Yup. It was nerfed as Tim himself thought it was too brutal. For me it was a bloody nightmare to finish with mouse and keyboard. I still got all the figments and hidden cutscene though. proud of that one. I don't think console gamers or PC controller players had such issues with Meat Circus though. Changes were Coach Olivander as a kid was given more health, extra checkpoints were included and knifes were added to spinning wheels instead of having to lure the knife throwers.

They made the figments much easier to see in Psychonauts 2, so that problem is probably solved. Only concern left with doing a blind 100% is if they do any missable achivements. I did hear they got rid of the "point of no return" aspect so that helps some
i was ready to drag you, but honestly most of your complaints check out. i'm currently replaying psychonauts for like the 5th time and... yeah, i'm starting to notice the technical issues more than i ever have. but the thing is, we all fell in love with this game not because of the mechanics themselves, but the amount of thought that was put into it, that gave it so much life. i'm so glad they got a chance to show us an expanded, more polished version of that world and i can't wait to finally play the sequel!

Back in the day all I knew about Tim was that his name was in the box of a bunch of games I liked, nowadays I feel like I know way to much about Tim. It was great to see a Psychonauts video that talked about the mechanics.
Psychonauts really needed a "figment radar" that could at least have an arrow that pointed to the closest figment or changed color similar to the dowsing rod. It could of been sold in Crueller's shop for a nominal fee! I'm glad Psychonauts 2 made them clearer!!
hands down one of the best games i have ever played ,the levels were creative and varied ,the gameplay has a good mix between platforming ,puzzle solving and combat ,the writing was incredibly cleaver and its spread out in a very good way that it does not ruin the pacing ,the boss fights were incredibly badass. Psychonauts is a very strong contender of being my favorite platofmer its a damn masterpeice imo.

Well actually there’s a psychonauts vr game that’s available on steam for 20 dollars, it’s called psychonauts in the rhombus of ruin and it takes place immediately after the cliffhanger ending, I won’t talk about any spoilers but it’s a prelude to psychonauts 2 but Tim Schafer stated that you don’t have to play rhombus of ruin before playing the sequel.

One game I always thought was severely underrated was Dark Watch. It was a western vampire game and it was badass. I’d recommend that for a fun old game.

I hate Yooka-Laylee, I'll probably release a video about it eventually. I've never seen so many people not understand what made Banjo-Kazooie so great. As for Shadow the Hedgehog, I sort of enjoy it ironically. It's a mess, but kind of fun in a so bad, it's good kind of way. Though a bit of it is legit good too, kind of hard to explain.
@@SyntheticMan Banjo Kazooie worked so well because it had small condensed levels that felt huge crammed with stuff and consistently had banger tracks, you only had to backtrack a few times but it was very rewarding and hit the spot. the characters had charm beyond their their bulgy eyes and funny voices and the main character had a more solid reason to actually stop the villain.

Generalising the characters as just crazy is a little short sighted and ignorant. Raz doesn't always cure these characters the milkmen is arguably worse off after raz enters his mind as an example.

I played this with my sons when it came out. We all loved it. The platforming or visuals were not as sharp as our favorite at the time, ratchet and clank. The visual design kept us playing because we were eager to see each new world. Overall we were sad to finish it beacause it was so immersive.

Something he didn’t mentioned and will probably be a way better use of your time. Harass the NPC with the interacts button. They usually have a shit ton of very well written funny dialogue. And every time you finish a level they’ll have completely different things to say if you come back to them. All the campers have these little side stories you can follow along and it serves no purpose for gameplay or the main plot. It’s really awesome, I’ve played the game about a dozen times and always find new things.
Also… When you happen upon a red button. Make sure to show it to everyone before actually using it for it’s intended purpose. It’s strange what dialogue you can get out of showing someone something as mundane as a red button.
Played for the first time a year or so ago and kicking myself for never playing it as a kid. It's one of the best collectathon platformers of all time easily.
This game definitely isn't tailored to everyone. The graphics can be repulsive to some people, and others might be deterred by the clunky platforming. But if you're in it for the story, which is usually what I focus on in video games, then it's a real treat, especially if you're a fan of the bizarre!

It was a pretty strange game from a developer known to make strange games. It had a lot of creative levels that caught me by surprise especially the rotating world but it was Jam packed with content and fun gameplay. It was fun exploring the worlds but a little less in a couple.
I just finished the game through Game Pass on Series X. The controls were really rough. Felt slow and floaty. It's probably much better on PC with 60+ fps instead of 30 as on console... However, all the thought put into the characters, the dialogue, the humor, and the variety in the levels really saved this game for me. My favourite levels were the Milkman Conspiracy and Waterloo World.

Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 are the top dogs for mem but I don't consider them collect-a-thons because they're much more linear. For collect-a-thon platformers, Banjo Kazooie is so well-designed that even the original team who made it can't remember how to recreate that magic.
Depends on what kind of games you like, and your tolerance for bad graphics. If you're fine with the classics, you can't go wrong with Super Mario 64, Spyro 1&2, or Banjo-Kazooie. Super Mario Sunshine & Galaxy 1&2 are timeless if you want to go a little more modern graphically. If you want a recent game, A Hat in Time is probably the best. Don't let people convince you Mario Odyssey is a masterpiece. It's not bad, but it's so mindless it feels like it was made for toddlers. If you want a more traditional platformer in a 3D format, Crash 2 is probably the closest thing.
I gotta disagree with you about the Milkman level, I really enjoyed tracking down all the weird things and that may be my favorite level. However, I do agree that the second half of the game feels really rushed. I've played through the game three times (never 100% though) and I always feel bored after the Milkman level. I look forward to your rant/review of Psychonauts 2.
The 2nd one is good but I don’t get that dark subliminal humor from the first one, and some of the mechanics definitely didn’t need to “reworked” I guess such as the levitation and hovering they should’ve left them exactly how they were (jumping twice as high, infinite hover) but other than that it was a decent sequel

Currently replaying PN1 after having finished part 2 last year when it came out and it's sooo much better. Part 2 was such a disappointment. The gameplay variety and puzzles are completely missing in 2.
The guy who made the tier list wanted to include as many games as possible. He also put Uncharted and the modern Tomb Raider on the list but I didn't count them. Mirror's Edge kinda counts if you squint really hard.

I had to find a guide… Then learn how the hell to navigate said guide for a very few of the figments.

If you want a more traditional platformer in a 3D format, Crash 2 is probably the closest thing.

I gotta disagree with you about the Milkman level, I really enjoyed tracking down all the weird things and that may be my favorite level. However, I do agree that the second half of the game feels really rushed. I've played through the game three times (never 100% though) and I always feel bored after the Milkman level. I look forward to your rant/review of Psychonauts 2.

The 2nd one is good but I don’t get that dark subliminal humor from the first one, and some of the mechanics definitely didn’t need to “reworked” I guess such as the levitation and hovering they should’ve left them exactly how they were (jumping twice as high, infinite hover) but other than that it was a decent sequel

I playd it recently, and I hated almost every second of it. While story is not that bad and level ideas are really good, but whole gameplay was pain in the ass. I don't know who made it, but has to be one of the most evil person ever born

I don't really have a favourite 3d platformer. Closest ones to a 3d platformer are probably Ninja Gaiden and Bayonetta, lol

Currently replaying PN1 after having finished part 2 last year when it came out and it's sooo much better. Part 2 was such a disappointment. The gameplay variety and puzzles are completely missing in 2.
Backtracking to trying to find cobwebs ruined the game for me and I stopped playing

Some celebrities made this game look like an uber mega masterpiece...it was good but not in THAT way.
Why is Mirrors Edge on the tier list?
The guy who made the tier list wanted to include as many games as possible. He also put Uncharted and the modern Tomb Raider on the list but I didn't count them. Mirror's Edge kinda counts if you squint really hard.
