      it is the next morning that I need support to get downstairs [the feet ache the most]
      As for the ending, do it again, this time skip the lukewarm for ice water :) Btw. after tough games cold showers help, followed by stretching.

    Great video, will be very helpful for when I get back playing! But I should probably also be doing them now too!! Like the cool down at the end, definitely needed after the weather we’ve had this week!

    I suffered from a stiff lower back and calves, and the stretching helped a lot. Your shoulder strengthening exercises have already helped me overcome repeated shoulder pain after aggressive rallies.

    I've done a few irronman races and stopped them during the COVid pandemic and return to badminton . These stretches are really required to prevent lumbar & quads stiffness . Badminton is such a demanding sports

    Very nice video again and just about the right time: we´re back to training since two weeks and for the 1st time to my memory there are players that are asking (should I say screaming...) for a cooldown ! We´ll try those out this week apart probably from the happy ending...
    I hope you can sleep tonight...and that you will still find the way to the hall tomorrow ....;-) Enjoy !!!

    Thanks for these valuable tips. I have two questions.
    a) How early should I do these stretching once I am done playing. Typically after playing I leave for home...should I be stretching before that, or should I do stretch after I freshened up?
    b) Should I also be doing cold compressions to help recovery? If yes, then again when is a good time to do cold compressions?

    Stretching is super important and something I don't do enough so will be using these! I have always wondered why the pigeon stretch is called the pigeon stretch though since it looks nothing like a pigeon 🤔

      Yes we also wish we did more regular stretching when we were younger! And we did actually try and research why it's called the pigeon stretch but didn't have any luck!

      Either is good but straight after exercise is probably best when your muscles are warm!

    With 1:11 I have a very sharp pain around my inner hip area(maybe a damaged joint?) - I've had pain doing this stretch there with only that leg for years. I hope it's possible to fix that!

      Hopefully! Make sure you don't stretch through pain, just do what is comfortable for you! If the pain is persisting maybe see a physio or doctor?

      You should hold each stretch for 30-40 seconds. We suggest that you do these stretches daily. If you are feeling extra stiff in a certain area, then repeat that stretch

      Hi Sion, we would mainly suggest doing stretches like these at the end of a game. You can however incorporate some dynamic stretches into your warm up before the game! We have shown these in our warm-up video which can be found here - ua-cam.com/video/ZEmtYFnxZtk/v-deo.html

    4:32 Various online sources have all shown that when stretching the lats in the child's pose, they move their hands towards the side opposite of the lats being stretched. The fact that Greg doesn't here - is this a variation specific for badminton?

    play when 80 years old, why aim so low? :)
    I have a fellow badmintoneer who is 94 [and he can move around the court... well, when he's my partner and opponents are tough he takes 1/4 of the court, the rest is mine...]

    I'm the only one that does a warm up and cool down, yet I'm the only one that can't move for about 3 days, after. 😭🥺
    No idea why. But I do move more dynamically than everyone else. That's my excuse. 🤔

      @@nethushar I tore my ATFL and CFL. Never fully recovered. Not the only injury, just the most recent. My friend does wrestling and he has every single type of injury I've ever had, and more.
      Ironically every time I injured myself was because I lacked focus.

    OMG, I'm 55 just getting back into the game after being away for 15 years. I'm still getting used to winning points without serving. Yeah, it's been THAT long.
    Anyway, after playing, I walk like "old Greg" at the beginning of the video! I try to play like I'm 25 and it's just not possible - getting old sucks! lol
    Your warm up and warm down vids are already helping. So glad I found this channel. 🏸🏸
