1. Choose technique that suits you on hand and feet. 2. Sit on your drumset and start practising the techniques in slow motion. 3. Play with metronome. 4. Be patient. Dont try to play just as fast as possible, try to execute the technique perfectly. 5. Practise a lot every day. Btw. it takes years to become really good so dont give up! And if your left foot or hand is weaker than your right - practise more with your left side... And most important: Have fun playing!
@@nocturnal6129 you don't disrespect one of the finest drum teachers on yt like that lmao and also his technique is unique and very impressive, you can learn a lot from him.
You can teach someone all you want. It's up to that individual how they play. Everyone is different and they will play how they feel comfortable. Fast double bass can be achieved by all methods. Even the one's you never thought of. It's all subjective. You do you and be the best you. Don't listen to someone say it's right or wrong. Your body will tell you what's right or wrong. He might have issues with knees you may not. Everyone is different. Don't conform. That's how metal was started. That's how unique players exist. By not listening and saying "I can do better"
I think if you play long enough and keep trying to play faster you will naturally adjust your foot technique to something similar to this. I eventually found myself lowering my heels to the floor more and more. It almost like playing heel down, but my heel is not locked down.
Kollias says in the video right above that this ankle movement can fuck up your knee because of the unnatural movement it creates to the bone/muscle structure, so i bet you may feel less tired during playing but you might also feel pain after playing.
muchos tipos filman el doble pedal como que el secreto está en el aparato y el secreto está en la técnica de los pies filmadoooooor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My problem is to play softer beats. Like I would like to play Ensiferum's Little Dreamer, but I can't play the double bass parts. I don't wanna be a super fast player. Just play the music I like.
@chickenmanokout practise practise practise, thats what all the big drummers out there will tell you and figuring out what technique fits you and your feet/legs the best!
what are some SERIOUSLY gr8 techniquez on how to start practicin' how to get as fast as George on double bass from slow start upz to some serious speed??????? I'm a drummer and I wanna get really really fast like Joey Jordison and George Kollias someone PLEEEEAAAAZZZE giv meee some advise:)
however you explain it you have to search your best position for yourself even if you have a pro master he cant do it for you exelent video still cheers
There's a submition move in jiu jitsu called the heel hook which is twisting the foot the same way as when swivelling. And the injury is so severe that you never really recover after something pops in your knee, or ankle or even the hip. It's even banned on so many competitions. So yeah, don't swivel too much because you're actually heel hooking your self which is a really bad idea.
+ovo nisamja Certanly that will happen if you muscle it up, which is how metal guys do it. Only a few good players can play this fast with almost no spring tension or no spring tension at all.
Once you figure out how to double pedal really fast you look back and see how hard you tried to make it before you did it the right way..........favorite part of the vid, "you give yourself uh very nice injury" ha
When you swing your heel to the right, you can move your knee to the left, a little bit, by using your upper leg and vice versa. that, at least for me, takes away some stress on my knees. and yeah our knees are kinda fragile joints :-(.
Ohh ok I see what you mean, I've been trying to do this kind of stuff, but I've always just convulsed my foot and ankle, it's like I need to learn it all over again from scratch and it sucks :(
@TrSYeTi That being said, I'm quite sure that George Kollias is a much better drummer cross-genre than the majority of drummers that are out there. This isn't just some elitist opinion either. I know lots of drummers of many different genres, and I have to say that George Kollias is definitely more precise and creative when it comes to any style. To each his own, I suppose though.
The camera person must do music videos for a living. I will never understand the predisposition for those guys to show the pick while a guitar player is playing a great solo, to not know the difference between a drum solo and a keyboard player's microphone, a bass solo and the drummer's facial expressions. Do they go to school for this or is there a psychological profile that draws them to cameras?
@TrSYeTi If you listen to his actual drumming it is impressive. There is a very musical aspect to songs such as What may be safely written. He also does some jazz drumming, which is not really highlighted enough, and if you know jazz then you know the timings are complicated, it isn't about being fast but it displays how good his technique is. Kollias could out-drum any popular drummer in the world, in a heartbeat.
oh man. l've been practicing a lot to swivel my feet with no avail... Just for kicks, a great way to rest limbs is the classic Lars-Ulrich standing up when a song finishes
@GamerFreakFilms2 death metal isnt very creative....unless its melodic...there not much creativity. George is rly good drummer. I mean in the end what any of us say is just an opinion, george is one of th best death metal drummers in the world cant deny that...but best all around? nah man cant say. he sticks to what he does best and its death metal, im sure hes adept in other styles but i dont think he could beat other masters of those genres outside of his own. Sure he could give em a run ;P

No shit
Yo! Wanja! I just started watching your videos lol, coincidence see you in the comments loo
@@nocturnal6129 you don't disrespect one of the finest drum teachers on yt like that lmao

E for effort, but sorry camera work. it's like filming the bassist during a guitar solo.
Now that is the best simile I've ever heard during my life time
turkeytits179 you can hear smiles? wow
he is a phenomenal artist
He's right about the knee, I've felt that trying one-per-side swivel in this manner.

That doesn't make sense to me.. don't listen to the instructor and just play " however"?
What an awesome drummer and an awesome dude !
1:41 seems like chewbacca came to watch this tutorial too
Alasdair Perry awrrrrrrrrrr 😂🙈
"It's a disease, too much double bass." :D
+Pratyush Kaushal easy fix.. WE NEED MORE COWBELL.. ;)
Camera guy really isn’t bad. He kept it on the feet most the time. Most important shit.
Do that! I'm just drumming for a year now but I learned this technique and figured it out after about three months... :)
Cuz George Kollias is a beast that's why :D

I've got a fever, and the only cure,
is more double bass
how can you practice to get that fast and get to where you can do the swivel really fast like George????
1:42 What is that background sound?
"anybody has something to say?`"
@F990 Those were direct drives. I think they are Pearl Eliminators
I gotta learn how to do that. It looks like a cool technique.
I need to make my swivel a more compact movement definitely. How long did it take before your pain went away?
What pedal is he using in this video ?
fantastic camera work filming the floor for half the video
Now i ask myself the same thing. I even watched it entirely. It feels like i'm actually learning/improving something hahaha
Is he using the black cam?
Cool banner.....
@OGTheDemon That is why I think Hellhammer is at least one of the best, because he is quite good in Jazz drumming. Trym also.
el secreto de el es talon y punta cuando pedalea le da doble primero con la punta y cuando ba bajando le da con el talon por eso es tan rapido
3:17 Pearl Drum Company just sighed! =P
I'm practising this technique, and i do play faster while i use it, but i don't hit the head very strong.

Was this filmed with a potato?

@jonathannndrums and his foot when he shows the swivel instead of just the beater.
Trying to explain natural talent is difficult
I was just going to say that I'm pretty sure George Kollias has no fucking idea how George Kollias plays so fast.
Such thing does not exist at all
It's just hard work natural talent is bullshit
how much are you making off the fifteen second advertisements?
because the guy is a fucking beast. i dont even play the guitar nor drums,i play piano xD
Best feet in the biz Donati a close second
Is he saying "super nice injury" at 4:55 ?
@chickenmanokout
Not too easy but there are good training methods that give U exponential improvement
What's the name of that thing ? where the pedal hits
...
bass drum practise pad? You'll find a bunch on web! This is from pearl i think!
Cómo se llama esa cosita donde choca el pedal en lugar del bombo?
Bass drum practice pad or something like that
@TheKingOfManuFish it seems that he has 3 now
i try this in rockband....
the one sit in the front is watching and amaze but have no idea how to do it.
1 Dislike.... I was unaware Travis Barker had a youtube account
however you explain it you have to search your best position for yourself even if you have a pro master he cant do it for you exelent video still cheers
ready ,
God amongst peasants !
I mean the rest of the world myself included. Not just the people in this room
I always watch drum videos. I dont even play drums. And I'm a bassist
because you want to understand HOW people create the music you like? thats only an opinion of mine tho
Wow George so fuckin good but i don't know that technique
i do that all the time
@hatespreader666 Oh really? I couldn't really tell, kind of looked like direct drive to me. In the case it just goes to show how boss he is
He should get a Nike endorsement.

I don't even play drums. I just wanted to see george play.
Good that he's demonstrating the technique, but his feet are vanishing while playing. But he has the double bass disease - that explains everything.
The hell is up with the font on the bottom screen!? Tryin to watch the feet ffs! 😆😂
i want to play fast dubbel bass soooo baadddd!!!!

@GamerFreakFilms2 most death metal drummers like straight death metal are robots IMO ;/ unless its melodic
Probably would've been more helpful if it showed his hands when he demonstrates what his feet are doing.
6 tatatatatatatatatatatatatatatata >=)
Hahaha, same.

6:34 i saw it online. Guess I gotta report this video lol
To think, this video is how I learned swivel and fast double bass technique nearly a decade ago when it was uploaded.
Same here!👌🤘🔥

lmao dude i know how you feel then i started to get it and my mind exploded and now i cant move my legs anymore! haha
He doesn't really have a knack for clearly explaining what he's doing.
follow his exercises and you'll be there in no time! guaranteed! You can easily find them, he is very open to everyone, everywhere! :)
He's Greek, so English probably isn't his first language. And its pretty hard to teach natural talent.
the secret are in the shoes
Cut off this fucking words on the screen, damn it!
