I enjoyed he whole videos guys but the most enjoyable thing to hear was Sam's description of a day game being called by Pat Hughes and Ron Coomer. They are the epitome of what I would call great Cubs broadcasters and we have had our share of great ones. The Boog, sadly, is not part of those great ones. Sorry Boog, but I really think you belong to ESPN or FOX or the MLB channel.
I feel the Cubs should go with an all left handed staff. Starting and relief. All pitching coaches assitants and anyone who has anything to do with pitching must be left handed.
Pat Hughes is the 🐐 ITTZZGGGOTTAAACHHAAAAAAAANNNNCCCCEEEE GGGOONNEE! ❤♥️💯♥️❤ I appreciate everything that man has gave to us Cubs fans and will be sad the day he steps down from it 🙏🏽🙌🏽
I feel Imanaga should be an untouchable also. He’s probably my favorite player at this point and is fun to watch compete. I also like Busch and would not want to deal him. I’m certainly interested to see where things go from here.
Yeah, Busch is in the fold. He's cheap and doesn't hit free agency until 2030. He's a solid bat, and I think he'll be in the gold glove discussion as soon as next season.
We Don't Need Starting Pitchers!!!! You guys are as bad as Jed has become. If you're gonna make him a Closer, Okay. We have Steele, Assad, Tailion, Wicks, Ben Brown and Horton ready. 🤷🏻 Wesneski is better as a SP with decent numbers as well, but if we don't give em a chance....how do we know? Ben Brown you wanna use as your Setup guy. He's got a Closer arm for sure but the fact he's a good SP, Just start him. Oh and I didn't even mention what the Japanese Rookie SP did last year. Like, we have guys!!!!! We need A Power 1B/DH that can hit with Avg. Alonso/Soto level player. Even Rizzo next to Busch helping the squad. Chapman would of been nice but looks like Reds will get him. A Closer, A Good arm even 😅. Smh. Catcher?
My hesitations with Crochet are twofold: 1)What prospects do the Cubs have to give up in this trade? 2)What would his attitude and locker room presence be like in view of his comments about an extension at the trade deadline? I wonder if he is a Boras client? If the guys you mention are THE prospects in a trade, great. If the Cubs can work out an unlikely extension, great. But I do think they want him as a starter, not closer.
I would add injury / durability. two edged sword. not a whole of inning pitched, was it because of his time as a reliever or was it because of his arm?
Since the Sosa trade, have the Cubs had any trades that benefitted them with the Sox? Feels like Cubs always end up on the bad end of the deal. You'd likely have to give up great talent to get a high risk guy
Love the idea of getting Tucker and extending him. I also like the idea of trading for Lopez, especially if they also get Jeffers. He'd be the perfect 50/50 split with Amaya.
If the Cubs do that Tucker trade: Horton, paredes, casey....Cubs would instantly be fun to watch, heavy favorites in MLB Central and would be great to build on for the future
It’s not fair to claim Crochet is a career reliever turned starter. He was drafted as a starter and was only used as a reliever to get him to the majors asap. They were following the Chris Sale path.
I'd be really excited about acquiring Tucker, but only if they extend him. I worry that would put them into the luxury tax, so they ultimately won't do it.
PCA, Shaw and even Ballisteros shouldn't be involved in any kind of trade unless it's something way too good to pass up on. I dont think Crochet fits that and is way too much of a risk.I live in Des Moines and have seen Ballisteros play a ton. This kid is a hitter! The Cubs need to find a way to get him in the lineup along with Shaw! They are the future of this organization! Now if we can get something for Nico or Paredes I am all for it to make room for Shaw. You guys keep talking about trading for Tucker but I don't see the Astros giving him up? If anything they are going to build around him? As always, love the show and Go Cubs! 💙❤️
and what exactly has Shaw done against M.L.B. pitching that make you want to move on from a two time gold glove and a member of a top five defensive infield in M.L.B.?
I still want Bryce Miller and Harry Ford from the Mariners so I’d wait to see if they make that happen then consider Crochet. I really want a “near the top” of the rotation Righty to split Steele and Imanaga.
I'd love to be wrong, but I dont think Triantos, Alcantara, Rojas gets this done. I'd imagine the Sox want someone closer and it might mean parting with a bigger name. I mean theyre trading for a guy who could be the best starter in baseball
I think crochet also said he refused to go back to anyone’s bullpen, which is where people probably are hesitant to trade for someone with little innings under their belt.
The Cubs are pretty strong in the pitching department, so I wouldn't give a lot to get Crotchet. There are just too many questions marks with his health.
This is why fan trade projections are always laughable. They're clearly looking at this only from one side. Just use the Sox trade of Cease last year and put the parameters that Chris Getz already mentioned. Sox want mlb ready position players with 6 years of control for Crochet so a deal not involving Caissie or Shaw and more is already a deal-breaker. Matt and Sam you guys are better than this.
how about Bellinger, Alcantara, Triantos, Rojas & Wicks for Crochet? Cubs could also throw in some combination of Canario, Mervis, Mastrobuoni & Vazquez.
One thing I don't understand is, why can't we just be really good 13 deep? Why does our bench have to be guys that are a huge drop off? You can't have Cassie, Shaw, Ballesteros, and canerio, Alcantara, or whoever as your bench. It had to be Mastro, Wisdom, Thais, and Bote or whoever. Let Counsel do his job and mix lineups and rotate guys. I understand people's thought process that it could stunt the young guys growth. That is the managers job though. Their are enough opportunities and at bats. If they aren't going to sign/trade for a game changer, I'd rather see this approach
I still think Nico and prospects will go to the Mariners for a RHP starter. However, I would love Crochet as the closer. Two years of control at low price. No way on trading Caissie, Shaw, Cam, Balisteros or Horton. Would the Sox take Triantos, Rojas, Alcantara and Wicks or Assad?
I'm so disappointed in the cubs , they are a large market team , but can't put together a winning team year after year. And they give big contracts to old or has been players.
Matt really wants Hoerner out? The only guy on the team that can hit for a good average while his trade value is already low with his performance last season and the surgery. Such a cliche take.
Guys, this is a really bad idea for the Cubs. Last year was the only decent one for Crochet, and he faded badly down the stretch. There is absolutely no evidence he can give you a full season of strong performance. And the cost is likely to be a bunch of good prospects. No thank you.
I feel for you guys: you have to spend all winter doing shows with themes like "Will the Cubs sign XXXX free-agent" (that the Cubs definitely won't sign)? OR "Could the Cubs trade for XXXX" (that the Cubs definitely won't trade for)? Cubs are LOW-RENT. Ain't no superstars coming to the North Side.
Good then the other teams can have him. I like Nico but it’s time to move on, let’s see what Shaw can do. No Power Nico can be replaced by someone much cheaper with more thump and less K’s.
Crochet (who only has 2 years of control) is a guy you add as the final piece, not to a team that hasn't made the playoffs in years and needs an offensive star more than starting pitching.
Garrett Crochett is woefully overrated. He's the lefthanded version of Jameson Taillon. He's the best pitcher on an awful team, which basically makes him the tallest midget. He's never pitched under pressure, and he has no history of longevity. I would not give up the farm for this guy. He wouldn't move the needle on inch for the Reds or the Cubs. The hype machine is in over drive again.
Yeah we get that but where is Triantos going to play, he’s got guys ahead of him with more projected upside and you have to trade something a value to get something.
@ he still has another year to play out at Triple A. Probably gonna move him to an OF position. It seems the Cubs are gonna give Caissie a shot , what if he doesn’t pan out. I just wouldn’t move him yet. If the Cubs put him in a trade package for Like Vlad JR. or a Mason Miller type…fine. That seems impossible at this point with the front office the way it is.
Crochet lost me when he screwed his own team by claiming he wouldn't play in October for any team he's traded to. Sox could have done well in a trade without that. Show he's far from a team guy.
Wesneski is a good pitcher. 2023 was bad sure but this past season he aas good & his rookie year he was great. Overall numbers in 2.5 years say hes a back end SP or long middle RP. Has a specific weakness that Cubs may think they can fix
If it means we got to give up our top 5 rookies, I say no .He was a reliever and became a starter then had arm problems ,no way would I do that.Dumb talk dumb moves .We need a new guy for baseball operation. We will never win this division as long this organization doesn't start thinking different .
Pat and Ron are a class act. Best in baseball period!!

Great take on Crochet. Lots of prospects to play with. I know people have grown to love the names, but who's to say how they end up.
yep
I think I may move to San Diego and become a Padres fan. At least the weather is nice
and they have actual stars on the field
See ya!

Good to see positively!
I feel Imanaga should be an untouchable also. He’s probably my favorite player at this point and is fun to watch compete. I also like Busch and would not want to deal him. I’m certainly interested to see where things go from here.
Imanaga is untouchable. Busch seems likely in the fold too
@@matt_cozziThat's a good take 👍
No such things as untouchable.
Yeah, Busch is in the fold. He's cheap and doesn't hit free agency until 2030. He's a solid bat, and I think he'll be in the gold glove discussion as soon as next season.
Crochet is a real difference maker unlike the other bum they just signed.
Are we going for an all left-handed rotation?
We need more hitting than pitching right now. I also like the idea of getting a closer because we need one so bad!!
No we don't lol we need to be pitching heavy. Sign tanner scott and trade for crochet and maybe even bryan woo or bryce Miller. Pitching wins games
@Dwayne4007 i thought our pitching did well last year, we just couldn't hit or close the game, but at this point, anything helps.
We Don't Need Starting Pitchers!!!! You guys are as bad as Jed has become. If you're gonna make him a Closer, Okay. I’ve been dreaming on Kyle Tucker to the Cubs for years. Feels like the underrated star that is right up Jed’s alley

Crochet is represented by CAA
@matt_cozzi Good to know!
I'd rather make a deal, nico for woo or Miller from M's
I would add injury / durability. two edged sword. not a whole of inning pitched, was it because of his time as a reliever or was it because of his arm?
February is around the corner. Let's get it together Cubbies
Since the Sosa trade, have the Cubs had any trades that benefitted them with the Sox? Feels like Cubs always end up on the bad end of the deal. You'd likely have to give up great talent to get a high risk guy
I could stomach a deal that involves Triantos and some other permutation of non-Top 100 level pieces.
What do you think about the Cubs possibly acquiring Mason Miller and Shea Langolier from the As for Ballesteros, Ramirez, and Rojas?
Love the idea of getting Tucker and extending him. I also like the idea of trading for Lopez, especially if they also get Jeffers. He'd be the perfect 50/50 split with Amaya.

I think the White Sox would be extremely happy with Triantos, Alcantara, and Rojas.
I agree !
Any concerns with 4 leftys?
Shota vs Betatani to start the season, bet on it.
I'd be really excited about acquiring Tucker, but only if they extend him. I worry that would put them into the luxury tax, so they ultimately won't do it.

Just don’t trade Shaw. That’s all I’m asking as a cub fan.
The Cubs are pretty strong in the pitching department, so I wouldn't give a lot to get Crotchet. There are just too many questions marks with his health.
Do we want 4 LH starters?
Canario, Alcanatara, Triantos for Crochet
Alcantra is not headlining that trade (crochet). It will more likely be Caissie and Horton and Alcantara. How do you feel now? Temper the excitement.

Crochet won't close
Cubs are 3 highest profit margin in league
I wonder what anyone thinks about PCA leading off? Seem like a no-brainer but I haven't heard anyone propose it.
I love the idea of PCA at leadoff, followed by Shaw in the two hole. Shaw would see a lot of fastballs when PCA is on base!
@@kevinkucera5338 Excellent point. Now why can't WE fans be the decision-makers?
I want PCA in starting lineup opening day, not sure about him leading off however.
After his improvement last year, I kind of assumed they would lead him off this year.
He needs more discipline. He’s definitely getting to that spot
Imanaga is a ? Still let’s see if the league figures him out before you put all your eggs in one basket and think he is a 2 pitcher
No way!
I would not go past a Alcantara , Triantos package for the Guy
Cubies should sign ol Jack Flaherty Garret Crochet Walker Buehler and keep Bellinger
Cubs should trade hoerner for bryan woo or bryce Miller AND make a trade for crochet and sign tanner scott and a couple depth pieces
If i were the Cubs i would be shopping Paredes, Bellinger, and Hoerner hard.
Give them happ and hoerner and a prospect happ can stay in the city or Suzuki tell them take your pick
Two words: six man rotation.
Forget it. Sox want Shaw and Caissie.

I'm so disappointed in the cubs , they are a large market team , but can't put together a winning team year after year. And they give big contracts to old or has been players.
Id pass on Crochet
Got get Alcantara or Gallen
My concern is that the Reds get him. We should make this trade (Crochet). You’re making my mouth water-Tucker would be awesome!
Making your mouth water is wild 😂
Signing Boyd made a Crochet trade unviable. 4 lefties in the rotation is not happening.
The angels did it one year
