Terrific! In Britain the army is loved and admired whereas in Germany soldiers are hated. My son has been a peacekeeping soldier. Lucky Brits, lucky Scots!

@@sararockafella The only Bathgate I'm aware of is this one in semi-rural Central Scotland. For many years it was the main town in this county. Semi-rural location but with a strong, industrial history. A few boom-and-bust times financially. Generally it has suffered economically and has never really been able to sustain strong economic growth. There has been a significant boom in private homes development in the past couple of decades - much of it on redeveloped former industrial land. The town supports a very successful Pipe Band called Boghall & Bathgate Pipe Band - plenty videos on YT.

@@macs7641 cool thanks. Before our tree was done I searched back to my greatgrandads and great grandmother. Then I went back 5 yrs later it was all blocked. But different search engines in different parts of the world don't have same info. I could find near to nothing in Bathgate. It just kept coming up as Bath. Thank you you have given me the most info I ever got on it. I tried to find it on a map but search engines are only as good as the being whoes punched the info in. I was looking in the wrong area by far!!!.

@Bluepurgatory1 You are talking bullshit . I spent many years taking my Son and later my Daughter to band practise . Both were side drummers and eventually played lead. My son playing with the top band in Austral Asia . Winning the Austral Asian Championship in 1982 in the process beating the top 5 New Zealand Pipe Bands , Our main opponent on the day was City of Wellington, they beat our pipers by one point but our drummers beat them by 7 points and therefore won on aggregate The year after two old men who held leading positions in the band were making moves to take the band from Grade 1 to Grade 2. as both could not maintain grade 1 standard The Drum Sgt resigned in disgust at their cunning politics They then offered my Son a trip to Scotland to play with a top band there ,when he enquired how long he would be expected to stay and was told 3 -4 Months he laughed at them and told them that what they offered was a bribe and would in no way give him time to learn anything of benefit to his drumming . While he was in the mood he told the main conspirators what he thought of them at a band officers meeting he then resigned Despite many offers to play with other bands he did not play again until he went to London about 6-7 years ago , as he lived close to where London Scottish Regiment practised he went too see them play , got the bug again , and picked up the sticks and was soon playing lead there He is now back home and not playing again , So after all the nights I spent listening to Bands practise , and play in competition , although I never played I can still recognise a top band as soon as I hear them play . I still say that bass drummer had a club in each hand

My great grandad was a Ramsay. Direct descendant of alll the Kings of if Scotland. This is my mother's name I'm using. Mines pure Gael. My dad was in the King's own Scottish boarders directly after serving in the merchant marines after ww2. He served in Palestine. His Mother was a royal stuart his dad a Irish Royal. My granny was born 1899. Her maiden name was Ramsay. Her hubby my grandad whoes surname I still carry was born 1881. Our tree goes back to beginning of time. I'm not pretending to be a true Scotsman, im just saying your claims to Scottish heritage are totally meaningless. Call yourself Scottish if you like, but you are no more Scottish, than I am whatever nationality you are.
Seriously tenuous links dont make you something you arent.
