    Thank you. I'd been thinking that raspberries need self-contained growing conditions. This video confirms it.

    I had to dig up my raised bed and put down some corrugated iron on the bottom before filling it back up. An adjacent tree roots were growing into the bed stealing all the nutrients. Doing much better now. I love the raised garden bed idea by the way. I might try it myself down here in South Hobart!

    Love your work Sir. I am also new to growing raspberries and have already prepared a bed for them, other wise I would have tried this method. However, your idea of using corrugated iron as a raised garden bed is BRILLIANT, so easy even I could do it. I aim to use this process for other food pants. Keep doing what you are doing. Yours truly, Fiona 😄

    Just make sure that with most summer fruiting varieties you need to make sure you know which cains are old and which are new because they fruit on the Cain in the following season

    • @homesteading
      @homesteading  4 роки тому +2

      Absolutely, summer fruiting varieties are pruned differently to autumn fruiting ones.

    Hello sir! I love your UA-cam videos. Beautiful garden bed idea! I have a few raspberries grown in pot about 7 months, they are growing so fast in height nearly 2 meters tall but don’t have any flowers yet. Do l need to trim them?

    Thank you for the helpful video. I am new to growing raspberries - I just want to check, will you not get fruit off those canes until the next year? (None the year planted?)

    • @homesteading
      @homesteading  2 роки тому

      First year crop will be small as very few mature canes. They tend to grow one year, fruit the next, then die.
