      Treat it this way: Pre-destinated is that believing or accepting this grace is pre-destinated to cause your justification. In other word, God is definitely chose a group of people to be saved, but those group is the group of people who use free-will to chose Him. That's how free-will and pre-destination. So, in this way, the grace can still be resisted even God will not control it. So, in here, God do the initial chance and requirement to be chosen, but still man needs to be willing to take this chance. So, Pre-destination and free-will will not contradict each other.

    6:00 I would say the answer to that is that in God's grace He threw both me and my brother a life rope when we were drowning. I chose to grab the rope, my brother didn't. I responded, my brother didn't. That's not me saving myself because I'm so amazing. Working my way to heaven etc. It's just me holding onto and trusting the rope that God graciously provided to save me. Except if you throw a life rope to a man already dead he's not grabbing it. So for him to grab the rope he has to be "made alive" first to even see the rope.

    I still don't get it, after watching this video, why do Calvinists bother to evangelize?
    As an Arminian Christian I feel I have a duty to evangelize, as by doing so I can increase the number of those who are saved in eternity.
    Calvinists believe that this number of those who are saved in eternity (which they call "the elect") has been set from the beginning of time, ergo, it cannot be increased. So why would Calvinists bother to make effort to evangelize? May as well just lie on the sofa watching Netflix, as when there is someone you are predestined to evangelize, there's nothing you can do that would stop that from happening.

    • @teemu1381
      @teemu1381 5 років тому +8

      adburltv- It's simple! Because God commands us to! It's the means that God uses to bring in his Elect/Sheep. We declare the gospel and then God does the work and regenerates the believers heart to BELIEVE. See John 6:28-29, John 6:37-40, John 10:25-29,John 17:2

    • @siulunglee
      @siulunglee 4 роки тому

      I won't say it is not needed as @teemu1381 told us one aspect why we have to do evangelism, but certainly Calvinism's tulip soteriology doesn't have enough biblical support. Although we cannot say it is a heretical though but still will hinder some of real reasons and put down the enthusiasm of evangelism and global mission. It is just like the elder member say the same thing to William Carey. God doesn't need our enthuses to share the gospel, because I will do it and those I have worked on him, will not be able to resist.

    • @siulunglee
      @siulunglee 4 роки тому +2

      but rather Arminian soteriology, like today's some Wesleyan and Baptist church also has their problem with eternal security on salvation which has problem with God's guarantee He will keep us from gospel of John and other books. True that some people are not believed from the beginning and not save, but many believers are once believe and then got weak or frustrated, then leave the church and never come back. Some of them don't even admit that he is a believer anymore, are they still save? If not, then either they have never regenerate, or God cannot keep His promise to keep them from eternal punishment. So, deeds are always needed to proof that you are saved. It is actually the same in Calvinism soteriology.

    • @Niko-zg6uq
      @Niko-zg6uq 2 роки тому +1

      I wish John Piper said it simpler, because Jesus commanded us so. But what he was getting is that God not only ordained the salvation of the one He elected, but also the MEANs by which said person is saved, which is through the preaching of the gospel. That's why Calvinists DO bother to evangelize because the only way a person will be saved is through the preaching of the gospel and nothing else.
      And because we know that it is God who saves, it was God who elects, we can share the gospel knowing full well that God will do His work, no matter how well or bad we present the gospel to the person. And it's amazing to share the gospel as a Calvinist because the burden is not on me to save them, I just gotta be faithful to God's word and God will do the rest, in other words, I got guaranteed success that God's will be done no matter the outcome. Just like the parable of the sower where each seed falls, the sower(evangelist) throws the seed(gospel) to all types of ground(people) and each ground has been prepared beforehand(by God) to accept or reject the seed.
      If anything I pity the Arminian because the final decision lies to the man which means you gotta present a gospel that's reasonable to the person and the burden falls on you to do it right. Which leads to discouragement and pragmatism and trying to add philosophy to the gospel and have bad theologians like William Lane Craig who says "first you gotta prove to the person that a god exists" "Then! you can try to prove to them that Jesus of Nazareth is the Messiah" and so on and so forth. Biblically you just preach the gospel and that's it for it is the power of God onto salvation like Romans 1:16 says.

      Here's the answer for you (since I have a friend who asked the exaxt same thing).
      First, We need to believe that God made all humans and that we are his jars of clay... His vessel to be used.
      On the account of when pharaoh's heart is hardened by God to let the Israelites go (Genesis) ... Please read Romans 9:15-20.
      God... Our sovereign God... Will have mercy to whom he has mercy...and compassion as he has compassion, As he pleases. If one intelligence thinks about this... It's unfair, doesnt make sense that God made Pharaoh's heart hardened. He must not have free will and controlled by God then even though he's seen all those plagues as clear signs of God's powers.
      We may think then: "God must loved pharaoh as well, pharaoh is His creation and wanted everyone saves. Because that means that pharaoh's just a puppet... a robot.
      Then it goes... So then it depends Not on human will or exertion, but on God who has mercy.
      So, if you read carefully along... Regarding the non-free will/hardening heart of pharaoh, as God gives mercy as He wills, He will also hardened hearts as He wills.
      Who can resist His will?
      Who are you o man to answer back to God? Will what is molded say to its maker "why you made me this way?"
      Then pursue this train of thought further if your heart has been compelled by God to find out more: Romans 9:19... Romans 9:20-21...Ezekiel 36:26-27...Hebrews 6:1...Ephesians 1:17-18.
      I pray that these will bring clarity to your question as to whether we have free will to eat an apple right now, or not wanting to let go of our intellectual doctrines of theology and know that God is in control since He is God. Amen.

      If God ordained or decreed all things that come to pass, then whatever you do is ordained or decreed by God. "I form light and create darkness; I make well-being and create calamity; I am the LORD, who does all these things." Isa 45:7
      "Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the LORD that will stand." Prov. 19:21
      "As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today." Gen 50:20
      Yes, God did decide that that couple would get divorced, AND at the same time, they went against God's commanding will and sinned against Him. God ordained it, God planned it, God was in control of it, AND those two couples wanted to do it. In their own hearts wanted a divorce and did so our of the ambition of their own hearts and are responsible for their sin, not God.
      Now that may not logically make sense in OUR minds, but who are we gonna listen to, our rationality or God's words? Just because it doesn't make sense ergo that's not what the text means? I don't think so. And neither can we say that's unfair because we're the creature and God is the creature, by what standard do we accuse God of doing what He wants with his creation? (Paul addresses this issue in Romans 9 btw)

    What about 2 Peter 3:9, NIV: "The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance." This verse tells us very clearly that God wants to save everyone, but we know that not everyone gets save, why? Because people have the free will to reject God. To reject something is a decision, if you can reject something you can accept it too, aka free will.

    This argument about God’s total sovereignty it’s one that does not put God in a good light, because God has to decree everything in order to His will be accomplished. I believe that the Bible (The Word of God) portrays a much sovereingh God than that, that God created beings (angels and Humans) with will to choose, and despite of what their choise, God will still fulfill His plan of salvation.
    That is a much more sovereingh God to me.

      Matthew 10:34 “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. 36 And a person's enemies will be those of his own household. After God created all things and God saw that it was good [perfect] God planted a tree: “The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and EVIL.” Men did not know about evil but God did.
      Blasphemers are those that deny the Sovereignty of God. Iblīs was an Angel he was cast out of heaven because he argued with God why He created men who He made out of clay in His own Image with so much Glory. He said with more other angels to God: "You created them from clay and us from Fire why are we servants." we should receive more glory than they. God’s anger arose and Fire came from His Nostrils. The anger of God was never seen before. Michael and the angels on God’s side started war and threw Iblīs and his followers out of Heaven. Due to his fall from God's grace and jealousy he went to the earth to Paradise and deceived Adam and Eve to hurt God in the Crown of His creation. Iblis is often identified with Al-Shaitan ("the Devil"). It is a story you find in the Quran but is much much older than the Quran. from older manuscripts. The name Iblīs is derived from Ancient Greek διάβολος (diábolos)
      There was no Devil on day 6 when God saw that all he made was GOOD.
      If God did ?? not predetermine things???? God The Creator of Heaven and Earth could have thrown Iblīs In hell in the outer darkness or even destroy/ Annihilate him completely. But no God let him go to the earth take upon himself the form of a snake and deceive Eva and then Adam by his own wife, God gave him. Did God just only know that it would happen? God already had a plan of salvation and that Christ our Lord would come and die for the sins of the world. The plan was not optional it was determent. God prevented them to eat from the tree of life and live.

It's clear this was the plan of God! Jacob went to Egypt to move there and see Joseph again. God did NOT tell Jacob to start a mission post in Egypt. Did they not need the faith of Jacob if God wants them Saved? But instead God gave them their own territory the land of Goshen separated from the Egyptians. The Israelites became Slaves for 400 years. This the Lord already told Abraham It was not an option it was determent and instead of doing mission they started to serve the Idols of the Egyptians. God made pharaoh affright for the Israelites [or was it not God Who controlled even the tiniest thought of the Pharaoh if He can Harden his heart?] He started to kill every boy born to the Israelites. Because of it Moses ended up with the princes of Egypt and could have all the riches of Egypt but: Hebrews 11:24 By faith Moses, when he was grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter, You get it God was in control of the weather and could have given rain so Joseph’s brothers would not have gone to Egypt. Pharaoh’s heart would not have been hardened and all first born in Egypt who did not know the left from the right hand not have died. All the calamities in the desert would not have happened. From the almost 2 Million people that left Egypt non entered the promised land. What about all the first born in Egypt who died because God hardened the heart of Pharaoh. All the army of pharaoh drowned in the red sea without the Gospel. And the order of the Lord to kill each other after worship of the Golden Calf. 3,000 were killed by sword instead of a temporary punishment to give them time to repent and being forgiven. This worship was because they went to Egypt were they learned serving Idol gods. Was that a good reason for God to let them kill each other? Or did God not have to give an account to anyone for what He does? according to you God was wrong.
      Daniel 4: 34 At the end of the days I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted my eyes to heaven, and my reason returned to me, and I blessed the Most High, and praised and honored him who lives forever, for his dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom endures from generation to generation; 35 all the inhabitants of the earth are accounted as nothing, and he does according to his will among the host of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth; and none can stay his hand or say to him, “What have you done?”
      Just a period of drought created all this and Joseph being sold to Egypt.

      Revelation 20: 1 Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 2 He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; 3 and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more.
      Why now release Satan to deceive the nations? Did God just know? Where does it say that?
      Revelation 20:7 Now when the thousand years have expired, Satan WILL BE released from his prison 8 and will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the sea. “WILL BE” means it will happen BECAUSE of God’s Decree
      This lifetime is short and Hell is forever. Would you rather be presumptuous and not find out the truth.
      …Then the righteous will answer him, saying, “Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?” And the King will answer them, “Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.” (Matthew 25:37-40) those being Saved by grace did not know that what they did pleased God.

      Christ’s death was absolutely necessary in God’s plan but, according to the Bible, it is not what saved us. If Jesus died and was left on the cross and turned to dust or turned to dust in the tomb we would still be in our sins (1 Cor 15:17). But because he rose from the dead we are saved (Rom 5:9-10)

      My brother just continue reading until John 3:19-20 and there you will find the answer men does not come to the light how can they freely choose? if they want darkness rather than the light. It is the grace of God that cause a man to be born again so he can have faith to be save. Now tell me who is wrong? Everyone is wrong or in sin is your choosing cause you to brag to God? Its all by His grace .

    I think the Calvinist view of Christianity is more honest to what the Bible says... But it is absurd... People need to remember the Bible was written by man, it's not a given that It is literally true...

      You are indeed right that the Bible, the papyrus was written by Men as close to the original historical accounts back then. Jesus couldn't have written by himself as a testimony/witness since we were instructed to Go and make disciples to all. So, would one even believe a book that a guy wrote 2000 years who claimed he was the Son of God, and that He is God? I think we'd be more skeptical about a crazy book claiming someone's God.
      So, the apostles were compelled to write all their memories and understanding about what happened so the next generation and the next won't forget, hence we now heard about Jesus.
      We believe because of the written words by men, breathed out by the truth of God about what happened. Is the word of God.
      If you are still unsure, with a humble heart... you can ask God to talk to you, if He wills it.
      Hope this bring a little bit of hopeful clarity for you.

    Calvin was a tradition of men, God defying Sunday keeper, graven image user, reformer within the already traditionalist realm of Catholics, and Lutherans. No reverence or credibility is worthy of deliberate defiers of God's holy spiritual law.
    Thus: Calvinism smalvanism.

    Calvinism is not only anti-mission, it's anti-Christ because it says we're saved by election and not by faith in Christ.
    So let me provide a proper understanding... those the Father foreknew are known to Him as Israel, and the Father predestined all of Israel to be saved.
    Want to be a part of the Father's people known to Him as Israel, read Romans 11:11-32
