NOTE TO MAKE ABOUT THIS GUIDE: Since Conq and Lawbringer got I-frames on their respective dodge bashes, none of the offensive stance orange softfeints catch their dodge attacks anymore.
That is correct. However it guarantees 1 less damage than a defensive side heavy. But it does have 1 specific use and that is to set up ganks from the pin.
Just recently picked up hl after his rework a few months ago.mind you I’m playing on 240hz. Took him to rep 24. Fell in love w his play style. High skill ceiling. If you have really good neutral game, and can utilize his guard tech 4 light parries. Hl is a monster.
Damn this is one of the best guide video I've ever seen from the community of for honor. Keep it up with the good work man Edit: Ps. I saw a video from slanderous where he showed that you are able to fast flow from the placing of a bear trap to offensive stance. If you catch an opponent unprepared with the front dodge grab after the placing of the bear trap you can throw him in the trap dealing tons of damage. Doesn't always work but is so much fun to land
Great vid! Thank you for that! Recently got back to For Honor, played it for a few months in n 2018 😅 trying to figure out the “new” highlander.. anyway u got another sub! Cheers!
It was a little hard to hear with the music around 18:20ish for me. But otherwise this was an amazing guide, thanks a ton! Good music choice all around as well.
Hey brother the one thing I can’t do is the soft faint. How do I do the soft faint where he goes to do a top heavy then he weaves. I cannot land that to save my life.
After feinting an attack, hold heavy to go into offensive stance, and then pretty much as you go into offensive stance, dodge to cancel the slow entry. Hope this helps.
Wavedashing is much slower than it used to be. It technically still works but is nowhere near as strong as it used to be. In the past you could use it to weave between chain offence until they were vulnerable enough to eat a kick. Also you could use it to dodge multiple options of a variably timed mixup such as warden's shoulder bash. However it was very difficult to pull off successfully, needing many hard reads and risking being put on the back foot.
He meant as in judging on react if it's going to be a feint or not. There are some insane people out there that can react to the white light flash on the parry timing, but the kick animation can't be easily seen unlike an unblockable lawbringer top heavy, which you could just look at the animation and react.
@@gustavocoelho1933 @slippy7004 exactly. Parry flash is reactable to some people (anyone with a sub 166ms reaction time) but feintable bashes arent due to the lack of distinct visual indicator, which is why feintable bashes are so strong. Not just on Highlander, but think about Jorm, or Shaolin or Tiandi.
That's just a problem with Highlander right now. With his lack of opener, you kind of have to make some sort of defensive read to get into offensive stance, or do it from a distance.
Btw all the emote techs and the weird dash is only possible to parry by reads unless im doing the weird dash wrong im using xbox so maybe thats why but you can only parry the lights by reads you have to know whats going towards you can't just use it when you see the light because it won't work
I dont think i fully understand this comment. Offensive lights are uncreactable, yes, but weird dash isnt a tech you use to attack. Its a niche way to somewhat bring back old wavedash cancels to get quicker parries on forward doge.

No one really makes in depth guides anymore this will do! Make more olease
I'd be glad to, but there aren't any other heroes i really understand like Highlander.
Maybe given time I could do a Nobushi or Kensei Guide.
Been playing Centurion for awhile and I decided to try my hand at Highlander so this was quite informative.
Happy to hear it!
Highlander is just one of those heroes that you need to know well to make work, in my opinion.
@@soulofcinder517 I've forgotten offensive stance exists so many times already.. Other than that, i've been having a blast!
I remember hearing that you can get a guaranteed caber toss off of a light parry. It’s not useful, but it’s very funny
That is correct. However it guarantees 1 less damage than a defensive side heavy. But it does have 1 specific use and that is to set up ganks from the pin.
You could also ledge with it no?
It is useful actually, do it against someone with revenge and make them seethe

Thanks for vid man
When in offensive if you get guard broke can you break back?
No. Its like most other stances in that regard.
Cool guide! Can you tell more about wavedashing? Is still working?
