I dearly love the 20 sec silence after the reveal. Some people are excited; some feel justified in earlier guesses; some are just jumping around shaken. I love it when a reactor just looks angry and like they want to b*-slap a film for what a trip they just got taken on. Love your work, man! :)
The longer the silence went on, the harder I laughed. Yeah, I felt that. The first time I saw the film, it was already out on VHS. After my own long silence, I rewound the tape and watched the whole thing again.

From IMDB trivia - In an interview on The Colbert Report (2005), Kevin Spacey revealed that Bryan Singer managed to convince every one of the major actors that they were Keyser Soze. When first screened for the company of actors, Gabriel Byrne was so stunned when he found that he wasn't Keyser Soze that he stormed off into the parking lot and argued with Singer for a half hour.
I was finishing up cooking an early dinner, enjoying your outrage, and then I heard nothing but silence. I walk to the other room to see if my internet went out, but it was just you looking gutted by one of the greatest twists in a movie ever. 😂
The brilliance of the twist is that the Keaton swerve makes so much sense, and Chazz Palminteri is convincing as hell when he sells it. That's why the final reveal is such a mindbender. As soon as you think it all makes sense, they pull the rug out. And here's something I caught after many, many rewatches. When Kujan goes on his 'You've known this whole time' rant, Verbal slips and says 'I don't know what you're talking about, I DID KILL KEATON.' He corrects himself by saying 'I saw him die,' but in the heat of the moment, he accidentally confesses to Keaton's murder, and thereby reveals that he is Keyser Soze. Kujan brags that he knows how to spot a murderer, but when a murderer slips up and confesses, he doesn't even notice, because he's so obsessed with Keaton, and so overconfident that he's yelling over Verbal/Keyser when he says the words 'I did kill Keaton.'
The twist ending is one of the most shocking and most memorable in movie history. I have seen video reactions to this movie. It made my jaw drop and I thought to myself, "Wait, What!? It was him the entire time!?"
Verbal is not Soze. There are countless reasons why I thought Kobayashi is Soze but one true giveaway is the moment in the pool room when he first appears to the 5 suspects. Just as Keaton utters the words "someone with power..." they cut to a shot of Kobayashi calmly standing in the shadows having entered unnoticed by these career criminals. And then it happens again during the finale as we see and hear the montage of clues as Kint is walking down the street. When the phrase "someone with power" is played again the Jaguar with Kobayashi appears behind him. So subtle and sly. Bonus, we never know his real name as Kobayashi is the name Kint gave him from the coffee mug. And he was present at every key moment of manipulation of the suspects.
When I met Kevin a few years back, he had great stories about making this movie. He signed my Usual Suspects screenplay, with a pen that Tom Cruise gave him on the set of A Few Good Men. He's had a really interesting acting career, especially for a standup comic. Super nice guy, too. Very small. Like an Ewok.
The silence at the end was hilarious! If you like movies that have an ending that isn´t predictable, here are some, not all are crime flics: The Sixth Sense, Murder on the Orient Express (1974), Lucky number Slevin, The Game, Identity, Frailty, Unbreakable and Sicario, just to name a few. Just for inspiration!
@@wrAIth-AI The best version I know. Kenneth Branagh may be a talented actor and director, but his remake wasn´t that good. I never understood, why great movies needed a "new interpretation", they usually turn out to be hardly better than the original.
The biggest hint is in the very first big scene in the entire movie. When Keaton is sitting on the ship saying he can't feel his legs. When the guy you don't see the face of speaks, he speaks in a whisper but it's definitely his voice. Nobody ever picks up on it, but upon watching it a second time or more I can clearly tell.
Your silence at the end is quite possibly the most genuine reaction I've seen so far! I remember the first time I saw it I was just as shocked! The funny thing is when you watch it a second time you start to see the hints you didn't see the first time, like Kobayashi congratulating Verbal for killing the jeweler when only the 5 of them were there, otherwise how would the lawyer have known? And also the foreign way Verbal holds his cigarette. You almost have to watch it again. You're compelled to.
The guy who wrote this used to be a security guard at the movie theater I used to manage in Perth Amboy, NJ. He wrote this while working his shifts. If want another really good mind F movie, then check out The Game with Michael Douglas
Swimming with Sharks is an underrated Kevin Spacey flick with a great performance you might wanna check out. And another great flick with Kevin Pollack (Hockney in this one) is A Few Good Men. Oh yeah, it's also got Tom Cruise, Jack Nicholson and Demi Moore. You might've heard of it.
This was a great reaction. The look of confusion on your face at the end of the movie J.L. happened to everyone who saw this movie. I know that is a bold statement but I think it's true. Friday's reaction is going to be even better than tonight's reaction. At least I think so. Next month is going to be amazing.
I watched this in the cinema, before anyone knew anything about it, we went just based on the movie poster which looked cool. Man at the end, every one was completely frozen, nobody said a thing, or moved I'm telling you...
Irony is even the name itself Keyser obv sounds exactly like "Kaizer" - "Emperor/King" for German + Soze comes from the turkish idiom "söze boğmak", which means "to talk unnecessarily too much and cause confusion" = King of Misleading [Talking others into Confusion]
You're right - he did ultimately fail. The entire endeavor was to kill the Argentinian snitch so that the authorities would not know that he is at least an operative of if not the leader of the criminal entity known as "Keyser Soze." But one of the Hungarians survived the attack, saw his face, and described it to the sketch artist. The "Verbal Kint" identity is burned, he will have to continue his activities off-grid and underground or get plastic surgery or something.
Except the witness ultimately died in the hospital and there are no living witnesses to confirm his identity even if they brought him in based on the sketch.
@@1newbert The witness gave a "deathbed testimony" to a roomful of other witnesses who can all testify. But it's likely they wouldn't have moved on him immediately but would have instead let him go and ramp up surveillance on him to see how much they can learn about his operation, his operatives, his contacts, his methods, where his money is and how he launders it, etc.
Your silence at the end is gold. Yeah, that was my reaction, too. Stunned silence trying to reconcile my version of reality with what I just witnessed. Great job.
"One story the guys told me - the one I believe..." It's great on subsequent viewings - the little things that you pick up but I always loved that particular line.

If you loved this, good sir, I HIGHLY recommend Lucky Number Slevin, which might be the most underrated crime drama of all time. It may have just been coincidence and not intentional but there are a couple of times in the movie where "Verbal" holds and smokes a cigarette eastern Euporean style. I was a heavy smoker when the movie came out, and that got me thinking. Considering where Kaiser Sosei was supposedly from.
I’ve been waiting for somebody to react to this - so glad I found you! Everyone remembers the first time they watched this 😊 and had their mind blown 🤯 your reaction to it was perfect!!! Best ending to a movie ever xx
Yeah, this is one of those movies that isn't over when the credits roll. You'll be playing scenes over and over in your head for awhile, trying to figure out which parts (if any) were real and what REALLY happened. GREAT movie with one of the best twist endings of all time.
The look of confusion on your face for the final reveal. Was the same confusion that I felt the first time I saw this movie. Honestly, you have to watch the movie twice to really enjoy it. But by far, this is one of my top favorite two movies. This one, and LA Confidential, what can I say, I'm a sucker for film Noir.
Your face = my face when I watched this movie in the theater in 1995. To this day, still my #1 movie of all time. Watch it the first time, see the ending, then go back and re-watch it and see a COMPLETELY different movie. Master class.
Mr. Soze takes yet another reactor for ride, then leaves them standing on the sidewalk, with their brow furrowed and jaw open, bewildered, yet impressed at how much wool was pulled over their eyes. I love to see it. 😉
All these years later, after first seeing it in theatres, I can not tell you how much it has killed me they never filmed even just a split-second of his pov shot, just underneath looking up at the base of the coffee cup being held and that kobayashi lettering and the smug chattyness of the detective looking down :/ lol.
@Extraordinarily Ordinary Media Another wonderful reaction. One of the 10 best endings in film. No one i know who i ever saw it with or showed this movie to got that ending :)
Can’t stop watching these videos mate! 25:19 when you get a little fright was funny as hell, you just so genuine keep it up bro truly entertaining. Could you watch braveheart I’m Scottish so would love to see your reaction too it !
Your face when the big reveal hits is what I'm gonna enjoy most (feel free to prove me wrong) I'm expecting a "are you f'n kidding me" or a "get outta here" or something fun!
This was exactly the right reaction. You had Keaton locked as Keyser and then when it hit.... You had to tell somebody and quickly too. I know that feeling. Excellence in reacting on display sir.
This is my favorite movie of all time. I’m absolutely obsessed with it. You know what’s hilarious? They actually spoil the movie in the first act. In jail Verbal tells everyone that he’s called “Verbal” because he talks too much. The name Keyser Söze roughly translates to “King Talk Too Much”. He told the rest of the suspects and the audience he was Keyser when we first met him and we all brushed it off. Brilliant
Bryan Singers debut as a director!he did some X-men movies!most credits him for taking superhero movies into a full on universe, and just not some ok movies with guys and girls in funny suits!
The best part is your puppers telling you that you weren't done petting. 🤣🤣This movie was so good. I fell asleep partway through on my first viewing, combination of too much beer and bud. I woke up just as Spacy said "F**kin cops." I was stone sober when it finished, picking my jaw off the floor.
Oh, there are hints of Kaiser Soze's identity sprinkled throughout. But you have to look closely. Like Verbal & Kaiser Soze having the same lighter. Little details like that really makes rewatchs worthwhile.
Great reaction to one of my favorite movies. After all these years, I’m still amazed the car Verbal gets into with the lawyer doesn’t have a license plate that says “Keyser1”.
Kevin Spacey is so great in this. Now that you know who he really is (or is he?) pay attention to the little facial expressions he makes. When Kujan (the cop interviewing him) initially says "my guess is he's using you because you're stupid and you think he's your friend" the camera isn't on Kujan, it's on Verbal. @12:18. There's this smug little grin as Verbal thinks "I've got you now" and spins his tales. But it could also be a smug little smile because he's got immunity and is laughing a bit at Kujan's tough guy act. It works in both interpretations, which is amazing. Also notice how his tales and even his persona change near the end when Kujan announces that Keaton is Keyser Soze. Verbal is playing to Kujan's preconceptions, and to ours. Also keep in mind that this movie is filmed from Kujan's perspective, visualizing the stories that Verbal tells. The only things we actually know are that there was that shootout and fire on the dock the previous day, that there were no drugs, and that Keaton's wife was found shot in a hotel. Did the initial lineup happen? Did the jobs in between happen? Did that jeweler / drug courier get murdered or even exist? It's not like Kujan, who was a customs officer, had time to verify any of it. The bodies on the boat were burned to a crisp and hadn't (yet) been identified, so Verbal was free to say it was anybody or everybody. He knew he'd be out within an hour or two, and by the time anybody noticed any inconsistencies he'd have vanished.
I saw this a month before it was released in a special screening. It's been in my top ten ever since. Love your reaction. You'll have to rewatch it to see all the hints you missed. I ended up seeing it 7 times in the theater. I've known many people who can't unconvince themselves that it's Keaton once they find out the truth. 😂
That's the exact reaction I had when I saw that ending for the first time. I just sat there in stunned silence for an eternity. What an ending! Still the best I've ever seen.
As someone from there, it's pronounced PEE-DRO lol. Lots of the movie was filmed around here and a whole bunch of other movies and tv shows are too. It's always extra legit when they pronounce it right (like in Mad Men). Anyways, love your reactions dude, keep em coming!
The term "The Usual Suspects" come from the movie, "Casablanca" where near the end a police captain says "Round up the usual suspects.". "Casablanca" is worth watching.
My mother introduced me to this. Movie the first time I seen it andthe is a total masterpiece, everytime I rewatch this its like I notice something new,and yes that's Gus. Honestly I felt the same way you did like i missed something but I definitely paid attention. Great reaction. ✌️ 💜🙏.
The mind bending suspense thriller. The mind melting, head exploding movie is by far THE best genre of movie in history for me personally. This one is at the top. I could name more, but if I do it kinda spoils them if you go in knowing your mind is expected to be blown. Good luck and congrats when you find the rest😎
32:45 pretty much my first reaction when I saw this movie. I've told some younger folks about it and how they have no clue how big this movie was and its effect on pop-culture. For years the cup drop scene was parodied.

A minute of silence is the perfect reaction to this picture.
That first lineup was unscripted gold. They all kept cracking up because Del toro kept farting and it just devolved from there
I knew about all the farting, but I couldn't remember which actor was doing it.:-)
Also Del Toro speaking like he did, was also ad-libbed. It was not written that way, and he stole every scene he was in
Verbal was a genius. He told the cop exactly what he wanted to hear and showed him exactly what he expected to see. Love this movie and your reaction

Have you seen the Branagh film Dead Again? It’s modern-day noir and Hitchcockian at the same time.
Watched this reaction last night. Came back tonight just to watch that 40 seconds of silent WTF action. You're terrific, my friend.
It was great casting. They hired a sociopath to play a sociopath.
Stunned silence...hahaha...
Yep...
We were all fooled the first time we watched it...😄😄😄...
Great reaction J...👍😉...🌿🌿🌿
Your face & wordless reaction to the ending is all of us. A real table flip moment 👌
Quite the jaw dropper! Another shocking crime thriller to see is L A Confidential. Also with Kevin spacey, only he’s a cop in that one
Best response. Same way I responded in 1995, froze for a few minutes and then had to rewind that like 10 times , lol
10:35 a crime vs wrong
excellent distinction 👍🏼
All these years later, after first seeing it in theatres, I can not tell you how much it has killed me they never filmed even just a split-second of his pov shot, just underneath looking up at the base of the coffee cup being held and that kobayashi lettering and the smug chattyness of the detective looking down :/ lol.
If you watch it a second time, you’ll see when Verbal is looking up at the bottom of Quyon’s cup!
Your silence in the end said a lot more then a thousand words!
Kay-zer So-say (pronounciation). An absolute masterpiece of a film. Especially the twist in the end.
This was exactly the right reaction. You had Keaton locked as Keyser and then when it hit.... You had to tell somebody and quickly too. I know that feeling. Excellence in reacting on display sir.
When he said he needed to go talk about it he legit called me two minutes after he recorded this. LoL
Best reaction to the big reveal that I've ever seen, and you didn't say a word! Thoroughly enjoyed your reaction to this movie.
Brilliant
One of the best movies ever made, thank you!
This one got you.... I never saw you get that quiet after a reaction!
LOL seeing you stuck at the end was worth all this LOL 🤣🤣
That's the exact reaction I had when I saw that ending for the first time. I just sat there in stunned silence for an eternity. What an ending! Still the best I've ever seen.
I kind of guessed the ending when during that one job Verbal headshot a guy in cold blood. It was very suspicious.
Kaiser Soze’ was voted Hollywoods #1 villain of all time beating out Hannibal Lecture……
This was such a great movie!!.... Always gets me ... Every one I seen watch this never gets until the end, just the way a suspense movie should work
As someone from there, it's pronounced PEE-DRO lol.
The greatest twist in cinema history.
Saw this in theaters and many people had the same long-silence reaction you did at the end. Including me. LOL
One of, if not the best movie twist of all time.
this is one of those movies that when you watch it after the first time, you try to pick out all the little clues that were hidden throughout.
32:45 pretty much my first reaction when I saw this movie. I've told some younger folks about it and how they have no clue how big this movie was and its effect on pop-culture. For years the cup drop scene was parodied.
Loved your reaction to the reveal. Who knows how much of the story he told to the detective was real? One of the best twist endings ever.
The silence at the end........ I love it.
33:16 Dog coming in clutch - "You okay, man?"
That minute of silence for poor J's brain was epic. Lol there was at least 3xs you could see a thought work its way to his tongue but that shit just wasn't coming out. Lol
I predict an all time STFU experience
If it's not the record, it's def close to it. LoL
Oooooooh BIG facts lol
EOM ...Can't wait! 😁
Dude, your face at the end of the movie. 😅🤣😂 Very cool movie especially bc of the twist. Love watching other ppl watch it.
Great reaction man! That ending whooo
