forward controls.
