Head Space: Es Devlin at TEDxYouth@Manchester 2012

Es Devlin is a multi award winning international stage designer whose work crosses a wide range of genres including drama, dance, opera and pop. Es has created stage designs for Kanye West and Jay Z's Watch the Throne Tour, Berlioz's epic opera 'Les Troyens' at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden and the Closing Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games. Other adventures have included tours for Lady Gaga, MUSE, the Pet Shop Boys and Take That; operas at La Scala, Barcelona and Vienna; and drama for the Royal Shakespeare Company, National Theatre and Theatre de Complicite. Es works from her studio in London with a small team of associates who, like her, are used to modulating between the worlds of opera, rap, drama and pop. She was awarded TPi Stage Designer of the Years 2010, 2011 and 2012, the Olivier Award in 2006 and RED Creative Woman of the Year 2011.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
