    What a breath of fresh air! Great to see someone keeping it simply! Keep shooting the way you are and don’t let people influence the way you shoot. Remember that’s it’s your photography and your style. It will evolve over time but keep that same energy and commitment and your bound to flourish even further. Well done. All the best. 👍

    This is very inspiring because I always feel I need to completely master the technical side of photography. But I often tune out and find it boring which hurts my creativity. Great video! Hope to see more like this

    Beautiful work and an entertaining interview. Not surprising she is inspired by the 70’s since one of the key themes of that era was ageism, and she is pretty clearly in that camp. But I’m just ‘some old guy’ so what do I know. 😉

    She’s crazy talented and inspiring but I can’t connect with her work. As I POC I don’t see myself in her style or influences. I think it’s important that artists push themselves and influences outside their norms to avoid making segregative art. Because art is important and the world is filled with enough art that segregates me.

    • @pushingfilm
      @pushingfilm  4 роки тому +3

      Hey. I absolutely agree with what you said about segregation. By the same token I think POC can just as equally fit within this style/aesthetic, especially having been integral in the shaping of that era's mainstream art, media and fashion.

      Heya! I'm so sorry that my work makes you feel that way. I guarantee that I'm always considering the best way to be as inclusive as possible and a lot of my work is much more varied than what is represented here- unfortunately I couldn't include everything. That said I also feel my role as a creative is to share my personal story and experiences, and to try and tell other people's stories for them in my work just doesn't sit well with me - it's not my story to tell. Hope you can understand and thank you so much for sharing your thoughts!

      @@emjensen7583 I honestly didn't expect a reply and it's much appreciated! As I said, I think you're crazy talented and there's something nostalgic about the way you use colour. I'm jealous!
      I totally agree that you should speak your truth. My opinion is solely based on what I saw in the video.
      A lot of unfair and false stereotypes have been propagandaed into human psyche through art, art that we still reference and still celebrate today. Art that I am forced to reference and celebrate.
      I can count on one hand the amount of times that I've not been followed around a shop by a member of staff pretending to stock shelves etc. Every time it happens, I get annoyed at myself for letting it affect me as much as it does. This stranger looked at me and refused to see me. Instead they saw an images of me that was false and treated me like that was my truth.
      If more artist just showed people that looked like me as normal, as beautiful, as human, I don't think that it will happen anymore.
      I'm sorry for the long reply or to lay all this at your doorstep. I guess what I'm saying in far too many words is; when I look at art as beautiful and inspiring as yours and I don't see me, it makes me sad because I know that those people that stereotype me on daily basis won't see me either and I just want to be visible.

    • @emjensen7583
      @emjensen7583 4 роки тому +2

      @@Ibibiogal I'm so sorry you've experienced this! You're totally right and I'll definitely make an effort to be more inclusive when possible in future so everyone has representation in my work, and feels like they are visible. Thanks again for sharing your experiences!
