The first half is the history between two players, and the second half (start 14:53) is the story behind their matches at Kemonomichi and Topanga Championship. This is the first time that I made this kind of video, it's an interesting story that I want to tell and I want to make this easy to watch even for people who don't know fgc. Great to see you branching out like this! My take on Tokido is this: Tokido's far higher talent and abilities were often undone by his weak mentality. I think I still remember something Snake Eyez once said. He was asked about Tokido and his antics like doing the Gouki ultra poses and the murderface and hamming it up for the camera and such, but I think Snake Eyez mentioned that he felt Tokido was very nervous and insecure and was trying to compensate for that by acting tough. I believe that after the practice beating from Daigo before the Infil match he started to reinvent himself. Focused hard on sports and mental/physical fitness. But by the time it was starting to show results it was already late in SFIV's lifespan (Those 2 sets against Fuudo at Canada Cup 2015 were probably his best performances in all of SFIV and some of the best SFIV matches of all time.) It really started to pay off in SFV though. He's basically been consistently in the top 2/top 3 for all of SFV's lifespan. With long stretches of being the outright #1 as well. From seeing him come to the USA all those years ago to beat people up in Third Strike and all sorts of other games while he was at it to the heights he has reached today, his career has truly been a fascinating thing to watch.
This is my favorite Rivalry, normally in the FGC, rivals tend to hate each other or talk trash on each other.....not on this one.....Tokido idolize Daigo and Daigo see Tokido as the future, both players have incredible respect for each other and each other help themselves to be better and better... I cant wait to the next time Daigo and Tokido face each other in other long set. Thanks for share this amazing story and make this incredible video.

Honestly, this was one of the best documentaries about FGs I have watched. The build-up, the technical explanations, the flow... I just couldn't stop watching it. Tokido's arc was great. I hope we will see Daigo in great shape again! HiFight, kudos to you, this video was just amazing!

Daigo's seeming superpowers came merely from the fact that he was better prepared than everyone else in the old days. Like many icons he just showed the world the true devotion and attention to detail you need if you want to be ahead of all others.
My favorite part aside from the story telling and video examples used is the analysis and explanation part of the high level techniques used by each player (Diago and Tokido) in their matches... This was truly an amazing informative, well put together video friend. As another video creator, I can really appreciate your hard work put into this video and time consuming editing on the frame by frame analysis + explanation. Thank you for sharing the story which you appreciated and felt the desire to help us learn and appreciate this story as well. Painting their rivalry the way you did was an amazing feat. and I have grown to admire Tokido's respect for Diago. (Since Diago truly did help pave the way for future fighting games era.) It is like a student that can practice and learn on an already established path only due to the the trials and hardships the teacher had to go through to create the path. It's the reason why I can see why Tokido respects Diago so much as well as Diago's love for fighting games. Amazing story HiFight, thanks for sharing!

Man Daigo, he's the same age as me... i used to go arcades since i was 7 years old... grew up to my 20s on it before going on consoles went up very high but i always knew he was the real challenge, when the media stream of e-sports and things started to boom i never cared i only wanted to see the beast, sadly i never was at his level nor i will be, but for me a man who lived at his height is enough to know someone got it, it's like "Tenkai" almost philosophical that not many people understand, or like seeing the real life hajime no ippo going into brawling stance against Sendo. The humility of existence at the top embodied. Daigo even said to Tokido "You already beat me at everything outside the game" , it was like seeing Kenshiro from Fist of the North star facing Raoh. Thanks for all the matches Daigo, Hopefully my sons fall into your footsteps.

Really nice compilation! I'm surprised you went straight to Topanga League 2020 after Kemonomichi 2, because there were also some interesting tournament matches between the two that (usually, if my memory doesn't fail me) Tokito won. There was lots of speculation about the difference between FT2 / FT3 and longer sets like in Kemonomichi and Topanga league. Really great though, and having this around for historical reasons is awesome!

Daigo has a mystical presence around him. He plays & looks like he could not care less if he losses, but I have a feeling when he locked in and motivated he is unbeatable. Tokido, on the other hand, is like a dedicated hard worker, if you relax with him he will punish you.
the beast certainly isn't unbeatable, but he still holds the Guinness world record as the most successful player in major Street Fighter tournament history. it's almost impossible to surpass his legacy which was cemented by evo moment 37, the single most awesome moment in the entire fighting game history.

Daigo was champion of Vampire Savior 1 year before Zero 3... And everybody knows thank TOkido because Gouki is the god tier, with the last update he become so strong and guile become weak...
At first, I didn’t like Tokido very much. He always had that cocky energy and his annoying smirk. But my opinion changed,after I saw him cry when he lost to Umehara in 2018. He promised to work very hard for “2 whole years!” To comeback and win the championship. A new respect for you Tokido...This just proves that a loser is a loser only when he chooses to give up and quit. This was an awesome video. 👍🏼
I remember this match, Daigo dominated the game because he has the bigger jug of water than Tokido and Tokido couldn't keep up cause he was dehydrated halfway the match.
in the end, Daigo was focused on getting the most from one strong game mechanic & Tokido outplayed him through preparation & practice, thrown offbalance Daigo made mistakes while Tokido took game winning opportunities. It's like role reversal from long ago. Though this is not the end.
NO ONE can dispute Daigo's record of achievement and his contributions to the FGC. However, just like in any pro sports league, he's well past his prime, and the next generation of fighters have already established themselves ahead of him in SF's latest iterations....
