  • Got an electric scooter to shorten my commute time. Feel the vibe of riding it in NYC during rush hours. Sep 2019.

quite a relaxing watch... you're very lucky to have so many bike lanes

this was informative, but damn it's scary to me LOOL. i hope we slowly see fewer and fewer cars, and more eco friendly, accessible forms of transportation. when i went to japan to visit, there was a decent amount of traffic but just sooo many people on bikes, walking, the T.

Wouldnt recommend what this guy is doing, riding a cheap scooter that is. The acceleration and top speed genuinely have me a bit concerned when there isn't a bike path even though he can mostly keep pace with NYC traffic.
Coming from someone who quit their job to deliver food on an e-bike in traffic in Seattle for a whole summer, I can tell you these personal electric vehicles are an absolute blast and I'm confident they can be a life-changer for a lot of people in the next decade. For me, my new scooter will likely have more total mileage at the end of the year than my car. For anybody living deep in a city, "Personal Electric Vehicles" could very likely replace the necessity to own a car. Why buy a $10,000+ car, pay for insurance every month forever, stress about finding/paying for parking every time you leave for a trip, AND pay for parking at your apartment? Instead, $2000 upfront for a GREAT scooter, something you won't want to replace in 6 months, and another $500 for appropriate gear would be a fantastic cost-cutting option to safely and quickly travel locally. Ownership of these PEV's will be much more popular than the crappy rental Lime scooters, that's for sure.
Of course, everyone's needs from a PersonalEV are different. Live in Anytown, USA? Yea, you probably just need a car. Want a scooter just to ride the bike paths off the road? Doesn't cost much to get into. Want a scooter that can ride on the street, owning (not sharing) a lane with other cars? Either pay big on your PEV & personal protective equipment or pay big on the next hospital visit. It's that simple.

pedestrians on scooters are still pedestrians just on small mobile platforms , and don't people in cars become more dangerous as soon as they start to move, and they also take up loads more space and pollute the air, and how many people get killed in car accidents when traveling on E scooters?, and they say the scooters are dangerous , well yes if you get hit by a car or truck they are, so it stands to reason that the car is still more dangerous than a scooter , so using that logic should we not ban cars and give the towns and city's up to cleaner E vehicles and micro transport . just saying .

I hate seeing scooter drivers/riders disobey traffic laws. I can see why we get a bad name and hate from others.

Hah, I thought the sound of the motor sounded familiar. Caught I glimpse of your scooter. Your a Glion rider also!
I love that thing on a crowded subway train. It has a great foot print. Especially standing upright.

Hello! I'm actually thinking of purchasing a scooter and my commute would also start at Penn Station! Your video gave me a sense of how long my commute would take and it's 5 mins on the scooter vs 23 minute walk! Possible if you can provide what scooter brand you have or any info on it? This is a game changer! Thank you!

did anyone notice when the car cut him off and then sped away just for the scooter to catch up and then leave him far behind the red light? 😂

I just purchased my electric scooter and was wondering what it would be like riding in New York City. From what I see here? Terrifying! I’ll stay in Jersey until I get more experience. Great video. Please stay safe.

I thought my commute down Metropolitan ave in Queens was dangerous. I was doing it on a Glion Dolly for 2 months...ugh that was rough. But i just got the Emove Touring....alot better ride. The buses can't cut me off anymore and the hills don't take forever. And being able to keep up with traffic is huge.

Uh the buses can still cut you off. Scooter models don’t make a difference for traffic safety. Just stop being a dope and learn how to take the trails and backroads.

In the early 10's federal legislation branded them mobility devices. Think of it as an electric wheelchair.
This guy must respect and follow all pedestrian and cyclist laws though. He was not the only offender in this video, but publishing his own traffic offenses is not wise.
